SUMMARY:QUEER HORROR NIGHTS present: LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
DESCRIPTION:Strictly ADULTS 18+ only! \n\n\n\nQueer Horror Nights returns for a thrilling Halloween Monsters Ball hosted by Loose Willis and Token Homo with interval gore show from Co Kendrah. ‘Bring your freak’ with a costume\, kink and fetish-friendly dress code. A very late bar will keep you monsters moist. \n\n\n\nDirected by Frank Oz with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by LGBTQ+ legend Howard Ashman\, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is a queer cult classic. \n\n\n\nThe film about a hapless florist and his flesh-eating plant features an iconic cast\, monumental songs\, several hardcore kinks\, and boundary-pushing special effects. Deemed too transgressive at test screenings\, the finale was dramatically changed before its 1986 cinema release to create a ‘happy’ heteronormative ending. \n\n\n\nQueer Horror Nights is proud to present the 2012 Director’s Cut which reinstates the film’s original\, outrageous climax: a plant-based apocalypse with an additional 10 minutes of show-stopping footage. If movie monsters are the queer disrupters of heteronormativity\, then the Director’s Cut of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is a radical re-edit where queer monstrosity wins (and Audrey is the ultimate ally). \n\n\n\nHALLOWEEN MONSTERS BALL: Experience LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS with drag king Loose Willis (SLAY STATION\, FIST CLUB)\, film fanatic Token Homo (BAR TRASH)\, and sublime drag creature Co Kendrah (TORTURE GARDEN\, RECON CABARET). \n\n\n\nDRESS CODE: This is a costume\, kink and fetish-friendly event\, so come dressed for Halloween\, or gear-up to watch the film in your kink and fetish attire (just cover your bum & bits!). Regular clothes are fine too… Changing facilities available from 10pm. \n\n\n\n• 10PM: Drinks\, Halloween fun\, ‘Photo-My-Freak’ booth\, & changing rooms• 11:30PM: Pre-show + ‘Carnival of The Creatures’ (with prizes for best look!)• MIDNIGHT: Film + Interval gore show• 2AM: Close \n\n\n\nQueer Horror Nights creates horror cinema events across London. SUMMARY:Pan Talks: Film Night
DESCRIPTION:Join Pan Talks: Film Night for a chance to watch short films personally selected from the Guardian Documentaries archive by Guardian Documentaries’ Charlie Phillips and Lindsay Poulton. John Martin will join Pan Intercultural Arts’ Artistic Director in a Q&A section hosted by the BBC News presenter and Pan’s patron Reeta Chakrabarti and featuring some filmmakers. \nThe screening will be on Thursday 21st October at the Rio Cinema\, Dalston\, from 6 pm. \n“Our documentaries deal with some of the big social issues of the day\, and we’re excited to show them to an audience interested in how documentary can contribute to major social change” – Charlie Phillips\, Head of Video at The Guardian. \nPan Talks: Film Night will support Pan Intercultural Arts\, an organisation dedicated to exploring cultural diversity through the arts and how much work can inspire and implement social change. Pan provides creative projects\, including drama\, music\, and filmmaking workshops\, to asylum-seekers\, young refugees\, female survivors of trafficking and young people excluded from mainstream education. \nThe short films will throw light onto issues similar to those faced by Pan’s participants. The following conversation will be an exciting opportunity for the audience to connect with their inspirational stories and creative work and hear from the people who originated Pan’s projects. \n‘Bringing together Pan’s work with individuals who have experienced some of the most harmful inequalities of contemporary life\, with the Guardian’s films which brilliantly show the realities of very similar individuals\, is a chance for all of us to be thankful that the arts are alive and functioning in this difficult world’ John Martin – Artistic Director at Pan Intercultural Arts \nTickets are £15 (£12 concession).
