Waltham Forest who have been named London’s Borough of Culture for 2019, is Kicking off the special year-long cultural programme is ‘Welcome to the Forest’ – the biggest party Waltham Forest has ever seen. It’s a unique event for all the family designed to celebrate shared past, present and future in this much loved corner of north east London called home.
A huge lighting installation from artists Marshmallow Laser Feast choreographed to a soundscape by composer Erland Cooper working with local schools and choirs will be up. Locally-based international festival curators Continental Drifts will transform Forest Road into a neon-lit wonderland. International in scale and ambition but telling the local stories of this place, it’s time to say to the world: “Welcome to the Forest”.
