The boundary between dream and reality blurs in this hallucinatory coming-of-age work with nightmarish turns.
A girl on the verge of womanhood is introduced to the perilous world of desire, in this gothic folktale filled with macabre symbolism. Between demons, incestuous love and vampiric grandmothers, nothing is what it seems. Made before the cultural restrictions of the normalisation period took over the country’s film industry, this late work of the Czech New Wave still retains its cult status.
