SUMMARY:Curating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency with Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a four-session online course exploring how we live with art\, and how the art we live with shapes the way we live. \nCurating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency invites you to look closely at the rooms\, objects\, and artworks that surround you. Drawing on art practices\, histories\, philosophy\, exhibition-making\, and practices of everyday attention\, we will explore how meaning is shaped through arrangement\, context\, and the lived rhythms of domestic space. \nAcross four fortnightly sessions\, we will consider how art lives with us\, and how our gestures and choices quietly curate the places we inhabit. Each session includes case studies\, creative exercises\, and guided activities designed to help you think with and through your own environment. \nLed by artist\, educator\, and curator Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson and hosted by IMT Gallery\, the course offers a reflective and practical space for artists\, collectors\, curators\, students\, and anyone interested in how art shapes everyday life. \nPlaces are limited — the course begins on 12 April. \nEarly Bird rates are available until January 9 at 11:59 p.m. GMT. \nReady to rethink the spaces you live in? Follow the link below for full details and to enrol.

SUMMARY:Gathering Wands: Walk and Carving Workshop with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Centred on Harri Harrison’s sculptural Wands series in the group exhibition The House at IMT Gallery\, this workshop invites a shared evening of wandering\, foraging and making. \nThe workshop begins with a twilight walk through Victoria Park\, led by multimedia artist Harri Harrison. Moving along desire paths\, the group will allow themselves to wander off the obvious routes\, gathering found natural materials along the way. These paths offer a subtle\, gentle form of resistance\, a space for slower attention and observation. \nReturning to IMT Gallery\, we will gather our foraged materials and create our own wands using a combination of carving and binding techniques. The session concludes with a guided meditation and meditative drawing exercise. Together we will explore what it means to hold found natural materials\, noticing how our focus shifts between objects\, ourselves\, and the connections they hold.  \nNo previous experience needed\, and natural materials and tools will be provided. Feel free to bring your preferred drawing materials and any found items you would like to work with\, such as stones\, sticks\, shells\, dried flowers\, wood\, or string for binding. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking\, as paths may be slightly muddy. If you have any questions or specific access needs\, please feel free to get in touch. \nAbout Harri Harrison: \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities.  \nHarri has over 13 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nGathering Wands is open to all — wanderers\, makers\, quiet explorers\, and anyone curious to slow down\, attend to the everyday\, hold attention\, and reflect through making.  \nSpaces are limited. Reserve your place for an evening of quiet attention.

SUMMARY:Carromancy Divination Workshop with Rose-Marie Luk
DESCRIPTION:With the flickering glow of candlelight\, we will convene to unlock ancient wisdom and the language of the spirit. This workshop invites you to explore Carromancy Divination\, the timeless art of interpreting abstract forms from melted wax to access hidden messages by tapping into the subconscious\, and to set personal intentions for the days ahead. \nHeld within IMT Gallery’s group exhibition\, The House\, featuring works that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speaks to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. In dialogue with the exhibition\, carromancy invites you to attune to the subtle emotional landscapes of home. \nImmerse yourself in the gallery space\, subtly infused with aromatic lavender to relax the mind and calm the senses. A curated experience awaits: watch as lilac wax is poured into water to create abstract forms\, engage in guided sketching to capture fleeting shapes\, and join in meditative reflections that draw you closer to your intuitive self.  \nIn this two-hour workshop led by interdisciplinary artist Rose-Marie Luk\, you will: \n\nDiscover the ancient origins of Carromancy\, tracing its roots from Celtic druids to diverse indigenous traditions.\n\n\nEngage in a step-by-step creative process: pouring\, observing\, drawing\, and interpreting the shifting forms of candle wax.\n\n\nCraft a unique talisman spell jar by combining your wax creation with foraged objects and healing crystals\, imbuing it with your personal intentions for self-awareness and transformation.