Event Navigation

The Czech Centre is delighted to announce the Wigmore Hall recital debut of exceptional Czech violinist Kryštof Kohout on Sunday 27 July 2025 at 7:30pm, as the recipient of the 2025 Guildhall Wigmore Recital Prize. A rising star on the international stage, Kohout is celebrated for his expressive virtuosity, deep musical insight, and charismatic performances.
The evening places a special focus on Czech music, with two London premieres by Czech composers at its heart. Kohout will perform Sonata for Violin and Piano “Hands” by Luboš Fišer, a powerful and emotionally evocative work, and Romance élégiaque by renowned violinist-composer Váša Příhoda, a poignant and rarely heard miniature of lyrical beauty.
Kohout will be joined by pianist Edward Leung in a programme that also features Bartók’s Sonata for Solo Violin and Richard Strauss’s Violin Sonata in E-flat, works that highlight Kohout’s remarkable interpretive range.
An award-winning soloist and chamber musician, Kohout has performed at Carnegie Hall, Musikverein Vienna, and the Konzerthaus Berlin, with broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Czech Radio, and BR Klassik. He is a laureate of the Bartók World Competition, a Musicians’ Company Silver Medal recipient, and a member of the Classeek Ambassador Programme.
Currently studying with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Kohout plays a fine Vincenzo Panormo violin, generously loaned by the Harrison Frank Family Foundation.
