SUMMARY:Summer at Battersea Park Children's Zoo
DESCRIPTION:Battersea Park Children’s Zoo Announces Exciting Summer Programme with Wild Wednesdays\, Conservation Campaigns\, and Special Keeper Talks\nBattersea Park Children’s Zoo is bringing the wild to south London this summer with an action-packed programme of events designed to educate\, entertain\, and inspire visitors throughout August. \n \nPioneering Social Media Education with #ShareSavvy Saturday \nOn 2nd August\, Battersea Park Children’s Zoo will host #ShareSavvy Saturday\, a campaign led by BPCZ addressing the impact of social media on wild animals and the exotic pet trade. #ShareSavvy educates animal enthusiasts about responsible social media usage to help preserve wild populations. \nThe day features a free information stall running from 11am-4pm where visitors can test their knowledge through games and learn how to combat the exotic pet trade from home. Interactive workshops at 10:30am and 2pm will teach participants how to navigate social media in ways that benefit wildlife\, suitable for internet users of all ages. \nCotton-Top Tamarin Day Celebrates Conservation \nThe zoo’s resident cotton-top tamarins\, Diego and Nellie\, take centre stage on 15th August for cotton-top tamarin day. This special celebration combines education with fundraising\, featuring primate-themed crafts and games positioned outside the tamarins’ enclosure. \nVisitors can participate in badge and keyring making while learning about Proyecto Titi’s vital conservation work in Colombia. The event highlights the important connection between zoo animals and their wild counterparts\, demonstrating how local visits can support global conservation efforts. \n \nWild Wednesdays Take Centre Stage \nEvery Wednesday in August (6th\, 13th\, 20th & 27th)\, families can “Go WILD” at the zoo with a programme of dancing\, storytelling\, crafts and games alongside encounters with the zoo’s fantastic animal residents. \n“Zoo Moves!” return to the zoo – featuring the zoo’s very own original song. Taking place at 10:30am and 1:45pm\, visitors can dust off their dancing shoes and learn choreographed moves suitable for all ages\, led by enthusiastic zoo team members. \nAt 11:15am a specially written story about the zoo’s animals will bring the characters to life. Meanwhile\, the Hive Cabin becomes a creative hub from 11:30am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm\, offering themed crafts and activities each week: \n\n\n6th August: Bird feeder building \n\n\n13th August: Make your own binoculars and zoo I Spy \n\n\n20th August: Butterfly collages \n\n\n27th August: Nature pictures \n\n\nSome activities are free with admission\, with some optional paid craft activities available in the Hive Cabin. \n \nEnhanced Keeper Talk Programme \nThroughout the summer holidays\, the zoo has expanded its popular keeper talk schedule\, offering visitors daily opportunities to learn from the dedicated professionals who care for the animals.
