DESCRIPTION:We’re back in Mayow Park! And we can’t wait to unveil our third family show of the year\, our originaladaptation of the beloved tales of master storyteller Beatrix Potter. Featuring many of your favouriteSpontaneous actors and songs based on well-known English folk songs\, expect amazing action\,fabulous dance routines\, wonderful costumes\, crazy chases – and look out for the giant gardener MrMcGregor! \n\n\n\nWelcome to the wonderful world of Beatrix Potter where Peter Rabbit\, Pigling Bland\, MrsTiggywinkle\, Jemima Puddleduck\, Jeremy Fisher\, Mr Tod the fox and more of her countrysidecreations are having a challenging day at the hands of Mr McGregor. Can the animals save the day\,along with Peter’s precious lost jacket? \n\n\n\nThis is our 19th original family show since 2017 and the sixth we have staged in Mayow Park’sbowling green. From the same team that brought you Alice in Wonderland in 2019\, Puss in Boots in2020\, The Gingerbread Man and Around the World in 80 Days in 2021\, our shows are fun\,fast-moving and musical versions of well-known stories\, always with a bit of a twist. This time we’llbe asking you to stay in the same place\, so do bring blankets to sit on. (As we are now sharing thevenue with Sydenham Croquet Club\, we must ensure the lawn is protected\, so please no high heels\,or chairs with pointy legs.) \n\n\n\nOur summer shows are always very popular so we advise early booking to avoid disappointment.Tickets may be purchase in advance online or at Kirkdale Bookshop in person. Any remaining seatswill be available on the door from 30 mins before show start time. \n\n\n\nImportant notice: this is an outdoor performance\, subject to weather conditions. SUMMARY:Around the World in 80 Days - Outdoor Theatre - Sydenham
DESCRIPTION:London 1872. Phileas Fogg is a stickler for timekeeping\, so when members of his gentlemen’s club wager that he cannot travel around the world in just 80 days\, he sets out to prove them wrong. \nAccompanied by his faithful French manservant Passepartout – in reality\, a young\, female inventor in disguise! – Fogg must traverse numerous exotic locales if he is to win the bet. All the while\, he is pursued by the very dogged detective Inspector Fix… \nThis promenade production will take you on a global quest to multiple locations – so be prepared to move throughout the show. Featuring fantastical steampunk stylings\, plus original musical numbers by Paul Tornbohm – performed with a live accompaniment by New Orleans jazz band Red Hot & Blue – this promises to be Spontaneous Productions’ biggest and boldest show yet! \nYou are very welcome to bring a blanket to sit on\, though we discourage bringing picnics and buggies as you will be asked to move regularly (you are very welcome to picnic in the park before or after the show!) Folding chairs can be provided for those who need them and ask those seated to sit near the back.

SUMMARY:ANIMAL FARM - Outdoor Theatre for Older Children (11+) and Adults
DESCRIPTION:“All animals are equal\, but some animals are more equal than others.”\nThe second presentation in our spectacular Summer Season of Outdoor Theatre is a new adaptation of George Orwell’s masterful satire of totalitarianism. \nFirst published in 1945\, Orwell’s stunning allegory of the corruption of the perfect society tells the story of the animals of Manor Farm. Inspired by visionary pig Old Major\, their dream of a new\, self-managed system is quickly soured by the innate greed of those who take power – in this case\, the pig Napoleon and his sycophantic sidekick Squealer. Only Snowball\, the idealistic pig who led the Rebellion\, appears to cling to Old Major’s dream\, but his rivals have other ideas… \nTold with the clarity of a fairytale but exploring dark themes and comic exaggeration\, our production is faithful to the original book – with a few twists\, of course! Expect powerful physical theatre performances\, stylised designs and costumes\, original music by Paul Tornbohm\, and occasional audience participation. This highly imaginative show will take you on a journey into the dark heart of man – and pig! \nPlease note that due to its themes\, this production is not suitable for young children. However\, those aged 11+ are very welcome\, though parental guidance is advised. \nOur summer shows are always top-rated\, so we advise early booking to avoid disappointment.
