Written in verse with the gleeful irreverence of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes, Fishwives catapults the forgotten heroines of history onto centre stage—louder, looser, and far less ladylike than you remember.
Penned and performed by seasoned comedy poet Abi Unwin-Smith (RCSSD), with a decade of live mischief under her belt, this anarchic hour fuses poetry, storytelling and movement with the high-energy chaos of vaudeville. Expect stripping suffragettes, scandalous monarchs and the odd persecuted pudenda—no petticoat will be left unruffled.
After a decade on the UK and Australian comedy and poetry circuits, Fishwives now bursts forth as a full-throttle show: a bawdy mash-up of brains, bosoms, and belly laughs. In an age when women’s rights still hang precariously in the balance, this show wields laughter as both weapon and salve.
