A concert for families, part of Highgate International Chamber Music Festival 2026
Every winter, the Highgate International Chamber Music Festival brings together internationally acclaimed musicians for a celebration of chamber music in the atmospheric setting of St Anne’s Church, near Hampstead Heath.
This year, the festival presents a special hour-long Family Concert, offering children and their grown-ups the chance to experience the excitement of a world-class music festival at close quarters.
Led by presenter Maria Thomas, you can expect vibrant virtuosity, romping rhythms and marvellous melodies from Schumann, Mozart and other famous composers, interspersed with anecdotes and lively introductions.
With featured artists including violinist Alina Ibragimova (“phenomenal”, The Guardian), percussionist Bernhard Schimpelsberger (“one of the most technically gifted players we have seen in a long time”, Drummer Magazine) and Royal Opera House Principal Clarinet Matt Glendening, this is a rare chance for your little ones to be wowed by some of today’s greatest classical musicians, in a relaxed and inclusive setting.
Children are welcome to move around and make noise and there will be the chance to see instruments up close and ask questions. Suitable for all ages – and under-2s go free!
