DESCRIPTION:At the edge of ecological collapse\, Huella unfolds around an ambiguous waterfall carrying the memory of water\, as new geologies emerge. Through eco-poetic symbolism\, a danced installation-performance of textural and flamenco soundscapes traverses dissonant yet porous\, solastalgic bodies and landscapes\, entangled in the waterfall’s trace.\nOpening onto an uncertain time between an altered present and a future archive\, the waterfall holds play\, intimacies\, rituals\, human and animal passages\, alongside contaminated sediments and materials that persist. \nHuella emerges from the lived tension of perceiving the living world’s alteration while continuing to inhabit everyday life. It resonates with solastalgia: the feeling that arises as a familiar environment transforms while we are still living within it.\nThe narrative is embodied through a movement language inspired by contemporary improvisation and the geometries of Vogue and flamenco aesthetics.\nFragments from Lorca’s Suites and Libro de poemas also appear as poetic undercurrents. \nIsadora is a French-Tunisian artist working across movement\, performance and installation\, born in Paris and based in London. As a Vogue performer and member of the Iconic House of Milan (as Isadora Milan)\, she walks balls internationally. She develops an experimental movement language inspired by New Way Vogue\, Arms Control\, contemporary improvisation and flamenco. Her hybrid practice seeks to unsettle dominant perceptions of feminine representation and embodiment\, while increasingly engaging with ecological transformation and with human and more-than-human experiences. The Radical Wedding Engine is a playful experiment in marriage\, chosen family and artistic partnership. Five East Asian migrant artists who have worked together for years take the wedding apart and put it back together again — testing vows\, rituals\, traditions and expectations along the way. What happens when an artistic partnership starts to look like a marriage? Can a wedding celebrate friendship\, collaboration and chosen family? And what might commitment look like beyond the couple? Moving between sincerity and absurdity\, intimacy and spectacle\, they explore different ways of caring\, committing and belonging\, while attempting to build a ceremony of their own. Developed through The Yard Theatre’s Live Drafts programme and a Making Space residency at Battersea Arts Centre.

SUMMARY:Three Little Pigs | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Every day\, thousands of migrant construction workers raise homes\, offices\, theatres and hospitals\, spaces where other lives unfold. They build stability\, safety and permanence\, often while living in temporary rooms\, on unstable contracts\, with families far away and futures on hold. ‘Three Little Pigs’ is a new theatre performance informed by conversations with construction workers across the UK. Developed following conversations with migrant construction workers\, the play begins with three construction workers on a building site. The piece sits somewhere between comedy and drama\, much like life on site itself. There is constant humour in the routines\, in the banter\, in the absurd situations that arise day to day. Jokes become a way of coping\, of bonding\, of getting through long hours and difficult conditions. At the same time\, those moments sit alongside the pressure\, the risk and the things that are harder to say out loud. The story is also rooted in real experience. Director Sava Cebotari came to the UK after being forced to leave Russia following the war in Ukraine and worked in construction to support his family while trying to find his way back into theatre. The people he met there helped open the door to the wider research process behind the piece. Built from conversation\, research and lived experience\, Three Little Pigs offers a glimpse into the lives behind the labour. \nThe play is ENTIRELY FICTIONAL. We don’t want to talk to ourselves. Poetry\, if it’s to survive and develop as an art form\, has to be about communication. If we are only talking to ourselves\, then we’ve failed. Poetry began as an oral form – the Vedas\, the