\n\n\nParticipate in reflective meditations designed to harmonise your creative energies and deepen your connection to the universe.\n\nAbout Rose-Marie Luk \nRose-Marie Luk explores her cross-cultural identity through transformative art practices that channel ancestral wisdom\, evoke forgotten memories\, and uncover hybrid creations. Using automatic techniques and sigil calligraphy\, she bridges the sacred and the spiritual\, transmuting confoundment into clarity. Rose-Marie’s practice speaks to lost languages and evolving identities\, encouraging connection\, growth\, and self discovery. In this workshop\, Rose-Marie channels ancient divination practices to help you reconnect with your inner vision and discover the alchemy of transformation. \nWhat To Expect  \nBelow we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Rose-Marie’s workshop\, as told by previous participants:  \n“[…] It exceeded expectations! I found this very interesting and relaxing. The environment has been so calm\, friendly and welcoming. I’ve loved how accessible this has been for someone who doesn’t consider themselves as a ‘natural’ artist as such.” \n“It’s a beautiful process to pace out and spend time doing – it gave space for really going with initial impression and working upon that.” \n“I learnt a lot about shifting how I observe and letting in the oracle nature of carromancy. It is worth trying because it is a unique way of spending an evening with others.” \nThis workshop is open to all—artists\, writers\, dreamers\, cloud-gazers\, poetic thinkers\, deep feelers\, curious explorers\, and open minded visionaries alike. \nPlease bring your preferred drawing materials and sketchbook\, additional supplies will also be provided. \nReserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge for residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council.

SUMMARY:Guest House: Sewing a Palm Tree Workshop with Elle Reynolds
DESCRIPTION:All are invited into the Guest House\, a shared\, temporary workspace formed through collective contribution and the relaxed palava of conversation. You don’t need to sew a palm tree if you don’t want to! \nParticipants are invited to sit together\, sew by hand\, talk\, listen\, share stories\, or simply observe. Some may choose to sew palm trees\, while others may work on repairs\, small tests\, or nothing at all. Conversation\, silence\, and informal knowledge-sharing are all part of the process\, as the work develops slowly and collectively over the session. \nThe workshop is led by artist Elle Reynolds\, whose practice works through collaborative processes\, storytelling\, and material experimentation. Her work explores making as a way of thinking together\, with a particular interest in shared authorship\, provisional forms\, and the social life of materials. \nParticipants will experience sewing as a social and conversational practice\, build confidence working with their hands in a low-pressure environment\, and contribute to a shared\, provisional body of work. The session offers space to reflect on ideas of elsewhere\, slowness\, care\, and collective making\, rather than producing a defined outcome. \nThe Guest House takes place within IMT Gallery’s group exhibition\, The House\, featuring works that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speak to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. The exhibition includes Elle Reynolds’ film Morass and sculptural sound piece Black Sun Loungers: The Caribbean Gaze. \nAbout Elle Reynolds: \nArtist/scholarresearcherquiet disrupter\, Elle Reynolds has a background in organising practice. She continually challenges traditional institutional structures\, reimagining the use of time and space. Her art-making under the pseudonym Guest-Host-Guest includes object installation\, collaborative events\, performative storytelling\, and interventions that unsettle the notion of the archive through spatial exploration\, participation\, and the disruption of academic language. She holds a PhD investigating alternative art school spaces and serves as a Non-Executive Director and Board member of TOMA (The Other MA)\, an alternative art school in Southend-on-Sea\, Essex. Recent projects include workshops for New Contemporaries and Creative Break Time. She is currently Programme Leader of the Graduate Diploma in Art at Goldsmiths. \nAll materials including fabric\, threads\, embroidery rings and needles will be provided\, and herbal tea served. No experience is necessary\, just bring your curiosity\, a willingness to get hands-on\, and an open mind. \nTo keep this workshop intimate\, spaces are limited; reserve your spot now for an evening of creativity\, conversation\, and connection.

