DESCRIPTION:The Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful fireside concert with Calan. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRediscover one of life’s simplest joys – the sharing of live music in the glow of a campfire. \nEvery summer\, we gather in beautiful green spaces within cities to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world. \nIn the simple way that people have done for thousands of years\, we come together around the fire to enjoy music\, food\, drink and the company of others. \nFor this Campfire Club we are delighted to present Calan. \nCALAN are a multi award-winning Welsh folk band comprising of five virtuoso musicians formed after they met at a folk music course in Sweden. They won international acclaim at the world-renowned Inter-Celtic Festival in Lorient\, France\, where they would eventually become the first Welsh ensemble to win the coveted International Band Trophy. In April 2019\, they were voted Best Band at the inaugural Wales Folk Awards. \nThe support act for this show is Ceitidh Mac.

DESCRIPTION:Live Gigs – Campfire Club: Polly Paulusma\n \nThe Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful outdoor concert with Polly Paulusma. \nEvery week from June to September\, we gather in beautiful green spaces across London to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world. \nIn the simple way that people have done for thousands of years\, we come together around the fire to enjoy music\, food\, drink\, and the company of others. \nThe support artist for this date is The People Versus. \nPolly Paulusma \nIn 2003\, tucked away in her garden shed\, 28-year-old Polly Paulusma recorded her debut album ‘Scissors In My Pocket’. Record label One Little Indian signed her up\, and ‘Scissors…’ received immediate and widespread critical acclaim upon its international release in 2004. Paulusma was catapulted worldwide\, supporting Bob Dylan\, Jamie Cullum\, Coldplay\, The Divine Comedy\, Marianne Faithfull\, and played Glastonbury\, T in the Park and Cambridge Folk Festival. \n“the finest young British female singer-songwriter to emerge over the last 12 months” – Uncut \n“complete\, pure and personal” – MOJO. \nThe People Versus borrow from a variety of genres and traditions. Their combined voices and instrumental lines swoop\, circle and support the beguiling voice and personality of the lead singer Alice Edwards. Each song is taut with feeling and longing\, many inspired by Greek myth and tales from Shakespeare. \nWhat the audience said: \n“Getting to hear live music after so long was deeply emotional\, and the feeling of collective spirit (especially now) was really powerful.” \n“The sun setting over the garden and Thames and the amazing overall relaxed (yet ‘safe’) ambience of the event. Very moving to be at a live gig finally.” \n“The beautiful venue\, the beautiful music\, the beautiful weather! Thank you so much.” \n“This was my first live music event since the beginning of the year and\, although the acts were brilliant\, I think what will stay with me is the joy of being with people and enjoying the moment together. I feel very grateful to you all for putting on the event.” \n“This event was phenomenal. I cannot wait until I attend another one the musicians were something else. A much-in-demand collaborator\, she has been a key member of influential folk acts\, including Eliza Carthy’s Wayward Band\, the Emily Portman Trio and Carthy\, Oates\, Farrell & Young. As one-quarter of the critically acclaimed band The Furrow Collective\, she won the ‘Best Band’ category at the BBC Folk Awards in 2018. \n“One of the most refreshing interpreters of traditional song in the UK” – Songlines. \n  \nBurd Ellen \n \n  \nBurd Ellen is a project featuring Debbie Armour (Alasdair Roberts\, Green Ribbons) and Gayle Brogan (Pefkin\, Electroscope). The group uses traditional songs to explore and evoke dark landscapes and deep stories.
