A hugely engaging stage presence\, his soaring vocal\, powerhouse guitar and bouzouki playing and masterful arrangements of traditional songs and contemporary covers have enthralled audiences from the largest festival main stages to the most intimate folk clubs. Following on from his critically acclaimed second album Gold of Scar & Shale\, 2022 will see the release of a brand new EP\, with 2023 bringing the successor to Gold of Scar & Shale in the form of a new album of traditional songs. \n‘Among Britain’s finest traditional singers.’ – Folk Radio UK \n‘An outstanding performer.’ – The Independent \nOpening this show will be Fellow Pynins. \nFellow Pynins is a Portland\, Oregon based contemporary folk duo with an anchor in the balladry tradition.

DESCRIPTION:The Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful fireside concert with Comorian and Suntou Susso. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRediscover one of life’s simplest joys – the sharing of live music in the glow of a campfire. \nEvery summer\, we gather in beautiful green spaces within cities to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world. \nIn the simple way that people have done for thousands of years\, we come together around the fire to enjoy music\, food\, drink and the company of others. \nFor this Campfire Club we are delighted to present co-headliners Comorian and Suntou Susso. \nThe Comorian duo features singers and instrument-builders\, M’madi and Soubi\, who utilize homemade double-sided guitars. Comorian’s debut album was recorded 100% live and outdoors on the Comoros Islands by Grammy-winning producer and author\, Ian Brennan (Tinariwen\, Ustad Saami\, Malawi Mouse Boys\, Zomba Prison Project). Comoros is one of the smallest nations on earth and Comorian’s album\, We Are an Island\, But We’re Not Alone was named one of the best of the year by Folk Radio UK and given a 4-star review in The Times and a 5-star review by BBC Music. The album marked the first widely-distributed international release of original songs from Comoros \nSuntou Susso is a multi-instrumentalist: Kora player\, percussionist\, singer and composer from The Gambia. \nBorn a Griot in a 700-year old tradition\, the Kora – harp-lute with 22 strings – is unique to the Griots of the Mandinka people. Griots have a unique societal role as oral historians\, transmitting and preserving a people’s culture through the generations in song\, music and poetry.

DESCRIPTION:The Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful fireside concert with Rachel Newton. \n\n\n\n\n\nRediscover one of life’s simplest joys – the sharing of live music in the glow of a campfire. \nEvery summer\, we gather in beautiful green spaces within cities to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world. \nIn the simple way that people have done for thousands of years\, we come together around the fire to enjoy music\, food\, drink and the company of others. \n\nFor this Campfire Club we are delighted to present Rachel Newton. \nBBC Radio 2 Folk awards\, Scots Trad awards\, Scottish album of the Year\, and Songlines Top of the World Editor’s Pick winning singer and harpist Rachel Newton specialises in interpreting traditional folk songs in both English and Scottish Gaelic as well as writing and performing her own instrumental pieces. \nA skilled collaborator\, Rachel is a founder member of the successful UK folk bands The Shee and The Furrow Collective. She also plays fiddle and viola and works across a range of performance platforms including theatre and storytelling. \n‘Haunting vocals and elegant harp’ – The Guardian \n‘Harp and strings blur the border between worlds’ – The Financial Times \nThe opening act for this show is Ruby Colley. \nRuby Colley is a violinist and composer. She creates instrumental soundscapes that are far beyond the realm of traditional playing\, with the complex web of sound more akin to an electric orchestra.

Amadou Diagne from Senegal and French-American Cory Seznec hit it off that spring day years ago\, planting the seeds of future collaboration in their minds. Life embarked them on different touki (journey in Wolof)\, but with the recent support of an Arts Council of England grant\, Amadou and Cory have been able to see their seedling shoot up into the light. \nThe opening act for this show is Modeste Hugues.

They are all exceptional musicians and fine singers and play English traditional and original music. Since 2009 they have toured across the UK and Europe and been heralded for their lively performances and delivery and selection of traditional songs. \n“Their high-octane take on English folk has brought a whole new audience to the genre.” – The Irish Times \n \n  \nWhat the audience said: \n“Getting to hear live music after so long was deeply emotional and the feeling of collective spirit (especially now) was really powerful.” \n“The sun setting over the garden and Thames and the amazing overall relaxed (yet ‘safe’) ambience of the event.