SUMMARY:Seeing Art With The Whole Body Movement Workshop with Claire Loussouarn
DESCRIPTION:In dialogue with IMT Gallery’s group exhibition\, The House\, Seeing Art With The Whole Body is a movement workshop that invites participants to explore how to listen and receive an artist’s artwork and world through the three-dimensionality of our sensory bodies\, moving away from an ocular-centred understanding of engaging with art. \nLed by movement artist and somatic practitioner Claire Loussouarn\, the workshop asks: how can we engage the whole range of our sensory machine when we come into contact with art and\, in doing so\, reclaim the full ability of our bodies to feel and express themselves in response?  \nAs well as exploring different ways of entering the artworks through movement and spatial awareness\, we will attend to how bodies cross thresholds between private and public space\, between being unseen and being on display\, between dwelling and exhibition. \nNo previous movement experience is required\, just curiosity and a willingness to explore. \nSpace is limited — click below for full workshop details

SUMMARY:The House - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery presents The House\, an exhibition of works by Tom Clark\, Guest-Host-Guest\, Harri Harrison\, Heiðdís Hólm\, Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson\, Anna Sebastian\, Kristina Stallvik and Suzanne Treister. It features work that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speaks to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. \nThe exhibition is a place where we might live. Often\, when visitors come to this gallery\, they ask her if she lives here. They ask\, “Do you live here?” They ask\, “Are these your cats?” I lived here once too. I don’t anymore. This exhibition is about living somewhere. Perhaps it is about reaching for this thing. \nIn the words of Guest-Host-Guest: ‘Here\, the house is a metaphor for assumed belonging. A place we are expected to be ‘resolved’ or ‘satisfied’\, even when displacement\, precarity\, and contested ownership sit just beneath the surface.’ \nThe exhibition is a hand with a mirror in front of it. The mirror reflects some flowers or a field. Behind the hand is a sky. In front of the sky is a blank\, featureless wall. All these things at various distances from the camera. A cat; a home; a gallery; a municipality listed on a birth certificate (since burned). The house. \nCurating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency\nOnline Course with Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson \nApril – May 2026 \nOrganised to coincide with The House\, join us for a four-session online course exploring how we live with art\, and how the art we live with shapes the way we live. \nHeld fortnightly\, Curating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency invites you to look closely at the rooms\, objects\, and artworks that surround you. SUMMARY:Drawing Lines of Intention: Manifestation Geometry Workshop with Maggie Roberts
DESCRIPTION:Create your own manifestation tool with artist Maggie Roberts\, held within ‘Sheer Presence’\, her latest solo exhibition at IMT Gallery. \nIn this two-hour workshop\, Roberts will introduce the ancient practice of manifestation grids\, geometric layouts that have been used across cultures and across time to expand and transform human experience. The session will begin with a guided meditation before participants create their own manifestation layout based on the geometry at the centre of Roberts’ exhibition. She will then guide participants through getting to know their layout and finding their own way into focusing attention in communication with this multidimensional tool. \n🎟 Reserve your place now for an evening of intention and connection. Concessions are available.

SUMMARY:and we walk: A Silent Meditative Walk with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Connect deeply with urban surroundings through silence\, mantra\, and light projections on a gentle dusk walk along the Regent’s Canal. \nYou are warmly invited to join artist Harri Harrison for and we walk\, a silent\, meditative journey at twilight from IMT Gallery through Broadway Market\, towards Victoria Park. Experience the city anew\, guided by quiet reflection and illuminated mantras that transform everyday urban spaces into opportunities to witness and reflect upon personal journeys and the spaces we inhabit. \nAs we walk\, Harri’s personal mantras will softly illuminate local landmarks and ordinary city furnishings\, encouraging us to reconsider and reconnect with our shared urban environment. These ephemeral projections stem from Harri’s ongoing body of work\, repeat after me\, created using handheld text projectors and cyanotype prints. Harri’s toolbox of grounding mantras invite us to explore deeper connections with one another\, the natural world\, and our evolving concept of ‘home’. \nWe will begin our evening at IMT Gallery with a grounding meditation and herbal tea\, listening deeply to the heart of Bethnal Green\, before stepping out to witness the city through fresh eyes. The walk covers approximately 3 km along the canal towpath. Please reach out if you have any questions or specific access needs. \nThis workshop offers a welcoming space to meet new people\, enjoy gentle exercise\, and encourage conversations around home\, communities\, and the environment. We invite you to slow down and connect with overlooked local spaces and create personal mantras for personal growth. All welcome\, no experience necessary. \nAbout Harri Harrison \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities. Harri has over 12 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nReserve your spot for now for an evening of inspiration and connection. Concessions are available. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:Plant Gazing: Under Waxing Crescent Moon with artist Joseph Walsh
