SUMMARY:Radim Vizváry: Sólo
DESCRIPTION:Solo is an award-winning tour de force by Radim Vizváry\, acclaimed Czech mime\, director\, choreographer\, and Artistic Director of Laterna Magica Prague. Hailed internationally\, most recently at Expo Osaka\, this spellbinding performance takes audiences on a journey through the full spectrum of pantomime — from the elegance of classical mime to the raw intensity of butoh\, from razor-sharp physical comedy to the bold invention of contemporary mime theatre. Visually striking\, deeply human\, and at times laugh-out-loud funny\, Solo is both a masterclass in wordless storytelling and pantomime reborn — timeless\, daring\, and unforgettable. \nConcept\, director and starring: Radim Vizváry\, 90´\nThe performance includes partial nudity 12+ \n2016 Thálie Award in the category of Ballet\, Pantomime\, or Other Dance-Drama Genre for his performance in Sólo.\n\nABOUT RADIM VIZVÁRY\nRadim Vizvary is a prominent figure in European contemporary physical mime theatre. He is a mime artist\, author\, stage director\, choreographer\, and teacher. He teaches at the Music and Dance Faculty of Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts. He holds the role of Artistic Director for The Laterna Magika Ensemble\, The Mime Prague Company\, The International Mime Fest\, and the international street festival in Tabor. Vizváry received numerous accolades in the Czech Republic\, various European countries\, and the USA\, including the 2016 Thalia Prize. \nVizváry’s “Solo” has become a silent legend\, still receiving standing ovations after years of playing. It shouldn’t be\, since the performer takes constant care of it and continuously modifies the individual performances. “Solo” carries a cross-section of the genre from the days of Jean Gaspard Deburau’s “Pierot” romantic pantomime\, through Marcel Marceau’s modern mime\, clownery\, and contemporary physical theatre and conceptual art… And no other production has yet emerged that has a similar ambition\, to make pantomime non-violently accessible to audiences and to show its wide range. Opera Plus \nVizváry is undoubtedly the greatest personality of contemporary mime theatre\, encompassing both its present and its classical legacy. protisedi.cz \n\nBOOK NOW

SUMMARY:Inspired by Kafka: Insectum K. & Joseph Kilian
DESCRIPTION:Step into the surreal and unsettling world of Franz Kafka as we celebrate the centenary of his legacy with a night of cinematic masterpieces and a mesmerizing dance performance. Follow a young man’s mysterious search in Joseph Kilian (Pavel Juráček\, Jan Schmidt\, 1963)\, delve into Kafka’s fear of modern civilization in Double Trial (Zdeněk Kopáč\, 1962)\, and experience the claustrophobic terror of The Flat (Jan Švankmajer\, 1968)\, where a man is trapped in his own home. The evening concludes with a captivating dance by PULSAR & Jan Malík – one man\, one table\, one chair\, one light\, one sound – creating a haunting tribute to Kafka’s world by artists across generations and artforms. \nPULSAR / Jan Komárek & Honza Malík: Insectum K.  \nDirection and design: Jan Komárek\nCreation and performance\, production: Honza Malík\n38 min\nA dance for one man\, one table\, one chair\, one light and one sound.\nA half-naked body and its groping way across the table top\, illuminated by a single light bulb\, surrounded by an “unknown universe” that speaks to us with the urgency of a Francis Bacon painting about man’s fundamental position in the world: the fragility\, transience and unpredictability of his existence… \nNominated for the Best Interpretation Award 2008\, Special award for choreography 2007 \nSuported by: Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic \nJoseph Kilian and others  \nDouble Trial\nZdeněk Kopáč\, Czechoslovakia 1962\, 12 min\, subtitles\nDirector Zdeněk Kopáč takes us on a stroll through Prague\, exploring the life and work of Franz Kafka through quotes from “The Trial.” He interprets the novel as a powerful artistic expression of the fears of modern civilization\, foreshadowing the horrors of the Holocaust. \nJoseph Kilian\nPavel Juráček\, Jan Schmidt\, Czechoslovakia 1963\, 38‘\, subtitles\nCast: Karel Vašíček\, Consuela Morávková\nIn this Kafkaesque allegory\, a young man wanders the streets of Prague searching for the elusive Joseph Kilian and borrows a cat from a peculiar cat-loan shop for the weekend. This strange journey through bureaucratic absurdity vividly captures the mood of Kafka\, explicitly linking it to the aftermath of Stalinism. \nFlat\nJan Švankmajer\, Czechoslovakia 1968\, 13 min\, no commentary\nCast: Ivan Kraus\, Juraj Herz\nA surrealist horror short featuring a man trapped in a sinister flat where nothing obeys the laws of nature. Combining silent-era gags with Kafkaesque nightmare\, Jan Svankmajer masterfully blends live action and stop-motion animation\, set to Zdenek Liška’s evocative music.

SUMMARY:Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood) - Children's Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood) – Children’s Events at the Coronet Theatre\nAcclaimed French writer-director Joël Pommerat brings his celebrated production of Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood) to London for the first time. \nThis version of the classic fairytale is spell-binding theatre that engulfs the viewer\, never shying away from the tale’s gritty\, dark corners while simultaneously charming us with its magic. \nPommerat’s extensive repertoire features several works for children\, including adaptations of fairy tales with a mature twist\, such as Pinocchio and Cendrillon (Cinderella). His first foray into the genre was with Le Petit Chaperon Rouge in 2004\, a production he created to help his daughter understand his work. \nIn Pommerat’s fresh and visually enchanting take on the familiar story\, Little Red Riding Hood is forced to face the Big Bad Wolf all on her own after her mother neglects her. This is a fairy tale for the real world\, with vivid themes of desire\, fear\, loneliness and freedom bubbling below the surface.
