Karel Šejnoha (Zdeněk Svěrák’s alter ego), a well-known, aging writer, faces writer‘s block. He has a head full of unfinished stories whose fictional characters start to appear in real life, lobbying for their stories to be finally completed. Each and every one of them demands something. The photographer Matěj wants the beautiful but unapproachable pharmacist Vendula, the car mechanic, Bakalář, would like to be a healer, and Bohumil asks for a miracle for his son. And there is also Šejnoha’s wife who feels neglected and wants her husband to devote himself to her instead of writing. The intertwined stories pass freely from reality to fiction and back, exploring love, marriage, faith, and miracles. This is a bitter-sweet comedy with a stellar cast from the Oscar winner Jan Svěrák (Kolya), full of humour, irony, and clever dialogue.
