SUMMARY:The Rhythm and Booze Project Boat Party (OPEN WHISKY BAR)
DESCRIPTION:The Rhythm and Booze Project is proud to host a night of blues\, whisky\, and mischief on Sir Francis Drake’s iconic ship*\, The Golden Hinde in London Bridge. \nThe evening will provide a raucous combination gig and whisky tasting\, featuring an OPEN WHISKY BAR with Felipe and Paul doing what they do best as a gritty duo\, both as musicians and whisky professionals. \nA selection of 10 world class whiskies (mostly single malts) will be available\, and you’ll get to enjoy as many of them as you want\, in whatever order you wish. Felipe and Paul will walk you through the selection\, teaching you about the whisky as well as laying down some blues music as the perfect soundtrack for the evening. \nThere are only limited spaces for this maritime* whisky-soaked event\, so book now! \nHere’s their official bio: \nThe Rhythm and Booze Project features Felipe and Paul\, a duo fusing live music and whisky through gigs\, tasting events\, and multimedia experiences. \nThe project was born during a 2012 pilgrimage to the whisky capital of Islay\, when Felipe and Paul played in bars and hotels in exchange for a meal\, a bed\, and healthy drams of whisky. \nRegular collaborations since then\, including tours in the UK\, United States\, and South America\, led to the creation of The Rhythm and Booze Project\, which combines Felipe’s and Paul’s extensive background as professional touring musicians\, event producers\, and passionate fans of whisky in all forms. \nAs a musical outfit\, the band incorporates roots\, folk\, and blues music in a uniquely gritty mix of its own\, blending hypnotic grooves with raucous energy and irresistible showmanship. \nFor their whisky tasting events\, Felipe and Paul merge performance\, live music\, and multi-sensory experiences. Past projects encompass blues and whisky tasting events for Islay’s Caol Ila distillery\, a tasting event series in Edinburgh that saw live music from local musicians actually alter the taste of whisky itself\, and intimate masterclasses with Lagavulin’s distillery manager. \nWith five professional degrees between them\, Felipe and Paul have an academic background to match. Felipe wrote his Masters degree thesis on sustainable distillation on Islay (conducting field interviews after Islay’s Feis Ile whisky festival)\, while Paul has just completed his PhD in the history of jazz drumming and the drum kit in New Orleans. \nFelipe is also a leading writer about all aspects of whisky for top industry publications including the websites distiller.com and scotchwhisky.com\, and also writes about whisky for Forbes.com. \nDISCLAIMER: We’ll turn away anyone (with no refund) who shows up drunk or not in a fit state to appreciate the music and whisky. You’ve been warned. \n*The official replica of it\, anyways. The original burned down. \n*The boat isn’t actually seaworthy\, or even in the water. It’s an amazing venue though.

SUMMARY:Timberlina and Dr Aspalls' Agitated Piano Cabaret
DESCRIPTION:After years spent communing with nature on a small rock on the East Sussex coast\, legendary glamorous bearded drag lady Timberlina and jazz piano rebel Dr Aspalls bring you their Agitated Piano Cabaret at The Golden Hinde. \nThis show is a hilariously profane\, joyously sardonic and entirely original musical adventure encapsulating the frustrations of what it means to be compassionate in an otherwise dispassionate world of rampant consumerism. \nFrom tongue in cheek blues to Sondheim-inspired melodies\, heartfelt lullabies and good old rock n roll\, this show will leach you feeling ecstatic\, euphoric and empathic just when you thought you were all alone. \nIt’s a teasing show that playfully teeters on the tip of awareness and bewildering rage through a series of uplifting songs spanning such topics as fatbergs\, ocean plastics\, smart phones\, milk\, packaging and of course\, Michael Gove! \nSo if you’re keen to save the world and prefer to do so over a glass of fizz or looking to wind down after a hard day of environmental direct action\, this show is for you! \nA joyous line up of totally original songs about over-consumption\, ultra-low emission zones and eco-anxiety amongst other topical titbits. From tongue in cheek cha-cha-cha\, borrowed Bach bridges and traditional twelve-bar-blues. \nTimberlina\, the world’s number one environmentally friendly drag lady\, cult bingo caller and homespun museum guide has been gracing stages round the world for over a decade. Meanwhile the illusive keyboard legend that is Dr Aspalls has haunted pubs\, bars and late-night jazz clubs across the South East for many years with his inimitable finger tinkling and capacity for capturing catchy cadences. \nExpect minimum patter and maximum music from this exceptional bearded duo so before we fall off the precipice of eco-armageddon why not come along to a riotous sing song on this legendary ship?

SUMMARY:Classical Enemy in Noise Waters
DESCRIPTION:While on board The Golden Hinde artists will collectively interbreed two species: noise music and classical music. \nHow can a classical instrument be noise? Find out by watching three different noise classical crossover projects within the heart of a ship drenched in history and mystery. \nFor those of you already familiar with noise we will add to your already well developed misconceptions\, and for those of you who are less familiar with noise we may surprise you with where the music travels. \nWith experimentation at the heart of the music\, the artists performs music as a gesture\, the essence of live performance. The ship itself is seeping with memory\, making it the noise-perfect host for this cross over to take place. \nArtists will bring together the cello\, violin\, flute and a choir in one evening. We will welcome sound waves resonating creatures of the sea\, wood spirits and nautical murder ballads on this very special evening on board The Golden Hinde. \nCurated by Lisa McKendrick. \n£7.50 online / £10 on the door \n  ->>>>> TICKETS <<<<<-

SUMMARY:O Gloriosa Domina – Renaissance Christmas Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Lovekyn Consort celebrates Christmas by exploring the rich harmonies of Renaissance Spain and its feasts\, in devotional and secular songs and joyful dance music. Period instruments are used to underlie the unique style of Spanish music resulting from its combination of Christian\, Muslim and Jewish cultures. \nThe feast of Christmas was marked in Renaissance Spain by large processions and long and elaborate pieces of choral music\, sometimes consisting of a single melodic line rather than the carols and hymns of later periods. \nThe performance will resemble a celebration at court\, with sacred songs to highlight the season as well as the more popular songs of love\, rivalry and mischief common throughout the year.

SUMMARY:Renaissance Music from England & Spain
DESCRIPTION:The Lovekyn Consort perform quintessentially English songs and tunes from the Elizabethan stage and tavern\, together with tales of battles\, love and loss from Imperial Spain. \nIn 1588\, the English fleet won a resounding victory against their longterm rival. Spain had established its empire at the beginning of the sixteenth century\, and England wanted to establish its own trading networks and military power at sea. England was an expanding power tilting at a much greater one\, and Spain had incorporated cultural influences from Jewish and Muslim cultures and was now absorbing elements of South American culture. \nThe Lovekyn Consort will perform music from the formative period of Spain’s expansion – from the end of the fifteenth century to the first third of the sixteenth\, together with songs and tunes from the burgeoning English stage and its developing civic culture – from the late sixteenth to the early seventeenth centuries. Spain had forcibly integrated its minorities before expanding abroad\, absorbing some aspects of their cultures into a national style\, whereas English music some times assumed a style borrowed from one of its neighbours. In the middle of these developing empires were the naval ‘Armada’ battles of the 1580s\, and we will mark these with ballads and tunes from both sides. \nThe Lovekyn Consort play instruments of the type originally used for their music. \nPatricia Hammond – Voice; William Summers – Flute\, Recorder; Stephen Carpenter – Lute\, Vihuela\, Guitar \nDoors open at 19:00\, music starts at 19:30.
