SUMMARY:The House - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery presents The House\, an exhibition of works by Tom Clark\, Guest-Host-Guest\, Harri Harrison\, Heiðdís Hólm\, Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson\, Anna Sebastian\, Kristina Stallvik and Suzanne Treister. It features work that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speaks to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. \nThe exhibition is a place where we might live. Often\, when visitors come to this gallery\, they ask her if she lives here. They ask\, “Do you live here?” They ask\, “Are these your cats?” I lived here once too. I don’t anymore. This exhibition is about living somewhere. Perhaps it is about reaching for this thing. \nIn the words of Guest-Host-Guest: ‘Here\, the house is a metaphor for assumed belonging. A place we are expected to be ‘resolved’ or ‘satisfied’\, even when displacement\, precarity\, and contested ownership sit just beneath the surface.’ \nThe exhibition is a hand with a mirror in front of it. The mirror reflects some flowers or a field. Behind the hand is a sky. In front of the sky is a blank\, featureless wall. All these things at various distances from the camera. A cat; a home; a gallery; a municipality listed on a birth certificate (since burned). The house. \nCurating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency\nOnline Course with Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson \nApril – May 2026 \nOrganised to coincide with The House\, join us for a four-session online course exploring how we live with art\, and how the art we live with shapes the way we live. \nHeld fortnightly\, Curating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency invites you to look closely at the rooms\, objects\, and artworks that surround you. Drawing on art practices\, histories\, philosophy\, exhibition-making\, and practices of everyday attention\, we will explore how meaning is shaped through arrangement\, context\, and the lived rhythms of domestic space. \nLed by artist\, educator\, and curator Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson and hosted by IMT Gallery\, each session brings together case studies\, creative exercises\, and guided activities designed to help you think with and through your own environment. \nPlaces are limited — the course begins 12 April. Click here for full course detail \n_ \nPictured: Anna Sebastian\, detail of ‘Esalon’ (2024)\, oil on canvas\, 100 x 100cm \nSuzanne Treister is represented by Annely Juda Fine Art\, London\, P.P.O.W\, New York and The Ryder\, Madrid.

SUMMARY:Noisy World - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:With simple line drawings of ordinary objects and mundane moments\, Perfect outlines an alternative vision to the competitive pursuit of perfectionism in modern society. \nAs though retrieved from a surreal flower press\, people\, plants and vessels are presented flattened and slightly out of shape; multiple minimalist selves cross architectural and art historical references; impressions of unrelated scenes captured on paper. \nWith each drawing a gentle act of rebellion\, against colour theory and perspective\, against hierarchies between foreground and background\, humans and things\, Noisy World celebrates the humane and humorous aspects of everyday life. \nGallery opening hours:\nSaturdays 10 am – 4 pm\nSundays 12 noon – 4 pm

SUMMARY:Journey of Light
DESCRIPTION:Journey of Light is a solo exhibition of recent works by London-based artist Özlem Sorlu Thompson\, whose vibrant paintings embody the Mediterranean sun of her native Turkey. \n  \nThe centrepiece of the show was directly inspired by a recent visit to Şeytan Sofrası\, a volcanic hilltop on the Aegean coast known for a mythical lava pond that\, according to legend\, marks the spot where the devil left his footprint as he was expelled from heaven. \n  \nWhat started as a sketch on a small canvas grew into a polyptych and the artist’s largest painting to date. As each section blends into the next and layers of imaginary florals cover the dreamlike landscape\, Thompson takes us on a visual journey that merges ancient folklore with hopes for the future. \n  \nInitially approaching flora and fauna\, and exotic plants in particular\, with scientific curiosity\, Thompson’s art is guided by intuition and an interest in the less tangible qualities\, expressing her love for nature. Carrying the sun within them\, her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections as far afield as Dubai and the Americas. \n  \nJourney of Light marks the tenth anniversary of Özlem Sorlu Thompson’s move to North London and serves as a symbolic link between her motherland and her chosen home.