DESCRIPTION:As we approach July’s full moon\, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with plant allies and set personal intentions for the days ahead. \nIn alchemy\, the art of drawing plants holds a twofold significance. On one level it represents the material aspect of the alchemical process\, of sunlight and water becoming stem\, leaf and flower. On a deeper symbolic level\, the depiction of plants embodies the concept of growth and transformation\, informing the practitioner – an alchemical self. \nImmerse yourself in the IMT Gallery space\, subtly infused with frankincense – woody\, fresh and up-lifting. A curated selection of plants will be available for drawing\, accompanied by prompts and guidance on the techniques of plant gazing and observation. \nIn this two hour workshop we will explore the mysteries of plants through drawing\, painting\, and meditative observations\, we will go beyond the confines of the ordinary. We’ll take a moment to reconnect to our bodies and the living world through a serene Rose tea ceremony\, grounding ourselves in the present moment. We will consider rose energy* \nAbout Joseph Walsh \nJoseph Walsh\, an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants. Using drawing\, painting and film to actualise a co-existing with nature. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University\, and recently delivered the course Floral Time: How Artists Describe Plants at the Berlin Art Institute\, workshops at Beaconsfield Gallery and the Jamyang Buddhist Centre\, as well as sharing insights with art students at Goldsmiths and Reading University. \nWhat To Expect \nBelow we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Joseph’s workshop\, as told by previous participants: \n“The workshop was well structured\, and thus we were able to connect with the plant on a deeper level. Joe is a meticulous facilitator. Thank you”. \n“A very naturally held space offering freedom to be intuitive\, and be yourself. The time flowed perfectly. An exploration and very close look into the oneness\, mirroring thoughts within the group. What a full whole\, rich experience with the plants\, yourself and each other.” \n*Observations made by Joseph\, with rose – “In alchemy the rose is symbolic of conjunction\, it is supporting and underlying the marriage of opposites. Soft\, buffering\, slowing down. Small insects dwell within petals\, cushioned\, intoxicated. This is how it felt for me too. The bee moves closer to the centre\, three rounds of rose tea. Perfumed aroma in swirls and spirals\, circular time. Definition and edge dissolved. Petals unfurling. Surrender myself to it. Rose is associated with love and romance.”\nThis workshop is designed for individuals who seek to deepen their connection with nature and explore their creative potential. No prior experience is required – just an open heart and a curious mind. While drawing materials will be provided\, feel free to bring your own sketchbooks and preferred materials to enhance your experience. \nReserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge to residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council.

SUMMARY:Soyoung Hyun | Invitation To A Ritual
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery is proud to present the first UK solo exhibition of Paris-based artist Soyoung Hyun. Invitation To A Ritual features two interconnected bodies of work: Purification box and Shadow. These works delve into themes of memory\, transformation\, and the delicate boundary between presence and absence. Hyun draws on personal and cultural rituals as pathways to emotional healing. Her ceramic pieces oscillate between functional objects and sculptural forms\, blurring traditional boundaries and inviting viewers into an introspective experience. \nHyun’s Purification box series is a collection of clay vessels adorned with volcanic stones from Mount Etna. Each serving as a repository for negative thoughts or experiences—such as traumas\, obsessions\, or unwanted habits—that the individual seeks to distance from and transform. Drawing inspiration from personal and cultural rituals\, these boxes provide a physical space to externalise and reinterpret these memories\, facilitating a process of emotional cleansing. Through this series\, Hyun examines how art can serve as a bridge between the tangible and intangible\, guiding individuals toward healing and renewal. \nShadow series captures the ephemeral nature of shadows\, sculpting them into ceramic forms that represent the silhouettes of vases and flowers. This series delves into the duality of permanence and impermanence\, contrasting the solid\, tactile nature of ceramics with the fleeting\, intangible qualities of a shadow. Drawing on Korean folklore\, where a shadow is seen as evidence of life\, Hyun’s shadow works embody a paradox: they are