SUMMARY:Queer Planet
DESCRIPTION:London drag King Bi-Curious George presents Queer Planet\, a raucous drag celebration of queerness and the animal kingdom. \n\n\n\n“Move over David Attenborough\, there’s a new nature king in town.” \n\n\n\nBi-Curious George is a rising star of the London drag scene and the 2022 winner of the prestigious Not Another Drag Competition at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Their work centres around queer ecology\, queerness in the natural world. \n\n\n\nQueer Planet is a raucous romp through the animal kingdom which aims to shatter the heteronormative binaries through which we view the natural world. It is both a parody of and a homage to Britain’s beloved nature documentaries. Combining stand-up comedy\, parody songs\, drag and all manner of ridiculous behaviour\, George takes the audience through some of the many animals who display queer behaviour\, from dolphin orgies to hermaphroditic snails\, from transgender fish to gay giraffes. \n\n\n\nThe piece is a love letter to nature and all its exuberance\, as well as to the queer community. It encourages the audience to question everything they think they know about the natural world and reframe how we think about our own identities. \n\n\n\nEach night will also feature two guest performers from the London drag scene\, including; Richard Energy (death drop); Charlie Wood (NADC\, Miss-Ellaneous); and Die Lemma (Top of the Slops\, NADC\, Queerdos Cabaret). And more TBA!

SUMMARY:Right Dishonourable Friend
DESCRIPTION:Tony Blair\, Nick Clegg\, Rishi Sunak – She’s hardly the first Southerner to represent a Northern constituency. What she lacks in political experience\, she makes up for in… charm? \n\n\n\nWhen nepotism hire of the year\, Perdita\, is appointed as MP for the fictional Lancashire town of Ardenton\, she thinks that her wealth of social experience and the fact that she’s the former Home Secretary’s Daughter are all the qualifications that she needs; but how wrong she is. \n\n\n\n‘She’s certainly driven’\, ‘Yeah\, driven me over the edge!’. Perdita’s eyes are set on the top of the political ladder\, but when the needs of her constituents start to get in the way\, and she’s faced with the choice of helping a young\, queer constituent who’s in desperate need of support or her own political ambitions\, which will she choose? \n\n\n\nDebuting at VAULT Festival 2023\, this hilarious yet bittersweet dark comedy is an urgent piece of theatre that shines a spotlight on the ever-prevalent North/South divide. \n\n\n\nWritten by Eoin McKenna & Phoebe Batteson-Brown \n\n\n\n14th-18th February 2023\, 8 pm (7.30 pm on 18th)\, VAULT Festival. £13 Tickets. Co-produced by Metamorph Theatre and new company\, Enough Helen Productions. \n\n\n\nPRAISE FOR PREVIOUS WORK BY METAMORPH THEATRE \n\n\n\nThe Good Landlord \n\n\n\n‘A delightfully weird comedy where it feels like anything can happen’ The Spy in the Stalls ★★★★ \n\n\n\n‘An interesting commentary on the current social climate… and cleverly illustrates the lengths that young people are willing to go to for decently priced rent.’ Within Her Words ★★★★ \n\n\n\n‘Metamorph Theatre have done an excellent job with this staging of The Good Landlord\, they have allowed the power of the comedic writing to shine through\, supplemented by some very accomplished performances.’ Theatre Weekly ★★★★ \n\n\n\nRISE \n\n\n\n‘This play could have the potential to offer a true insight into countries with horrendous inequality and raise awareness.’ A Younger Theatre ★★★★

SUMMARY:SURFACING
DESCRIPTION:NHS therapist Luc is fine. Honest. She’s definitely not overwhelmed by meeting Owen\, a new client\, definitely not freaked out by what she’s started seeing\, definitely doesn’t think her reality has been punctured and something else is leaking in. Luc goes for a swim and feels a hand dragging her down to the bottom of the lake… \nWhen she surfaces\, her reality is different. She’s haunted by tormented mice\, shape-shifting people\, and secrets she thought she’d buried. \nIn this breath-taking new two-hander\, motion sensor tech combines with motion-responsive video design and composition to create a contemporary Through the Looking Glass world. \nAll performances relaxed\, audiodescribed and captioned. \nSURFACING is a new play by Tom Powell\, 2021 Papatango Prize winner (‘A modest masterpiece’ ★★★★★ – The Stage)\, directed by RTST Sir Peter Hall Award 2022 winner Stephen Bailey\, their first collaboration since ★★★★★\, Offie-nominated Little Echoes. Performed by Rosie Gray (Barrel Organ & Olivier Award winner for The Old Bridge) and Daniel Rainford (Private Peaceful & Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied Tunisia). After Little Echoes. \n\n \n\n

