Indulge in seasonal treats from our market stalls—crispy churros with cinnamon sugar, authentic bratwurst with gourmet toppings, and mulled wine or deluxe hot chocolate.

NOW Gallery: Socks: The Art of Care and Repair by Celia Pym

This December, NOW Gallery presents its 2024 Fashion Commission, Socks: The Art of Care and Repair, by London textile artist Celia Pym. The exhibition highlights sustainability in fashion, celebrating the act of mending through darning. Central to the display is the installation of 488 socks, mended by the Surrey Square Primary School community using waste socks from the industry. Pym’s own mended socks, reflecting personal care and creativity, will also be featured.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own socks to mend, with materials and workshops available. Pym’s interactive videos and step-by-step guides will help visitors create their own ‘visible mend’ to take home or display in the gallery. Expert-led darning workshops will run throughout the exhibition.
Sock mending with Celia Pym

Known for her exquisite visible mending, artist Celia Pym will lead a FREE darning workshop so you can breathe new life into your holey-oldies. Pym will demonstrate the woven darn, and you can bring your own socks or damaged garments to repair. This workshop will take place in the NOW Gallery, surrounded by Celia’s current exhibition Socks: the Art of Care and Repair featuring nearly 500 mended socks.

In this soothing Sound Bath session, you’ll experience deep relaxation as the calming frequencies of gongs quiet your mind and still your body. Lay back on a yoga mat and embark on a sonic journey, guided by a sound therapist, who will use various instruments to create a peaceful soundscape. Over the course of an hour, you’ll be gently led into a state of deep relaxation—a perfect way to recharge. Make sure to bring a blanket or yoga mat and a cushion or pillow.
