Comedy Bloomers was founded in 2017 by Chris Smith, who started doing comedy a year earlier following a course at the Comedy School London.

Chris quickly realised that gay comedy was no longer limited to double entendres and obvious gay humour. Instead, it had progressed to a flourishing, dynamic and sophisticated level of gay-orientated humour that pokes fun at the LGBTQ+ community whilst also providing a refreshing insight into the gay world when presented to a mainstream audience.

Concluding that the LGBTQ+ comedy scene is currently underrepresented within both the LGBTQ+ scene and mainstream comedy, Chris decided to start a new night, Comedy Bloomers billed as a night of Gay Comedy (with other minorities!).