SUMMARY:Desire to Create: Baťa's Architecture of Belonging
DESCRIPTION:The Czech Centre London\, in collaboration with the Tomáš Baťa Foundation and the Bata Heritage Centre\, marks the 150th anniversary of Czech entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa\, founder of the global Baťa Shoe Company\, with an exhibition exploring his achievements\, guiding principles\, and their realisation in East Tilbury. It reveals how ideas about work\, culture\, sport\, health and community were embedded in the design of the built environment. \nThe exhibition unfolds in two complementary strands. Desire to Create presents Baťa’s legacy as a comprehensive philosophy\, uniting work with service\, enterprise with education\, and personal development with responsibility towards others – not as a relic of the past\, but as a continuing source of inspiration. Baťa’s Architecture of Belonging brings East Tilbury to life through architectural drawings\, historic photographs and original artefacts\, evoking its distinctive modernist atmosphere. Together\, they trace how ideas were translated into built form – from vision to planning\, from planning to everyday life – creating a cohesive narrative of belonging\, work and community. \nOrganised by the Czech Centre London in partnership with the Bata Heritage Centre. \n\nEXHIBITION OPENING\nThursday 9 April 2026\, 6.30 – 8.30 pm\nFree entry\, Register Here\nEXHIBITION DATES: 10 April – 12 June 2026\nVENUE & OPENING TIMES\nVitrínka Gallery\, Czech Centre London\n30 Kensington Palace Gardens\, London\, W8 4QY\nOpening hours: Tue – Fri 10 am – 5 pm

SUMMARY:Jeremy Jeffs – Lives We Cannot Live
DESCRIPTION:Documentary film maker and photographer Jeremy Jeffs spent three years photographing and interviewing people with ME in their homes. Lives We Cannot Live reveals the hidden reality of living with the condition. \nCurated by Sebah Chaudhry and supported by the ME Association\, the exhibition sets out to bring visibility to a hidden and neglected community and encompasses environmental portraits\, collaged with diary notes and personal memories of before being ill\, selected from more than 50 cases. \nDiagnosed with ME as a teenager\, Jeffs shares the lived experiences of his sitters and captures an intimate side of life rarely witnessed even by close friends. Hidden symptoms mixed with a general lack of awareness make this a doubly invisible and isolating disease. \n“I started this project out of frustration and anger because in the almost four decades since my diagnosis nothing has really changed. We still don’t know much about ME\, there’s still a lack of proper funding for research\, no clear treatment\, and worse\, there’s still widespread misunderstanding about the illness\, even among some healthcare professionals.” \nAround 400\,000 people in the UK have this debilitating and as yet incurable illness. Symptoms include profound fatigue\, sleep disturbance\, post-exertional malaise\, cognitive difficulties and a range of other symptoms like pain\, headaches\, nausea and intolerance to lights and noise. \nLives We Cannot Live is the first large scale project to focus on ME and precedes the publication of a photo book with Fistful of Books later this year.

