Comedy legend, playwriter and author, and Scope Patron, Ben Elton, is to host a special evening of stand up comedy for disability equality charity Scope. Ben Elton’s Comedy Night for Scope is at The Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday 21 December 2019.
Ben Elton will be introducing Tim Renkow, Chris McCausland, Shazia Mirza, Jo Coffey and Kae Kurd and, will be performing for the second half of the show.
Ben Elton, Patron of disability equality charity Scope, says:
“It’s an honour to perform at this special comedy event for disability equality charity Scope. I can’t think of a more fitting way to end the year.
“As a Scope Patron, I know too well that negative attitudes towards disabled people are no laughing matter, but I believe that comedy can play a key role in challenging misconceptions and tackling negative attitudes.
“Scope research has found 49 percent of disabled people feel excluded from society. We all need to see more disabled people on the stage, on our screens and in the media, and this exceptional event puts disabled people firmly centre stage.”
