SUMMARY:Easter Uprising: Urvashi
DESCRIPTION:Urvashi is an independent London-based collective\, formed in January 2023. Inspired by the band’s shared love for traditional and modern music\, they draw equally from Indian Qawwali\, Arabic Tarab\, modal jazz and hard rock. \nTheir tracks layer both original melodies and fresh interpretations of traditional songs\, over grooves reimagined from different musical backgrounds\, combined with extensive improvisation. \nIn recent months\, Urvashi has been undertaking significant artistic development\, investigating how their love of modal jazz and devotional music traditions can engage with UK rave culture\, specifically drum and bass and techno. Drawing inspiration from artists who bridge electronic and jazz traditions\, the collective is developing an entirely new performance practice that translates electronic dance music into improvisation-led formats.

SUMMARY:Mirrors - When Silence Breaks\, Hope Rises
DESCRIPTION:MIRRORS by Ada Tsesmeli Edwards. Twice awarded by the Cultural Centre of Northern Greece for Playwright & Direction. About the performance: There comes a moment in life when each of us must look into the mirror and face our own reflection. But how ready are we to truly confront what we see? \nAnd what happens when the shadows of others blur the image before us? Mirrors is a deeply human and profoundly timely play about the truth of existence – a lyrical yet powerful exploration of the essence of life. \nThree women\, in three different cities: in New York\, Linda Anderson\, a bank employee; in Thessaloniki\, Corinna Papadaki\, an office worker; and in Rome\, Malena Conti\, a lyrical mezzo-soprano. \nEach stands before the dead end of an unfulfilled and empty life. Time\, memory\, and the fragile balances of their personalities reveal that those who once defined them are now nothing more than shadows in the mirror of their souls. \nThrough a painful yet liberating journey\, the three heroines reach a place of redemption. They find the strength to shed everything that distorts their reflection. Mirrors illuminate – with both grace and intensity – the fragments of memory we consciously or unconsciously push toward oblivion. For the closer one dares to approach their own mirror\, the more dangerous and courageous the journey becomes.

SUMMARY:The Dirt - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:The Dirt by Marianne Tuckman \nCombining voice\, movement and text\, this pulsing tragicomedy reduces the climate crisis to the metaphor of a filthy house. When home has become contaminated\, how do we dream about the future? \nIn exactly the moment that it was predicted\, the climate emergency has arrived.   Everything has changed. The last woman on earth is beside herself. She used to live in a nice house in a nice area and never thought climate change would actually\, you know\, affect someone like her.  But here we are. The Dirt has arrived at her door and is seeping into her house. Terrified\, she calls her cleaner\, a punk who has since been evicted\, to come round and help\, but despite all their efforts\, the house just gets dirtier and dirtier.\nTomorrow\, she had planned to have children and play with them. She wonders if this will be possible. \nIn this 50-minute solo performance\, linguistic boundary pusher Marianne Tuckman asks: ‘If outside forces such as the climate crisis invade and contaminate home\, how does our vision of the future mutate? And\, a burning question facing my generation: is having children still an option?’ \nCreative Team \nArtistic Direction\, performance and script: Marianne Tuckman\nCreative Production: João Maio and Belisa Branças\nSound Design: Marcelo Schmittner Daza\nLighting Design: Nicolas San Martin\nCostume input: Barte Liagaite\nRehearsal direction: Marco Gonzales\nArtistic Mentoring: Cristina MacKerron and Rod Dixon\nSupported using public funding through Arts Council England

SUMMARY:The Highgate Vampire - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A riotous new dark comedy. London\, 1970. A Vampire lurks in Highgate Cemetery… \nMore of this is true than we would like. \nLondon\, 1970. \nSomething horrifying stalks the streets of London. A creature with blazing red eyes\, sucking the life out of all who cross its path\, leaving only terror in its wake. \nA demon-hunting Priest and his sworn enemy\, a man who’s a tobacconist by day and a vanquisher of the undead by night\, both set out to destroy the creature forever. An uneasy alliance. London’s own vampire. Both are heading to the dark heart of Highgate. \nAnd now\, if you’re sitting comfortably\, they will tell you how it happened…. \n“This tale is undoubtedly true. And WE have come to tell it….” \nBased on real events\, the critically acclaimed Bag of Beard Theatre brings you the unheard and undead tale of ‘The Highgate Vampire’. A new dark comedy that asks you to imagine\, among other things\, what if The Mighty Boosh had performed the Woman in Black? \nA horrifying new play\, an ink-dark comedy and very possibly the most shocking true story you haven’t heard. Yet. \nIt is time for the lecture to begin. Always Beware the Highgate Vampire…. \nPart Of The Stephen Joseph Transfer – Bringing in-the-round shows from The Glitch to The Cockpit \nSupported by The Stephen Joseph Committee\, part of the ATTB (The Association of British Theatre Technicians)

DESCRIPTION:Two young artists — actors\, writers\, directors. They are everything at once.\nThey have almost grown up together; they are bonded\, dependent\, inseparable. \nThey are life partners and creative partners. What is real and what is fiction becomes blurred. \nOne of them creates from within the home\, unable to step outside;\nthe other chases everything with relentless hunger for art.\nA beautiful marriage\, beautiful opportunities… everything looks beautiful. \nBut they are fighting — against life\, against each other\, and mostly against themselves.\nA shared life\, a shared project… everything is shared.\nYet something is missing.\nHow do they reach “better”?\nTogether — or apart? \nBecause\, as the saying goes:\nIf you want something to become better\, kill your darling(s). \nOr perhaps…\nBegin with the one you love.\nKill your darling(s).\nSpend it. Exhaust it.\nLet go of the thing you love most.\nBegin with the one you love.

SUMMARY:Cinderella - The Elders Panto
DESCRIPTION:Oh yes it is — the Church Street Elders are back!\nOh no it isn’t — the same old Cinderella you know! \nOriginally written by Janet Locke\, an 89-year-old member of the Church Street Elders Drama Group\, this brand-new version of Cinderella has been joyfully reimagined through improvisation and play. Part of it is scripted\, part of it is improvised — and anything can still happen! \nExpect laughter\, surprises\, and a few unexpected twists as our community cast of grannies and grandads bring their own spark to this classic British tradition. There’s an old-lady Fairy Godmother trying to remember her spells\, three delightfully outrageous Ugly Sisters\, and a King and Prince with plenty of charm (and a bit too much swagger!). \nThis heartwarming panto celebrates community\, creativity\, and the magic of theatre at any age. So come along\, bring the family\, and cheer\, boo\, and laugh with us — it’s all part of the fun!