Epic of Gilgamesh\, the Odyssey. We don’t claim the same brilliance\, but we do want to document our history and challenge the narratives of our times. \nWe have entered an era when the progressive values we fought for are being bulldozed into reverse. In days like these\, creative work can seem futile and irrelevant. Re-Enchant is a commitment to the idea that words can change things. Poetry is a place where we have the chance to play with concepts\, explore new forms of thinking and discuss other ways of living. Poetry is a commitment to experimentation. We want to hear from new voices – we want to hear from the voices that are always shut out from the arts. We want to dethrone the laureates. Come and join us. Mira Awad and the Jerusalem Youth Chorus Alumni \nThursday 19 November 8:00pm\nThe Cockpit \nMakam Salam are proud to be featured at the EFG London Jazz Festival\, featuring two incredible special guests: Mira Awad and the Jerusalem Youth Chorus Alumni Collective\, bringing young Palestinian and Jewish Israeli singers from Jerusalem together on their special international tour. Get ready for a night of songs\, stories\, and interactive music making\, with real dialogue between the stage and the audience\, all illuminated by immersive visual art from VJ Joe Walton. \nMakam Salam is a London-based collective of Pan-Middle-Eastern diaspora musicians. The band brings together Palestinian\, Israeli\, Iranian\, Lebanese\, Turkish\, Kurdish\, Tunisian\, Moroccan\, British\, and Jewish Diaspora musicians\, building bridges across cultures and playing for peace and collective liberation. Arabic\, Hebrew\, Turkish and Kurdish songs sit next to each other\, carried on oud\, clarinet\, violin\, keys\, drums and percussion. \nThis special night features Mira Awad\, a Palestinian-Israeli singer\, songwriter and actor\, born in the Galilee village of Rameh. In 2009 she represented Israel at Eurovision alongside Achinoam Nini. It was the first Israeli entry with Arabic lyrics\, and the first sung by an artist of Arab origin. Awad has performed with Bobby McFerrin\, Andrea Bocelli and Quincy Jones\, and appeared at Sanremo in 2025. \nFor the first time\, Makam Salam will be joining forces with the Jerusalem Youth Chorus Alumni Collective\, a shared choir of Palestinian and Jewish Israeli singers from Jerusalem. Their alumni collective\, called “A Different Way\,” will be part of the show. Together\, Makam Salam and A Different Way bring the audience into the music itself. Expect interactive song making\, live participation\, and real dialogue through music. \nSince forming in 2024\, Makam Salam have sold out Stone Nest\, PizzaExpress Jazz Club\, Next Door Records and The Cockpit. They have also played Shambala and Soul Revolution festivals this year. DESCRIPTION:Join the multi award-winning UK jazz ensemble Empirical for a performance of their second release on Whirlwind Recordings\, their forebodingly titled eighth album Like Lambs: To The Slaughter. \nEmpirical\, Nathaniel Facey (alto sax)\, Tom Farmer (double bass) and Shaney Forbes (drums)\, have enlisted long-time collaborators Ivo Neame (piano) and David Preston (guitar) to lend their distinctive musical voices to the album. \nA radical reworking of drummer Shaney Forbes’ unconventional long-form suite\, first issued as a self-released EP\, the album unfolds as an uninterrupted 51-minute musical story. Originally conceived during the pandemic\, Like Lambs: To The Slaughter explores ever-more relevant questions around the human capacity for independent thought versus herd-like behaviour\, and the line between innocence and ignorance. \nTraversing the musical terrain between contemporary classical music\, soundscape\, post-bop and free jazz\, the music often reflects our frantic\, split-attention world where individualism reigns supreme\, but also represents a refusal to relinquish faith in the possibility of spiritual and intellectual enlightenment. Having started their journey in 2007\, Empirical continue to be at the centre of the UK jazz scene owing to their trademark combination of complex\, thoughtful writing and spontaneous improvisation reflecting years of collective music-making.