SUMMARY:The Friends of Holland Park Art Exhibition 2026
DESCRIPTION:This spring\, The Friends of Holland Park once again turns the Orangery at the heart of the park into an art gallery. \nFor more than forty years\, Friends who are artists and artists who become Friends have come together to show and sell their artwork. The colourful presentation of works by more than 80 predominantly local artists ranges from greeting cards and small prints to large paintings\, from pieces of jewellery to ceramics and sculpture \nA jury led by curator and artist Gordon French awards cash prizes for artistic excellence in several categories as well as for work that best expresses the Spirit of Holland Park. Visitors can support The Friends of Holland Park by buying a work from the exhibition or by entering the raffle for one of the tempting prizes donated by local businesses. \nEvery year\, one artist is offered a dedicated feature wall for a more extensive presentation. This year\, The Friends invited Gordon French to provide a mini-retrospective of his own creative practice to thank him and his family for organising the art exhibition for the past 12 years. \nThe concept of holding an art show at the heart of Holland Park was introduced by Christopher Wood and the late Sir Hugh Casson\, renowned architect and former President of the Royal Academy\, during their respective tenures as Chairman and President of the Friends of Holland Park. \nWorking in close liaison with the local borough and park staff\, The Friends of Holland Park is a local community group dedicated to the preservation\, protection and improvement of Holland Park as a place of historic and ecological interest and beauty. \nThe exhibition is sponsored by The Ilchester Estates\, which is fitting as the Ilchester family were the last private owners of Holland House.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a four-session online course exploring how we live with art\, and how the art we live with shapes the way we live. \nCurating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency invites you to look closely at the rooms\, objects\, and artworks that surround you. SUMMARY:Neel Kolhatkar - Black Belt Comedy - Live
DESCRIPTION:Neel Kolhatkar returns to London with a brand new show \nIf you saw Neel in 2024 this is a brand new show with new material. \n  \nEarlybird tickets only £10! (Limited available) \nNeel Kolhatkar loves two things — comedy and martial arts. What he admires most about martial arts is the belt system: a clear marker of skill earned through skill and experience. Neel believes comedy should be no different. \nWith social media flooded by stand-ups of every stripe\, there’s no way to gauge a comedian’s experience and skill level — so why not introduce comedy belts? From ‘white belts’ telling dad jokes to ‘black belts’ tackling dark\, taboo topics with nuance and precision. \nBlack Belt Comedy is Neel’s personal challenge — to earn the right to say the hardest things in the funniest way. \nNeel Kolhatkar is known for his sharp observational\, cultural\, and political comedy — always walking the fine line between edgy and highbrow. He describes his style much like himself: “dark and intelligent.” \nThis year’s show dives into cultural quirks\, relationships and modern social dynamics\, all delivered with Neel’s signature impressions and accents. He’s also branching into fresh ground\, with exciting new material and top-tier support acts rounding out the night. \nDon’t miss Neel Kolhatkar’s brand new show – Black Belt Comedy. Backyard Comedy Club\, London\, Sunday November 16th. \nBook now. \nNote\, there will be strong controversial/political/adult themes.

SUMMARY:Gothic Opera presents: Die Rheinnixen
DESCRIPTION:Unconventional opera company Gothic Opera returns to Battersea Arts Centre this Halloween\, this time with the UK staged premiere of Die Rheinnixen (The Nixies of the Rhine)\, an unjustly neglected\, Romantic work by Jacques Offenbach. \nDie Rheinnixen\, which is Offenbach’s first take on grand opera\, encompasses the growing nationalism of its time\, as well as the genre’s fascination with the supernatural. Gothic Opera is delighted to be staging this horror story for the first time in the UK. \nIn the capable hands of the award-winning international stage director Max Hoehn\, the evocative crumbling architecture of Battersea Arts Centre’s Grand Hall will be transformed into the time of the Weimar Republic\, a period of nationalism and unease. \nIn a bold production that will speak to our current times\, Gothic Opera will be joined by exciting conductor Hannah von Wiehler\, who has a very busy career across Europe. Leon Haxby\, the young composer whose previous work for the company was praised in Opera magazine for its “haunting magic” and “compassionate insight\,” has created a new chamber orchestration of the opera for seven instruments. A cast of talented singers will bring the characters and story to life. \nDie Rheinnixen performance details:\n30th October\, 7.30pm\n31st October\, 7.30pm\n1st November\, 7.30pm\n2nd November\, 5.00pm \nSung in German with English surtitles.

SUMMARY:Loot
DESCRIPTION:A darkly funny\, biting satire of the Roman Catholic Church\, social attitudes to death\, and the integrity of the police force\, Loot follows young thieves Dennis and Hal\, who rob the bank next door to the funeral parlour where Dennis works and hide the stolen money in Hal’s mother’s coffin. When Inspector Truscott arrives to investigate\, the pair do everything they can to throw him off the trail\, aided by Nurse McMahon and Hal’s long-suffering father\, Mr McLeavy. \nWhat follows is a whirlwind of cover-ups\, escalating confusion\, and brazen audacity\, filled with razor-sharp dialogue\, physical farce\, and increasingly outrageous twists that spiral into the absurd as everyone scrambles to stay one step ahead.

