To mark the opening week of the Tokyo Olympic Games, where skateboarding features as an Olympic sport for the first time, Habito, Skateboard GB and Hackney Bumps will be hosting a free ‘learn to skateboard’ event.
Research by Habito has revealed skateboarding to be the most anticipated new sport at the games, according to 1 in 10 Brits. This event will be a celebration of skateboarding as it features at the Games for the first time alongside 28 other summer sports.
We’re calling all families, young people or curious spectators to come along and get stuck into this free event.
There’ll be beginner lessons, giveaways and make-your-own-deck classes. To top things off, we’ll be joined by Skateboard GB rider Alex Decunha. He’ll help us judge the highest ollie competition with the winner taking home £100 cash. (Go get practising!)
If you’d rather keep your feet on the ground, you can come along to watch in person or catch the competition part as it streams online – more details to follow.