tangible representations of something inherently immaterial\, symbolising life and presence despite their lack of a fixed form. Through this\, the Shadow series explores themes of existence\, memory\, and the delicate boundary between life and illusion. \nSoyoung Hyun is a Korean-born\, Paris-based artist known for her handcrafted ceramics that explore the perpetual transformation of organic textures and natural forms. Hyun’s practice embraces raw gestures and repetitive processes\, reflecting on the harmony and tension between nature’s impermanence and the permanence of human touch. \nHyun studied fine Art at the University of Paris 8 and Hongik University in Seoul. She has exhibited internationally in Paris\, Copenhagen\, Ghent and Shanghai. Recent exhibitions include Un livre est comme un jardin que l’on porte dans sa poche (A book is like a garden that you carry in your pocket)\, Yvon Lambert\, Paris (2025); Soleil Mauve (Purple Sun)\, Réfectoire des Nonnes\, ENSBA\, Lyon (2024); Dropping\, LMDS\, Shanghai (2023) and Impossible objects – Tell me i Exist\, K41\, Copenhagen (2023). In 2024\, Hyun was invited to lead a workshop at Lafayette Anticipations in Paris\, and presented an artistic protocol and conducted workshops as part of an exhibition at FRAC Île-de-France in connection with Warm Blooded and Earthbound by Eglé Budvytyté. \nCoinciding with Invitation To A Ritual\, IMT Gallery is excited to participate in this year’s London Gallery Weekend from 6 – 8 June. To celebrate our 20th anniversary\, we are launching a new apparel label featuring wearable artworks. Join us for the launch event on Saturday 7 June from 7–10pm.

SUMMARY:Plant Gazing: Under Saille Moon Workshop with Joseph Walsh
DESCRIPTION:Connect with Earth’s plant allies through drawing\, painting and tea ceremony… \nThe moon in Sagittarius is an ideal moment to receive knowledge from other kinds of consciousness. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with plant allies and set personal intentions for the month ahead. \nIn alchemy\, the art of drawing plants holds a twofold significance. On one level\, it represents the material aspect of the alchemical process of sunlight and water becoming stem\, leaf and flower. On a deeper symbolic level\, the depiction of plants embodies the concept of growth and transformation\, informing the practitioner – an alchemical self* \nImmerse yourself in the IMT Gallery space\, subtly smudged with mugwort to encourage chi flow. A curated selection of plants will be available for drawing\, accompanied by prompts and guidance on plant gazing and observation techniques. \nIn this two-hour workshop\, we will explore the mysteries of plants through drawing\, painting\, and meditative observations\, going beyond the confines of the ordinary. \nWe reconnect to our bodies and the living world through a serene tea ceremony\, grounding ourselves in the present moment. We will look at Ground Ivy\, which is aromatic\, clearing\, and warming. \nJoseph Walsh is an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants. Using drawing\, painting and film to actualise a co-existing with nature. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University and recently delivered Floral Time: How Artists Describe Plants at the Berlin Art Institute\, workshops at Beaconsfield Gallery and No Show Space\, and shared insights with art students at Goldsmiths and Reading University. \nWhat To Expect \nBelow\, we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Joseph’s workshop\, as told by previous participants: \n“The workshop was well structured\, and thus\, we connected with the plant on a deeper level. An exploration and very close look into the oneness\, mirroring thoughts within the group. What a rich experience with the plants\, yourself and each other.” \nPlease bring your preferred drawing materials and sketchbook; materials will also be provided. \n*In Permaculture\, ‘guilds ‘ are the names for a collective of plants\, each contributing to the ecology. Like a loungey spread\, Ground Ivy is ground cover at woodland edges and shady wasteland\, creeping along the earth\, a veneer for dank and damp domains.\nIt is connected to witchcraft\, as it was said to drive off other flora. But that is not what I notice. It occupies gaps and crevices as if palming or sealing them\, and other plants grow in this situation. ’ Cat foot‘ is another name. \nIn the doctrine of signatures\, where the herb looks like what it cures\, its toothed curvy leaves resemble human ears and appealing sound waves; it is medicine for tinnitus and earache. \n🎟️ Reserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge for residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:David Burrows | Spooky Affects At A Distance
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery proudly presents Spooky Affects At A Distance\, a solo exhibition by David Burrows. Through fictional means\, the exhibition engages with contemporary politics and cultures and their aesthetics of appearance\, proposing a cosmopolitics modelled on the mysterious nature of black holes and derived from dreams\, mythology\, and Black Hole Ontology (being not as things appear). Featuring paintings\, drawings\, film\, and assemblages\, the exhibition draws on the concept of singularities\, their abstractive and transformative dynamics\, and their durations ruled by collapse and rejuvenation.

