It is a relaxed afternoon where you can move around\, have a cup of tea\, try something creative\, listen in\, ask questions\, meet new people or simply enjoy being in a friendly women only space. \nCommuni-TEA is perfect for women who want to meet others locally\, take a break from a busy week\, try something new\, or enjoy a positive afternoon in good company. DESCRIPTION:An exhibition of rebellion and play for the curious\, the competitive\, and anyone bold enough to swing outside the lines.\nPlay your way through nine adventurous mini-golf holes\, each designed by a leading woman artist\, as you explore the game’s subversive history. \nArtist\, filmmaker and writer Miranda July (All Fours) goes ‘All Fores’ for the project. Kaylene Whiskey sets course with pop icons woven through Anangu culture. Tokyo’s Saeborg unleashes latex creatures of cartoonish menace\, Delaine Le Bas squares the circle\, and Natasha Tontey entwines speculative storytelling with mythology\, technology\, and alternative histories. Atlanta rapper BKTHERULA joins sound artist Kate Miller to make swamp flowers bloom. Australian duo Soda Jerk open an algorithmic K-hole\, and prolific photographer Pat Brassington dives headfirst. \nOnly the most audacious artists are here because mini golf itself was born of rebellion. The game was originally invented by 19th-century Scottish women who were banned from ‘real’ courses but refused to sit on the sidelines. \nPick your putter. It’s art that fills the cup.

DESCRIPTION:Unconventional opera company Gothic Opera returns to Battersea Arts Centre this Halloween\, this time with the UK staged premiere of Die Rheinnixen (The Nixies of the Rhine)\, an unjustly neglected\, Romantic work by Jacques Offenbach. \nDie Rheinnixen\, which is Offenbach’s first take on grand opera\, encompasses the growing nationalism of its time\, as well as the genre’s fascination with the supernatural. Gothic Opera is delighted to be staging this horror story for the first time in the UK. \nIn the capable hands of the award-winning international stage director Max Hoehn\, the evocative crumbling architecture of Battersea Arts Centre’s Grand Hall will be transformed into the time of the Weimar Republic\, a period of nationalism and unease. \nIn a bold production that will speak to our current times\, Gothic Opera will be joined by exciting conductor Hannah von Wiehler\, who has a very busy career across Europe. Leon Haxby\, the young composer whose previous work for the company was praised in Opera magazine for its “haunting magic” and “compassionate insight\,” has created a new chamber orchestration of the opera for seven instruments.
