The Flower of Story
Saturday November 22 , 2.00pm – 5.00pm GMT

October Gallery, 24 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AL

Why do we tell stories? What is a story made of? What makes a story memorable and tellable?
This workshop is for any beginner who would like to explore story and learn some simple storytelling skills.

Are you a teacher or writer, an actor or carer, a librarian or public speaker – anyone who wants to find out more about storytelling? Join Pomme in this creative and practical workshop. She will share her knowledge about why folk and fairytales are valuable to us today and help you discover your own heritage of stories – even if you think you don’t have one! And lead you through some playful, practical and creative tasks exploring: story structure; memory; visualisation and meaning, to help you develop your storytelling skills. The Flower of Story is the way Pomme describes the living process of storytelling: plant; grow; bloom; scatter. This process keeps stories alive and relevant to each audience, and is how similar stories appear in different parts of the World. The workshop will introduce you to her ideas about the magnificent Flower of Story. Pomme has been leading workshops for many years and her style is warm, enabling and creative. Come and find out why we need stories now. And how you can bring stories and storytelling into your life and for those around you.
