Critically acclaimed documentary about three young Bosnian brothers from director Francesco Montagner.
Jabir, Usama and Useir are three young Bosnian brothers born into a family of shepherds. They grew up in the shadow of their father, Ibrahim, a strict, radical Islamist preacher. When Ibrahim gets sentenced to two years in prison for war participation and terrorism, the three brothers are suddenly left on their own. Beginning to question their father’s teaching, they explore their newly acquired freedom. Growing up has never felt more intimate or exhausting as they struggle, fight, and face each other, their distinct identities developing in front of our eyes.
This deserved winner of the 2021 Locarno International Film Festival by Czech-based Italian director Francesco Montagner is an intimate and universal tale about youth, manhood, the search for identity and the need to deal with the uncomfortable presence of a strict father.