DESCRIPTION:Elliot Pritchard stars as The Woman in the immortal classic of love lost over the telephone. \nThe telephone rings. During the call The Woman gradually loses her battle to retain her lover. On one end of the phone\, there is the person who cannot be false to their nature. They are being abandoned by the unseen lover on the other end of the phone who cannot face up to their nature at all. \nIn a new physical theatre adaptation\, The Human Voice leads us down the steep descent into emotional defeat and loneliness\, the destiny of many who feel outside of society\, a universal feeling that we all\, intermittently\, share. \nFeaturing outstanding new theatre artist Elliot Pritchard as The Woman in his first solo show\, the production by Andrew Visnevski returns this world-famous piece to the queer world which inspired it originally almost 100 years ago. A scintillating legend of French cultural life and a personal friend of Marcel Proust\, Pablo Picasso\, Max Jacob\, Igor Stravinsky\, Man Ray and Lee Miller among others\, Jean Cocteau was openly self-declared homosexual and his work as revolutionary film-maker\, critic\, writer\, highly individual illustrator and painter attested to it. Cocteau’s use of metaphors\, mirrors and masks expresses the covert longings and the semi-fantasy of existence when an individual is ‘out-of-norm’ in society. \nShow times:\nTues-Sat: 7:30pm – 8:40pm\nSat: 3:30pm – 4:40pm

DESCRIPTION:Ankora @ankoramusic [EMERGENCE}Ankora is a London based\, eight-piece ensemble composed of Kezia Abuoma\, Tami Adebanjo\, Keira Chakraborty\, Hannah Clifton\, Klara Devlin\, Aleks Dimitrova\, Miranda Radford and Mali Sheard. Meeting at the hailed music organisation ‘Tomorrow’s Warriors’\, these ambitious young musicians were previously selected to perform as the band ‘Tomorrow’s Warriors Frontline’\, under the tutelage of acclaimed drummer and composer\, Romarna Campbell. Ankora is the exciting new step the ensemble are taking to launch into the London jazz scene. The name ‘Ankora’ is derived from the Latin word for ‘anchor’ (anchora): a symbol of groundedness\, hope and a connection to roots. These connotations are expressed through their repertoire of both originals and covers of powerful jazz tunes. The name links to an alternative meaning in Italian\, ‘again’\, marking the momentum of their rebirth as they continue their musical and artistic journey. \n\nThe band’s influences include the legacies of Freddie Hubbard\, Herbie Hancock\, Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter\, while branching out to the more contemporary mastery of Esperanza Spalding\, Geri Allen\, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts and Kenny Kirkland. The ensemble takes inspiration from the spark and power of these jazz legends\, compositionally and in their playing. Ankora have already made their mark on the jazz scene through performances at venues such as Love Supreme Jazz Festival\, We Out Here\, Cheltenham Jazz Festival\, The Vortex\, The Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room\, Brick Lane Jazz Festival\, Manchester Jazz Festival and The Jazz Café. Ready for more\, the unique\, powerful voice of the ensemble is excited to embrace the wonder and diversity of today’s jazz scene.\n\nNiklas Lukassen @niklas_lukassen (Solo)\nNiklas Lukassen displays an equally astonishing lyrical sensibility and skilful command on the upright bass\, the bass guitar and his unique bass cello. Having lived in New York for several years\, he today resides between London and Berlin. Described as “a versatile bass virtuoso” by Jazzwise magazine\, Niklas continues to establish himself as a significant presence within the young European jazz scene. Moreover\, his sound and artistic vision radiate a striking band leader potential. Niklas ventured from an inconspicuous village somewhere in the South German Black Forest out into a life of creative opportunity through his personal musical journey. Aged 16\, he moved to Berlin to cut his teeth in the capital’s music scene and attended the Jazz Institute. A formative part of his career lies in New York. Mentored by Ron Carter\, he received his Masters Degree from Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship.  Currently Pursuing a doctoral degree and teaching at the Royal Academy of Music in London\, he researches ways of Broadening his scope of sounds on a range of String bass instruments.\n\nImmersed in contrasting musical worlds\, Niklas has accompanied performances with artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel\, Joe Lovano\, Jorge Rossy\, Norma Winstone\, Jo Lawry\, Will Vinson & The New York Voices. Among the records he played on is the Grammy Award Nominated album Some days are better by the Kenny Wheeler Legacy Project. Niklas expands beyond his position as a bass player and composer through his singing voice. Notably\, he sang in the German National Jazz Orchestra. Niklas international quartet with saxophonist Ben van Gelder\, pianist Kit Downes and drummer Francesco Ciniglio\, fuses captivating individualists of the jazz scenes of Amsterdam\, London\, Paris and Berlin into one symbiotic musical organism. Enriched by musical contributions from guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel\, saxophonist Wanja Slavin\, vocalist Céline Rudolph & trombonist Geoffroy De Masure\, they explore unimagined depths on his Heartcore Records release Still Waters. He is also the creative mind behind the group ECHO\, which paints sonic landscapes in a poignant instrumentation. In this format\, Niklas embraces his penchant for lyric and songwriting\, while staying true to his nature as an improviser.  Furthermore\, alongside pianist Gwilym Simcock and drummer James Maddren\, he ventures on untrodden musical paths in his trio with himself on a unique and novel instrument: the bass cello. Niklas has toured extensively throughout Europe\, the UK\, North America\, Asia and North Africa. Notable stages he performed on include the Lincoln Center\, the Beacon Theatre\, the John F. Kennedy Center and the Berlin Philharmonie.
