SUMMARY:God's Women\, Good Men and Monsters - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:God’s Women\, Good Men and Monsters – a collection of illustrations inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel\, ‘Dracula’.   ILLUSTRATING DRACULA \nThe illustrations by artist Kirsty Maclennan bring to life the thrilling tale of horror\, suspense\, and the battle between good and evil. Alongside this\, artist Christina Rauh Fishburne has created a series of calligraphy art in iconic letters and sketch artwork to capture the frantic and disturbing tale of the battle for the very soul of the world. These works have been captured and published in The Crow Emporium Press illustrated edition of Dracula by Bram Stoker. \nKirsty is a multidisciplinary artist who channels her creativity into various\, often intersecting\, mediums\, including painting\, illustration\, and writing. Aside from an A Level in Art\, Kirsty has received no formal training\, preferring to trust her own eye and instincts and avoiding the direct influence of others as much as possible. \nToday\, Kirsty lives and works in York\, where she continues creating and inspiring. Exhibited as part of Baltic Open Submission 2024\, her illustrations have also been published in collector’s editions of Brontë and Stoker classics. www.kirstymaclennan.com \nwww.thecrowemporium.com

SUMMARY:CRYPTIC - Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:‘CRYPTIC 42’\, a solo show by David Begbie\, is organised by Cris Contini Contemporary and curated by Pasquale Lettieri and Sandra Sanson at the Crypt Gallery in London.\nThe exhibition encapsulates 42 years of David Begbie’s creative journey\, covering the period from 1982 to 2024.\nThe show delves into various themes\, such as the duality of angel and demons present within every individual\, the profound influence of primitive tribal art\, and the intricate beauty of the human form. Begbie’s sculptures\, predominantly crafted from transparent metal mesh\, challenge the viewer’s perception of space and matter\, appearing as ethereal\, floating three-dimensional drawings that defy gravity.\nThe earliest piece\, ‘RELIC 1982\,’ offers a glimpse of a skeletal structure that symbolizes humanity’s origins\, drawing parallels between historical and evolutionary references. In contrast\, the latest sculpture\, ‘CRYPTIC 2024\,‘ reflects the often hidden yet powerful impact that tribal art has had on his work\, revealing the complexity of human nature through a combination of primitive masks and floating angelic figures.\nAt the core of the exhibition is the juxtaposition of opposites—light and shadow\, physicality and illusion\, abstraction and realism. Begbie’s use of metallic industrial materials\, which appear almost weightless\, invites viewers to question the boundaries between form and substance and the tension between real and perceived. This mastery of medium and theme has defined his 42-year career\, culminating in a body of work that transcends materiality and speaks directly to the viewer’s imagination and perception.\n\n\nDAVID BEGBIE: CRYPTIC 42  \n8-16 OCTOBER 2024 \n\n\n\nThe Crypt Gallery \nSt Pancras New Church 165\, Euston Rd London NW1 2BA \n(Entrance via Duke’s Road) \n\n\n\n  \nOpening Hours \nMon-Fri 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM \nSat 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
