Wild Arrows Film Screening with Selvagem Collective

July 1, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Uniting myths and stories from across the world with knowledge derived from indigenous, academic, scientific and traditional sources, Selvagem’s short film series, The Wild Arrows, invite audiences into a canoe that carries them back to the diverse rhythms and wisdom of the living world.

Watch the films from the Selvagem collective and listen as Ailton Krenak and Anna Dantes, two of the visionary forces behind the films, discuss the creative process and the film’s relevance to pressing global issues.

This event is part of the Meeting at the River: Navigating Through Diverse Ways of Knowing series hosted by Selvagem, Flourishing Diversity, Where the Leaves Fall, Synchronicity Earth and OmVed Gardens.

The event features the following speakers:

Aílton Krenak is a philosopher, environmentalist and one of the main voices of Indigenous knowledge. Ailton Krenak lives in the Krenak village, close to the River Doce, in Minas Gerais. An advocate for Indigenous peoples’ rights, he was instrumental in ensuring Indigenous territorial rights were recognised in Brazil’s 1988 constitution. He is the author of books including Ideas to Postpone the End of the World and Life is Not Useful.

Anna Dantes founded Dantes Editora in 1994 and in 2018 went on to establish Selvagem. Her work extends her editing and publishing experience to other formats – that became study cycles, exhibitions, meetings, gardens and much more. For ten years, Dantes has been carrying out, along with the Huni Kuin people in Acre, the project Una Shubu Hiwea, the Living School Book.
