SUMMARY:EUNIC AI Science Café Series: Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
DESCRIPTION:EUNIC London\, the Czech Centre London and the Austrian Cultural Forum present the new EUNIC AI Science Café Series aiming to present current and timely topics alongside the proposals for innovative\, bold and inspirational solutions to tackle key issues. The contributors are experts from the EUNIC member states\, many of whom represent international teams and their counterparts from the United Kingdom. \nThe first talk invites you to learn more about the ethical impact of the use of artificial intelligence with philosophers & AI experts Janina Loh\, Charlotte Stix and Dita Malečková. The virtual event will be chaired by Erin Young from The Alan Turing Institute. \nOur world increasingly relies on complex automated systems\, algorithmic calculations and data. We are surrounded by smart technologies and robots. AI is part of our everyday lives and shapes crucial processes in our society. It recommends us to watch a new television series\, provides us with driving instructions\, vacuum cleans our floors or decides what grades we get. \nBut how biased is AI? How can scientist ensure that AI doesn’t disadvantage or negatively impact certain communities or minorities? What legal and ethical framework is necessary to guarantee that the values implemented in robotic systems benefit everyone? And what are the opportunities? \nThis discussion will look at the ethical dimensions that arise with artificial intelligence and aim to give an insight into current discussions of equity and justice in AI. \nRegister at https://www.acflondon.org/events/eunic-science-caf%C3%A9-ethics-of-artificial-intelligence/ until 4pm to join the Zoom talk. You will receive a link & password via email on the day of the event. \nEUNIC AI Science Cafe Series 2021: \nArtificial Intelligence is the new phenomenon of the 21st century and has evolved out of the realm of science fiction and at best\, a few technologically advanced minds and IT professionals\, to everyday topics of discussion and one of the key drivers of the future progress of humankind. \nThe objective of the AI Science Café series\, which will consist of presentations and debates by high profile\, world acclaimed European and UK experts\, is to introduce\, present and publicly discuss various topics that impact our professional as well as our personal lives. As AI topics clearly generate more questions than answers\, the series will strive to unveil trends and expectations from the inevitable social and technological changes which the future will bring.

SUMMARY:Startup Budget\, Valuation and Dilution
DESCRIPTION:A panel discussion to be held where experienced veterans in the Finance\, Tech\, and Startup industries. \nFind out why you need to get a solid business plan and a proper valuation before going for your funding quest. \nMany ideas are great and can attract attention\, however\, investors like business angels or venture capitalists look also at the team\, its members\, and the way you present yourself and the idea. \nThey also need to understand in a nutshell the plan and the prospect of a return on investments as well as what are you going to do with their cash. \nThe research for funding is becoming a jungle where other “startupers” who do not even compete on the same market compete for the same money. \nIt is also a time where you will have to give away part of your company and it is always wise to raise at lower dilution as you know that you will have to do it again one or two times. \nThe startup adventure is a journey and your need your investors to embark on it and help you to create a path of success. \nEBITA ratio and DCF valuation are not the only ones and it is important to know some more ways to evaluate your startup. \nBenefits for attendees: \nAttendees will learn about the thinking within the investor’s mind and what can trigger a yes or a no. They will also have some examples of real-life investments in startups. \nWe will list the different steps that could help to prepare a plan that will allow founders to document their journey to come \nAbout the speaker: \nHervé earned an Executive MBA from HEC Paris\, ranked in the top 20 worldwide business schools. He also holds different degrees and certificates. \nHervé specialises in critical thinking which allows him to make customized decisions in your own context and not only by applying the books. It could also be called\, pragmatism… \nAt an executive level at Apple Europe\, Middle East\, India & Africa\, he has spent 12 years focusing on education and technologies towards better delivery of teaching & learning. \nFor the last 9 years\, based in the Middle East\, Hervé has worked on subjects like infrastructure\, digital transformation\, business model optimization\, having in mind efficiency as a keyword. He has co-founded 4 companies on which 3 have been successfully sold. \nEvent promoted by Ercess Live

SUMMARY:AI: When a Robot Writes a Play
DESCRIPTION:The Czech Centre London has partnered with Prague’s Švanda Theatre and theaitre.com to present to the UK public an innovate project entitled ‘AI: When a Robot Writes a Play’ created by a team of computer scientists and drama experts led by a computational linguist. \n\n\n\nThe play\, telling a story of joy and sorrow of everyday life from a robot’s point of view\, is composed of dialogues generated by artificial intelligence to celebrate 100th anniversary of the premiere of Czech playwright Karel Čapek’s play R.U.R. in which the word ‘robot’ was first used. The 60-minute play will be performed in Czech with English subtitles and followed by a debate with artificial intelligence and theatre experts which will seek to answer the question of whether a robot can write a theatre play and thus pass the most difficult Turing test to date. The debate will be translated into English for international audiences. The event will be streamed live on the Czech Centre London’s Facebook page and on http://www.theaitre.com \n\n\n\nABOUT THE PROJECT \n\n\n\nTomáš Studeník\, Czech radical innovator\, came up with the idea to celebrate the centenary of the premiere of Čapek’s play\, originally staged in Prague in January 1921\, by replacing Čapek by artificial intelligence as the playwright. The project was created in cooperation with the Švanda Theatre\, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University and the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. The aim has been to explore how artificial intelligence actually performs in a human creative discipline and how much it is able to create a usable theatrical script. \n\n\n\nDrama expert David Košťák who\, together with computer scientists\, oversaw the entire process\, reveals the beginning of the project when the language model was given basic parameters: who and where and two introductory replicas. These were then further developed by the computer. But as a lifeless beginner playwright\, the robot needed help from humans. ‘Sometimes it swapped female and male characters or clung to something irrelevant so the dialogue lost its meaning. And there is one more obstacle the robot is having difficulties with so far – the subtext. The play is not only about what the character says\, but also about what he or she actually thinks’\, says Košťák. \n\n\n\nWill computer programmes completely replace human playwrights one day? ‘It doesn’t look like it yet\, but it could help authors in the near future’\, concludes David Košťák. \n\n\n\nProject website: http://www.theaitre.com \n\n\n\nPartners of the project: THEaiTRE\, TA CR (The project TL03000348 THEaiTRE: Artificial Intelligence as the author of the play is co-financed with the state support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic within the ÉTA Program 3)\, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics\, Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics\, CEE Hacks\, Prg.ai\, DAMU\, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic\, Czech Centers\, Prague\, Prague 5 (The theatre is a stage of the capital city of Prague and is supported by the Municipality of Prague 5).
