Portman Marylebone Summer Street Party
July 18, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
On Thursday 18 July, annual calendar highlight, the Portman Marylebone Summer Street Party, returns to Seymour Place and New Quebec Street. Free to attend, this year’s event will celebrate storytelling, inspired by the interesting stories behind the independent businesses in Portman Marylebone, and the books that have defined generations.
Visitors will walk through a whimsical walkway of pre-loved books, leading up to a cozy story corner for reading performances and talks for all ages. Guests can dress up in armoured suits from iconic Marylebone museum and art gallery, The Wallace Collection and enjoy interactive performances. Grown-ups and children alike can learn new skills from floral workshops to designing traditional Japanese Orihon sketch books. Throughout the evening, musicians will play a selection of funk, soul and folk songs that will keep guests dancing.
As one of London’s most exciting dining destinations, guests can expect some exceptional street food. New arrival, Everbean Deli will take inspiration from nursery rhymes for each of its dishes of the day and GAILS Bakery will offer freshy baked goods. Bernardi’s will serve modern Italian dishes alongside summer beverages, whilst Basque grill Lurra will be cooking its renowned beef pintxo on its BBQ. London’s top vegetarian restaurant, The Gate, will prepare a selection of dishes to celebrate its 30th birthday, and complementary Corsican pizza slices will be served up at SANDY’s. For more Italian delights, Vinoteca will cook its delicious marinated Bavette skewers accompanied by a selection of popular wines.
Daisy Green will prepare delicious treats at its Alice in Wonderland themed stall, with bunting, flowers and story book masks. Butcher and grill Boxcar will be serving up its summer BBQ and visitors can enjoy oysters and champagne at renowned fishmonger La Petite Poissonnerie. Philglas & Swiggot will be selling wine, there will be plenty of drink options at The Grazing Goat pop-up bar and Zetter Townhouse will serve cocktails and mocktails from its eccentric lounge bar, Seymour’s Parlour whilst sharing the story of wicked Uncle Seymour.
For the first time, the Street Party will welcome restaurants from nearby Chiltern Street Blandford Street and Dorset Street, where Clarette will host ‘female wine-tales’ with tastings of wines produced solely by female producers and served by Head Sommelier Natalia Kozlowska. Ravinder Bhogal’s Jikoni will serve delicious and flavourful light bites throughout the evening.
For one night only, the much-loved boutiques on the street will also be offering special promotions; London Grace will be hosting a ticketed manicure event with drinks and beauty talks. Beachwear designer, Paolita, will offer a 25% discount on the Mexican Riviera collection.
The Portman Marylebone Summer Street Party is working with Carers Network, a charity dedicated to supporting unpaid carers in changing lives across London. There will be a charity raffle with fantastic local prizes on offer on the night. The area’s business improvement districts, Marble Arch London and Baker Street Quarter Partnership, will also be taking part in the festivities.
Complimentary food and drink, and places for the workshops will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis. For more information, visit http://www.portmanmarylebone.com.