SUMMARY:Fishwives
DESCRIPTION:Step right up for FISHWIVES—a riotous comedy cabaret that’s smutty\, feminist\, historical\, and dare we say\, hysterical. \nIf Chaucer had a potty-mouthed sister with a vendetta against the patriarchy\, this is the show she’d have made. Written in verse with the gleeful irreverence of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes\, Fishwives catapults the forgotten heroines of history onto centre stage—louder\, looser\, and far less ladylike than you remember. \nPenned and performed by seasoned comedy poet Abi Unwin-Smith (RCSSD)\, with a decade of live mischief under her belt\, this anarchic hour fuses poetry\, storytelling and movement with the high-energy chaos of vaudeville. Expect stripping suffragettes\, scandalous monarchs and the odd persecuted pudenda—no petticoat will be left unruffled. \nAfter a decade on the UK and Australian comedy and poetry circuits\, Fishwives now bursts forth as a full-throttle show: a bawdy mash-up of brains\, bosoms\, and belly laughs. In an age when women’s rights still hang precariously in the balance\, this show wields laughter as both weapon and salve. \nSo gird your loins\, ladies and gents. These lusty bawds have stories to tell—and it’s about bloody time we listened.

The colourful presentation of works by more than 80 predominantly local artists ranges from greeting cards and small prints to large paintings\, as well as jewellery\, ceramics\, and sculpture. \n  \nA jury led by curator and artist Gordon French awards cash prizes for artistic excellence in several categories as well as for work that best expresses the Spirit of Holland Park. \n  \nThe concept of holding an art show at the heart of Holland Park was introduced by Christopher Wood and the late Sir Hugh Casson\, renowned architect and former President of the Royal Academy\, during their respective tenures as Chairman and President of the Friends of Holland Park. \n  \nWorking in close liaison with the local borough and park staff\, The Friends of Holland Park is a local community group dedicated to the preservation\, protection and improvement of Holland Park as a place of historic and ecological interest and beauty. \n  \nThe exhibition is sponsored by The Ilchester Estates\, which is fitting as the Ilchester family were the last private owners of Holland House.

Dr Anna Hájková examines why the history of same-sex desire during the Shoah – queerness among Jews persecuted by the Nazis for their race – is largely absent from history books\, and how restoring these narratives can contribute to a more inclusive understanding of the Holocaust. \nBased on extensive archival research and oral histories\, her book\, recently awarded the 75th National Jewish Book Award in the Holocaust category\, offers concise\, accessible insight into the queer history of the Holocaust for both general readers and specialists. On Monday\, 13th April\, Anna will discuss her research in conversation with Rabbi Kamila Kopřivová on the occasion of Yom HaShoah\, the annual day of Holocaust remembrance in the Jewish calendar. \n\n6.30 pm – Erev Yom HaShoah Service\n7 pm – In Conversation\, followed by Q&A and refreshments\nEarly Bird Tickets: £15 members / £20 non-members\nEarly bird ends Monday\, 6 April\nBOOK NOW\n\nDr Anna Hájková is a Reader of modern European continental history at the University of Warwick. She is the author of\, among others\, The Last Ghetto: An Everyday History of Theresienstadt (2020) and People Without History Are Dust: Queer Desire in the Holocaust (2025)\, which won the 75th National Jewish Book Award in the Holocaust category in February. Hájková is the pioneer of queer Holocaust history.

