SUMMARY:Carey Tan Original Symphonic Works Concert
DESCRIPTION:Winner of both King’s and Music Scholarships at Eton College\, Carey Tan brings his original symphonic music with London City Philharmonic Orchestra. \n12 international composition awards\, Epic symphonic music exploring nature\, war\, AI and the future of humanity. \nRoyal College of Music · Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall\n21 June 2026 · 14:00 \nA CONCERT ABOUT OUR TIME \nOn 21 June 2026\, a concert devoted entirely to the original symphonic works of Carey Tan will take place at the Royal College of Music — an afternoon that asks\, with urgency and imagination\, what the modern world sounds like when transformed into music. \nThis is far more than a showcase of precocious talent. It is a full-length symphonic portrait by a 12-year-old composer whose music engages directly with some of the defining questions of our age: nature\, war\, artificial intelligence\, and the future of humanity. \nPerformed by the London City Philharmonic Orchestra\, with Carey himself on stage throughout — as pianist\, marimbaist\, and the artistic voice behind every note. \nABOUT THE COMPOSER \nCarey Tan is a 12-year-old composer and multi-instrumentalist\, and a recipient of both the King’s Scholarship and Music Scholarship at Eton College. He has long focused on the creation of large-scale orchestral works\, distinguished by expansive structures\, clear narrative direction\, and profound intellectual depth. His music transforms philosophical reflection\, scientific imagination\, and a concern for contemporary realities into a symphonic language of striking modern expressiveness. With a creative vision of remarkable maturity and individuality\, he is increasingly attracting attention within the international classical music world. \nABOUT THE ORCHESTRA \nThe London City Philharmonic Orchestra presents symphonic and operatic repertoire in major UK and international venues. The orchestra is committed to supporting contemporary music and new large-scale works\, regularly collaborating with emerging composers and soloists. \nOlsi Qinami is Principal Conductor and Music Director of the London City Philharmonic Orchestra\, Conductor with the National Radio Television Orchestra of Albania\, and Professor of Conducting at the University of Arts in Tirana. He conducts widely across Europe and maintains a strong commitment to contemporary orchestral repertoire. \nTickets:  https://careytan.eventbrite.co.uk

SUMMARY:MTO Zendeh Delan® Presents “The Conference of the Birds”
DESCRIPTION:An Immersive Evening of Sufi Music\, Poetry\, and Sama’ at the Royal College of Music\, London\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline Tickets at the Royal College of Music\nhttps://www.rcm.ac.uk/events/chooseseats/?WebInstanceId=conferenceofthebirds \n\n\n\n\nThe Programme\nThrough a captivating fusion of traditional Sufi melodies\, contemporary instrumentation\, and timeless verse\, The Conference of the Birds will bring to life Attar’s story\, the Conference of the Birds. Attar’s work tells the story of the world’s birds who gather in search of their sovereign\, the Simorgh. Their journey unfolds as a metaphor for the human soul’s quest for knowledge\, unity\, and ultimately annihilation in the divine. \nUsing a harmonious presentation of music\, verse\, and celestial motions of Sama’\, MTO Zendeh Delan invites participants to witness this allegory in living form. This will be presented in a new manner that has never been exhibited by the ensemble previously. \n\n\n\n\nAudiences will be immersed in: \n\nMusic: A rich tapestry of Persian compositions woven with Western classical and modern rhythms.\nPoetry: Eloquent recitations of Attar’s timeless allegory\, exploring themes of bewilderment\, truth\, and unity.\nSama’: A deeply moving presentation of the sacred practice\, symbolising spiritual ascent and the soul’s union with the divine.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCultural Resonance and Universal Appeal \nAs with all MTO Zendeh Delan presentations\, this concert transcends language and culture. The ensemble’s artistry connects directly with the heart\, evoking a sense of spiritual connection and leaving a lasting impression on the audience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Ensemble \nMTO Zendeh Delan\, meaning “awakened hearts\,” is the music and Sama’ ensemble of the students of MTO Shahmaghsoudi\, School of Islamic Sufism®. Since their debut at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2014\, the ensemble has presented internationally in prestigious venues across Europe\, North America\, and Asia seamlessly blending Sufi traditions with contemporary artistic expression. The group also participates in artistic\, cultural\, and interfaith events. MTO Zendeh Delas also shares their creativity at charity events in order to give back to the community. Each presentation reflects the essence of Sufism: the remembrance of the divine through love\, poetry\, and music.

SUMMARY:ICCM presents: Leaning East - Music of Eastern Europe
DESCRIPTION:The International Centre for Contemporary Music (ICCM) presents the inaugural concert of their Spring mini-series highlighting the work of contemporary Eastern-European composers. \nPerformed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra\, two dramatic works are the bookends for the UK premiere of Thierry Escaich’s futuristic organ concerto. What ties these works together is their dramatic language and their unique\, unmistakable ethnic flavours – a must-hear repertoire\, most of which is being heard for the first time in London.
