On the 80th anniversary of Etty Hillesum’s death in Auschwitz, we present ‘Etty…In Transit’.
‘Etty…In Transit’ is a multimedia production inspired by the diaries of Etty Hillesum and running from 30th November – 10th December at The Crypt, Bethnal Green. The play, crafted by Paul Gateshill to show Etty’s verbatim experience, is interspersed with video projections of Sam, a modern day model, who learns how to process her own mental health through Etty’s insights.
‘Etty… In Transit’ is the culmination of 25 years of development and creative collaborations. The aesthetics/set design are by Ignacio Llamas (Best Living Spanish Artist ARCO 2016), performance by Sarah Finch (RSC, West End, BBC) and Etty is being produced by ‘the Lion’s part’, a wonderful charity who run the ‘October Plenty’ and ‘Twelfth Night’ festivals in Bankside with the patronage of Sir Mark Rylance.
Run time up to 80 Minutes without interval. Please note that The Crypt is not wheelchair accessible. As a historical building, heating is limited so please bring warm layers. There will also be moments of flashing lights.
