Free Art Exhibitions in London

ALL WELCOME!

Critically acclaimed multidisciplinary artist and poet Michelle Baharier is hosting a solo exhibition. The Slade alumni is displaying work inspired by her own experience of the Pandemic. COVID Diaries presents one artist’s perspective – a snapshot in time of the unknown.

– Open from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 November 2021 -11 am- 5 pm
– Private view Tuesday 23 November 6:30 – 8:30 pm
– Bring a Covid Poem to read on Saturday 27 November (4-6 pm)

Michelle’s work reflects our collective experience of the Pandemic. Her bold use of palette and texture lets our emotions flow.
During the first lockdown, Michelle’s partner was hospitalised by COVID. As a result, Michelle was forced to quarantine with her precarious mental health. Moreover, she had a broken washing machine and leaking sink that no plumber would attend to. Nevertheless, Michelle kept herself grounded by recording her daily experience with digital drawing, painting, photography, and maintaining a daily diary.
The show includes commissioned portraits of:
– artist Penny Pepper
– actress & activist Liz Carr
– disabled journalist & editor of the Disability News Service John Pring
– disability rights campaigner and member of the House of Lords Baroness Jane Campbell
– live art, performance and video artist Katherine Araniello.

Michelle will work on handmade limited editions of her diary during exhibition hours, collecting them into the first of many book pieces.
Her work will be available for sale; take home a new image for your living room and workspace. Michelle takes commissions & is on-site to discuss your requirements.
Arts Council England’s Lottery Fund funds this exhibition.

Michelle is a contemporary, multidisciplinary fine art inspired by punk DIY and squatting. Due to severe dyslexia, she started making art as a child and excelled in art. She is an alumnus of The Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, and University of the Arts. In 2021, Michelle received an award from Arts Council England Lottery Fund to produce “The Walkie Talkies,” digital art pieces on display at the London Transport Museum.