They sharpen the mind\, have anti-inflammatory properties\, and are ceremoniously used to purify space. \nAbout Joseph Walsh \nJoseph Walsh is an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants. Joe is a meticulous facilitator. Thank you”. \n“A naturally held space offers freedom to be intuitive and be yourself. The time flowed perfectly. An exploration and very close look into the oneness\, mirroring thoughts within the group. What a rich experience with the plants\, yourself and each other.” \nPlease bring your preferred drawing materials and sketchbook; materials will also be provided. \n*Observations made by Joseph plant gazing under Vine Moon with Hawthorn – \n“The hedgerow\, a stopover\, shelter and thicket for beings. Heart tonic\, thicket thickening\, berry red of cardiovascular\, a stopover for birds. Branches shift and alter according to the environment; each lobed leaf differs. The doctrine of signatures\, where plant forms are like body parts\, is the heart as an organ of perception. \nA tiny amount of berries dotting the tree\, gleaning the teeniest amount. It’s before winter\, amongst fullness rather than emptiness.” \nReserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge for residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:Plant Gazing: Under Vine Moon Workshop with Joseph Walsh
DESCRIPTION:Connect with Earth’s plant allies through drawing\, painting and tea ceremony… \nAs we approach September’s Waning Crescent Moon\, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with plant allies and set personal intentions for the month ahead. \nIn alchemy\, the art of drawing plants holds a twofold significance. On one level it represents the material aspect of the alchemical process\, of sunlight and water becoming stem\, leaf and flower. On a deeper symbolic level\, the depiction of plants embodies the concept of growth and transformation\, informing the practitioner – an alchemical self* \nImmerse yourself in the IMT Gallery space\, subtly infused with Yarrow and Rosemary\, earthy and clearing. \nTake a moment to reconnect to our bodies and the living world through a serene tea ceremony\, grounding ourselves in the present moment. We will select from the hedgerow with hawthorn\, rosehip or hops. We will also consider the hedgerow as thicket\, stopover and shelter for beings. \nAbout Joseph Walsh \nJoseph Walsh\, an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants. Using drawing\, painting and film to actualise a co-existing with nature. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University\, and recently delivered the course Floral Time: How Artists Describe Plants at the Berlin Art Institute\, workshops at Beaconsfield Gallery and No Show Space\, as well as sharing insights with art students at Goldsmiths and Reading University. \nWhat To Expect \nBelow we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Joseph’s workshop\, as told by previous participants:\n“The workshop was well structured\, and thus we were able to connect with the plant on a deeper level. An exploration and very close look into the oneness\, mirroring thoughts within the group. What a full whole\, rich experience with the plants\, yourself and each other.”\n\n“Mindful\, healing\, educational\, communal” \nWhile drawing materials will be provided\, feel free to bring your own sketchbooks and preferred materials to enhance your experience. \n*Observations made by Joseph plant gazing under waxing crescent moon\, with rose – “In alchemy the rose is symbolic of conjunction\, it is supporting and underlying the marriage of opposites. Rose is associated with love and romance”. \nReserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. SUMMARY:Kenji Lim | Spend Time Not Thinking About Tomorrow
