DESCRIPTION:What drives a man to the ends of the Earth?\nAnd why would so many choose to follow him? \nSpontaneous Productions proudly presents its original play about the life of Sir Ernest Shackleton—Antarctic explorer\, Edwardian society leader\, and arguably Sydenham’s most famous former resident. \nSet in the stunning St Bart’s Church\, next door to the Shackleton family home on Westwood Hill\, this innovative production tells Shackleton’s incredible story from multiple perspectives. \nFrom the harrowing adventure of the Endurance expedition (1914–1916) and the daring rescue of his crew from Elephant Island\, to the astonishing voyage across treacherous seas to South Georgia in a rowing boat; from his troubled marriage to his relentless efforts to fund his expeditions—no aspect of Shackleton’s extraordinary life will remain untold. \nWritten by creative director Jonathan Kaufman and script consultant Jane Walker\, with additional scenes crafted by members of ScriptHub workshops\, the play is laced with humour\, action\, and brought to life by regular Spontaneous performers. When inseparable brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm return to their family home to discover their favourite library is threatened with closure\, they set off a journey to collect folk stories and save it! Join them on this once in a lifetime adventure with some of your favourite fairy tales! \nStaged in the wonderful St Barts Church\, where last year’s Beauty & The Beast was such a big hit\, this is a spectacular show for all ages and not to be missed. Featuring Spontaneous regulars Hjalmar Nordén and Wictor Koch as the Brothers Grimm\, and returning for her fourth Spontaneous Christmas show Shireenah Ingram (‘Cinderella’\, ‘The Snow Queen’) as their mother Frau Grimm. Rounding up the cast is Chioma Nwalioba – most recently seen as Peter Rabbit and Rapunzel – as the delightful Henrietta. DESCRIPTION:After its hugely popular Christmas shows in 2017 (The Snowman and the Christmas Fairy)\, 2018 (Cinderella) and The Snow Queen (2019)\, Sydenham’s acclaimed professional theatre company is back this year with its biggest and most magical show yet! \nAn original story inspired by the traditional fairy tale\, The Beauty and the Beast will whisk you to Milan\, where flamboyant fashion designer Vanità is planning to unveil his Winter collection. But when a terrible curse transforms him into a hideous beast\, it’s up to aspiring fashion designer Rosa and supermodel Bella to try to save the day…! \nFeaturing excellent original songs by Paul Tornbohm\, fantastic costumes by Jackie Poulett\, great dance routines by Michelle Buckley\, expect\, comedy\, magic\, and lots of surprising twists! \nThe cast includes several Spontaneous regulars: Jim and Allotey (The Snow Queen\, Puss in Boots\, Around the World in 80 Days\, Sinbad the Sailor)\, an aspiring designer Rosa\, William Hastings (Cinderella\, The Snow Queen\, The Gingerbread Man\, Around the World in 80 Days)\, as put-upon assistant Sebastiano\, Shireenah Ingram (title roles in Cinderella & The Snow Queen)\, as supermodel Bella Donna.
