Grayson Perry: “It’s All Your Fault”
April 29, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
An evening of bitter ranting and gross generalisations about those awful, other people.
A fundraising event for the Mayor of Islington’s Charities 2018-19
CARIS Islington has run a Cold Weather Shelter for homeless people since 1997. From early January until the end of March, up to fifteen guests per night are welcomed each evening to one of seven local venues, including The Union Chapel. The guests are given a hot meal, washing facilities and a safe place to sleep. Each venue is staffed by teams of volunteers, who ensure the guests feel at home and are well looked after throughout their time with Caris.
Freightliners City Farm brings the countryside to inner city Islington. It is a free and open access green space where urban people can spend time outdoors, with plants and animals. It provides learning experiences, therapeutic activity and recreation particularly for people who would not otherwise have access to such opportunities. People who visit and volunteer at the farm benefit from better wellbeing, skills development and feel part of the community.
Union Chapel is an amazing space. It is an architectural treasure that’s home to a working church, an award winning venue, a unique organ and The Margins Project for those homeless and in crisis in London.
Margins Cafe will be serving delicious, hot, homemade food at the event. All profits support The Margins Project which provides wide raging services for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The project supports people to get back on their feet, and build the skills, resilience, and confidence to break the cycle of homelessness.
Union Chapel Bar will be open until 10.30pm
Doors: 6.30pm. Seats: 7.25pm. Programme time: 65mins
