Euripides’ CYCLOPS and Aristophanes’ CLOUDS

Thiasos Theatre Company returns to the Cockpit with a double bill of Euripides’ Cyclops – the only surviving satyr play – and Aristophanes’ Clouds. Both productions feature singing and dancing choruses with new music by Manuel Jimenez. Cyclops follows Odysseus and his crew as they confront Polyphemus with help from a chorus of satyrs. Clouds sees philosopher Socrates running a “thinking shop” where a debt‑ridden farmer learns rhetorical tricks to outwit his creditors. Expect satire, slapstick and rarely performed masterpieces. Post‑show talks with scholars Edith Hall (17 Sep) and Fiona MacIntosh (19 Sep) are included, and the production contains bawdy comedy and sexual references.