DESCRIPTION:  \nUnder clear\, magenta skies\, they choose to settle\, nursed by the shade of passing trees. Warmth still lingers in the grasslands\, but the day is fading fast. Shadows of nightwings flicker over the hay\, swooping into branchy nests. \nStep lightly\, and take care of the amoeba underfoot. Leave no trace. The pitter-patter of pseudotoes echoes down desire paths between the shallow groves. Time glides with no familiar route ahead\, and dappled light scatters like many marbles over the blueish plains. The sun is falling\, auburn rays shine over swathes of caterpillar reeds\, their eyes peeping into the beams of last light. Cat tongues uncurl from bleary-faced cocoons\, eager for the night\, for a taste. \nOrbs wait above a lake\, rolling in place\, humming an absent-minded tune. A purr of regeneration dances on the air currents\, charging the lake below. In between contented rocks\, jewel water flows\, giving life to uncommon lands. Fur-laden tracks lead away\, soggy from the fuchsia puddles\, fluffy ends squeezing into secret mossy holes. \nLook down. Fleshy cups\, suckered at the rim of the lake spit pearls along the shoreline. Hungry mouths gape\, teeth brace\, swallowing dusk. Lichen bubbles between a chorus of drinking bristles\, the body hair of this earth. Life is not just surface-bound and sensible. It rains onto the ground\, sunstained\, settling to graze on this rich mess of violet roots. Please don’t touch the wildlife; take it for what it is. \nNew and unexpected stars yield an entangled bond\, shifting form when seen or unseen. That happens here\, between each button paw\, craggy horn\, and stalking eye. It plays out all at once\, under the trail of the moons. \nCan we ask about hills and waters or sing about bracken and fungus? They murmur into each other’s ears. They come down over a cliff face in a river of slime and leaf-fall\, tumbling into the reflection of a low pool. \nIn the age of unconquered pasture\, the wind grazes an unembraceable heaven\, a shyer blush of pink and blue. Rosey hills fold neatly\, with an orange sun hurrying to set between them. The beings beneath its gaze continue\, undisturbed\, as they always have. \nThey rest. Their silence whispers\, off you go now; this place was never meant for you. \nText by Charlotte Cole \nKenji Lim is a British artist based in Essex and born in Singapore. Lim studied sculpture at the Royal College of Art\, London (MA – 2017-2019) and at the Ruskin School of Art\, Oxford University (BFA – 1999-2002). Lim works through sculpture\, video\, digital collage\, installation and painting. His work reflects and refracts the landscape experience through the prisms of culture\, myth\, philosophy\, and the metaphysical\, returning the gaze of Western cultural norms through the eyes of other-than-human actors. Part archaeological\, part Fraggle Rock\, he navigates alternative modes of seeing and understanding the world and its inhabitants. Lim’s work is shown internationally\, including recent exhibitions\, such as Tourist at Galerie Reinthaler\, Vienna\, and Perishing Thirst at Quench Gallery\, Margate. He is an Acme Work/Live Artist at High House in Purfleet\, Essex.

SUMMARY:Plant Gazing: Under Dandelion Moon
DESCRIPTION:Step into the enchanting realm of artist Joseph Walsh’s transformative workshop\, where alchemy and artistic expression interweave. \nAs we approach May we see the emergence of the Dandelion Moon.  Flora of spring is appearing and some are nutrient rich to support our flourishing. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with plant allies and set personal intentions for the coming months. \nImmerse yourself in the IMT Gallery space\, subtly smudged with Clary Sage and Rose to encourage chi flow and inspire clarity. A curated selection of plants will be available for drawing\, accompanied by prompts and guidance on the techniques of plant gazing and observation. Joseph Walsh will guide you through a series of “warm up” exercises for shifting habitual ways of looking\, moving on to experimental longer durational drawing sketches. Prompts will be given to glean and speculate what may be communicated by shape\, form and behaviour\, what Anthropologist Gregory Bateson calls “transforms of environment”. \nTake a moment to ground yourself and reconnect with your body\, sipping on Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) tea\, cultivated and harvested from Joseph’s wildlife plot. Rich in vitamins\, minerals and antioxidants\, it pioneers and restores poor soil\, whilst in our own bodies\, it tonifies liver and kidneys. We will take influence from this earth regulator to set our own intentions into spring. As a special takeaway\, participants will receive a portion of this tea – an intentional offering for personal contemplation or to share with someone special. \nJoseph Walsh\, an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants.