SUMMARY:DOG HAIR at VAULT Festival 2023
DESCRIPTION:‘Asbestos ceilings don’t break like glass’ \n\n\n\nAfter the death of SON’s Nan\, SON returns to his hometown\, but MAM’s boyfriend\, MIKE\, not from the area\, has other ideas about what’s best for them.  As the town’s grip re-takes its hold\, SON struggles to suppress his rising grief\, tensions with MIKE intensify\, and there can only be so long until the levy breaks. Lost\, angry and broken\, SON is forced to confront the question: can you ever truly leave the place you’re from? Full of wit\, warmth and unstereotyped working-class charm\, bite and tenderness\, DOG HAIR is about the struggle between place and identity and how ‘No matter how far you go from home\, you’ll always have dog hair on your clothes’. (May also include instances of Genesis). \n\n\n\nA quick-witted\, lyrical and devastating new 3-hander\, DOG HAIR is written by Phillip Jones (BWL BOY – BBC WALES\, Best Actor: It’s My Shout for PACKAGED – BBC Wales)\, and produced by Rachel Thomas (Associate Producer: WHOLE\, Wildcard Theatre’s multi award-winning RUCKUS) for 7th Sense Theatre\, a company existing to make ‘class theatre\, without the divide’. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nABOUT 7TH SENSE \n\n\n\nSeventh Sense Theatre Ltd is a registered company founded in 2018 to create ‘class theatre\, without the divide’. They produce work for & about people whose stories go untold\, give those audiences a voice\, & most importantly\, take those shows to them. They aim to provide a platform for artists to take risks & develop through collaboration\, regardless of experience or class background.  In 2020 they were selected for Wildcard Theatre’s 4 OF A KIND scheme for ‘4 of the UK’s most exciting emerging companies’. SUMMARY:A Society (for the Cutting Up of Men)
DESCRIPTION:A SOCIETY (FOR THE CUTTING UP OF MEN) is a frenetic mashup of satirical texts about what the world would look like without patriarchy. An unconventional partnership of Virginia Woolf and Valerie Solanas\, like going to your Oxford friend’s dinner party and then your Dalston friend’s underground rave on the same night. Think wit\, then think spit. Think liberation\, then detonation. If you’ve ever dreamed with your friends about queer utopia\, wondered why we haven’t yet abolished the work-money system\, or simply just desired a room of one’s own\, then this one’s for you.

SUMMARY:SCRATCHES
DESCRIPTION:A funny and honest new play about self-harm and recovery.  \n\n\n\n“So\, I have to grab a pair of socks off the dryer and put them on so they can kind of soak up the blood and hide my ankles… I said I was wearing the socks because if your feet are warm\, you’re more likely to orgasm. Which is true\, by the way.”  \n\n\n\nMeet GIRL. For too long\, she’s been hiding her scratches with unfashionably long socks\, clever white lies and period pads. But now she and her fabulous BEST FRIEND are here to set the record straight.  \n\n\n\nSCRATCHES is a story of the events that shape us. It’s about self-harm\, recovery and reaching out to friends. It’s about talking through the hard stuff\, but with stand-up\, cabaret\, and confetti.  \n\n\n\nSo much confetti.

We Need To Talk\, a Jazz Cabaret was nominated for an OffFest award for Best Theatre at the Greater Manchester Fringe. \n\n\n\nWe Need To Talk\, a Jazz Cabaret explores the journey of a break-up through an honest\, raw and unappetising lens\, sharing the most vulnerable moments with a sprinkle of humour and Mancunian charm. This story is woven together with jazz classics featuring songs sung by Ella Fitzgerald\, Etta James\, Eva Cassidy\, Nina Simone and many more. \n\n\n\nTechnology plays a crucial part in how we find\, interact and obsess over love with apps designed to match\, social media designed to flaunt and the ability to encapsulate memories forever. Love is a human right\, to be shared between two (or even more) people\, regardless of race\, gender\, religion or sexual preference. Who is this mysterious lover? Is it a woman? Is it a man? Who cares! \n\n\n\nIn the words of RuPaul “If you can’t love yourself\, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” \n\n\n\nYou can watch the trailer here\, We Need To Talk\, a Jazz Cabaret Trailer. \n\n\n\nThe Pit\, VAULT Festival\, Waterloo \n\n\n\nFriday 27th January 11pm\, Saturday 28th January 10.30pm \n\n\n\nFriday 3rd February 11pm\, Saturday 4th February 10.30pm

SUMMARY:Adam Willis: Jospeh @ VAULT FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:An unpredictable debut from the chaotic mind of self-proclaimed loser Adam Willis (Willis & Vere). Adam’s hilarious retelling of the Nativity story puts a dimly-lit spotlight on the Bible’s third-best carpenter; Joseph of Nazareth. With a rubbish costume\, some bits of wood and less acting than you’d think\, Adam creates a wild\, laugh-out-loud show for his target audience; pathetic losers and meek cowards. \n\n\n\nA pessimistic and laughable one man show from a ‘downtrodden’\, ‘panicky’ and ‘hilarious’ Adam Willis. \n\n\n\nReviews for Previous Work:“Seriously Funny” ★★★★ (Steve Bennett\, Chortle)“Hugely Funny” ★★★★ (The Stage)“Funny” ★★★★ (The Scotsman)

SUMMARY:Somewhere To Belong - Gameshow about Biphobia
DESCRIPTION:Join our reluctant contestant CK on an adventure through The Gameshow is a funny and wonderfully unsubtle show about biphobia and the brilliance of loving more than one gender. \nCK\, an unwitting contestant on the strange and invasive Gameshow\, is forced to undertake humiliating tasks in a bid to win a grand prize. Will it be a yacht? An all-inclusive holiday to Lanzarote? The ragged remains of her pride? No-one knows. But with all eyes on her and only the voice of the game show host to guide her\, CK must navigate these bizarre tasks until time runs out and she can finally get a glimpse of what she’s been competing for. \nA clownish hour of chaos awaits in this silly simile for sexuality. From the makers of 5* production BLUE comes a show that wades through every awful and absurd perception of the bi+ community and finds new ways to celebrate the authentic voices of bi\, pan and queer people from around the world. So if you like Taskmaster and hate biphobia\, this is for you.