SUMMARY:BILL ORCUTT + ALEXANDER TUCKER
DESCRIPTION:Upset The Rhythm presents… \nBILL ORCUTT\nALEXANDER TUCKER\nMonday 13 April\nBush Hall\, 310 Uxbridge Rd\, Shepherds Bush\, London W12 7LJ\n7.30pm | £18 | Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/U67bfce667c6 \nBILL ORCUTT is a guitarist and composer. He has been described as “thrillingly original” (Will Ainsley\, Bandcamp Daily) as “a go-for-broke guitar improviser” (Ben Ratliff\, New York Times) “\, creating a new language (Marc Masters\, Pitchfork) whose playing would “make Derek Bailey do a double-take” (Lars Gotrich\, NPR). Orcutt tours actively\, appearing at festivals worldwide\, including Rewire (The Hague)\, Presences Electronique (Paris)\, Jazz em Agosto (Lisbon)\, Goner Fest (Memphis)\, Musique Actuelle (Victoriaville)\, Big Ears (Knoxville)\, Music Unlimited (Wels)\, Le Guess Who? (Utrecht)\, Nouveau Festival du Centre Pompidou (Paris)\, Unsound (Kraków)\, une session à Maida Vale pour BBC 3 (London) et un Tiny Desk concert pour NPR. \n2025 saw Orcutt release ‘Another Perfect Day’\, his first solo electric guitar record since 2017’s eponymous Bill Orcutt. While that eight-year gap might not seem like a ton of time on the cosmic scale\, it nonetheless represents a busy half-decade plus for Orcutt projects: a raft of improv collaborations\, an acclaimed run of chopped and looped albums on Fake Estates\, and the collision of Orcutt’s computer and guitar music on Music For Four Guitars and last year’s How to Rescue Things\, both on Palilalia. The undeniable alchemy of those latter mashups inspired not only a wider appreciation of Orcutt-as-composer\, but also the resurrection of Orcutt-as-bandleader\, as the Bill Orcutt Quartet hit the road in support of Four Guitars\, Orcutt’s first work with a proper score. ‘Another Perfect Day’ sees Orcutt building tension with short phrases\, repeated with slight variability until it seems like they’ll never stop\, finally slamming into a fresh line like the dawning valley at the crest of the mountain pass. It’s an affirmation that Orcutt is above all a lead player – angular runs scaling the heavens\, ricocheting back to ground zero before climbing again.\nhttps://billorcutt.bandcamp.com/ \nALEXANDER TUCKER returns to the guitar after spending the last few years focusing on his modular experimental techno guise MICROCORPS. Since the early 2000s\, Tucker has released solo guitar and cello-based albums on Thrill Jockey Records\, Subtext\, and ATP Recordings\, blending songs\, electronics\, strings\, vocals and extended techniques. Creating music that sits between structured songwriting\, composition\, drone\, and noise\, Tucker is also a prolific collaborator\, with projects that include tape-loop duo Imbogodom and electronic pop with Grumbling Fur and Charlemagne Palestine. More recent live collaborations include work with Lasse Marhaug\, Kenichi Iwasa\, and Elvin Brandhi. \n2026 sees Tucker melding his past work with acoustic guitar with his present explorations with modular synth systems and electronics\, processing minimal steel-string guitar into unrecognisable sonic forms through improvisation\, synthesis and electronic manipulation. Tucker’s investigations into electroacoustic and music concrete composition have led him to seek out ways to warp\, stretch and mangle his own guitar playing beyond its original form\, revelling in the sheer pleasure of transforming sound and creating imaginary and unspoken spaces. \nhttps://alexandertucker.bandcamp.com/music

SUMMARY:Tereza Stehlikova @ absolute now II
DESCRIPTION:‘Eternity does not exist anywhere but in changing time. Eternity is the absolute now.’ –  D.T. Suzuki\, Time and Eternity (1956) \nRieko Akatsuka – George Barber – Kaz – Guy Sherwin – Tereza Stehlikova \nFor the 10th anniversary of absolute now\, a group exhibition originally held in Tokyo\, five artists return to explore the enduring paradox of time: the coexistence of the fixed and the fluid\, the eternal and the ever-changing. \nAmong the new works presented\, Czech artist Tereza Stehlikova contributes a video installation that expands on her long-term project 4 Generations of Women (2012). Her piece immerses viewers in a layered reality where personal\, familial\, and more-than-human identities converge. Through the poetic use of moving image\, Stehlíková explores how selfhood is entangled with ancestry\, descendants\, and the natural world — revealing a timeless quality within the rhythms of change. Boundaries dissolve: between mother and daughter\, self and other\, human and non-human\, past and future\, yet something essential endures in the very act of being present. \nAs with the other participating artists\, Stehlikova uses the language of the moving image\, a medium built from stillness in motion\, to question what ‘absolute now’ means in a socio-political context transformed over the past decade. The exhibition reflects on how we inhabit the present in a time when truth feels increasingly unstable and digital technologies offer continual escape from the here and now. \nThe exhibition is curated by Kaz and will include a curated programme of events. \nFor further information\, please contact danielle@daniellearnaud.com. \nThe gallery is open by appointment only.   \nMore info about the exhibition on the DANIELLE ARNAUD website.
