SUMMARY:The Dunwich Horror: An Opera
DESCRIPTION:A rural town. A dark summoning. A hunger that destroys all. Can you survive the Dunwich Horror? \nPerformed in near total darkness\, The Dunwich Horror: An Opera is a soundscape of life in an isolated village being terrorized by a force it doesn’t understand. With flute\, theremin\, and the human voice\, Jen Hazel‘s original score will bring you into HP Lovecraft’s tale with a strong seasoning of American vernacular music of the 1920s. Storyteller Laura Sampson and experimental musician Sam Enthoven return from the Dreamlands shadow puppet shows alongside TL Wiswell. Do you dare enter a world of party line phones\, dusty grimoires\, and extradimensional beings with a thirst for blood? In the end\, your voice may be needed to set Dunwich free. \n  \nProduced and presented by Vulcanello Production \nMusic: Jen Hazel\nWords: TL Wiswell \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Orpheus and Euridice
DESCRIPTION:Orpheus and Eurydice is a contemporary chamber opera and dark comedy inspired by the Greek myth. Twenty years after descending into the underworld\, Orpheus has forgotten why he is there. He and Eurydice live inside in their grave\, as if it were a small apartment: they wake up every day\, drink tea\, read the news\, water the plants\, and sleep\, repeating the same ritual day after day. But one evening Orpheus’ memory begins to return and this is changing everything. \nWith Bauhaus\, and queer futuristic aesthetics\, this new opera is a surreal descent into the folly of the underworld of love and loss in a complex political climate resembling the pre Second World War Era. A surreal opera about love and loss\, the horrors of repetition and all things bizarre that the underworld can hold. An operatic ode to antimilitarism and an antidote to the growing fascism through the timelessness of love. \nProduced and presented by Vertebra Theatre CIC / Mayra Stergiou \nMusic: Elif Karlidag\nDirector/Librettist: Mayra Stergiou \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:The History of Mr Polly: Part One
DESCRIPTION:Desperate times for Mr Polly! \nHe’s stuck in a marriage with his cousin and dragged down by their failing shop.  He detests them both.  How did he let his life get so intolerable? \nWas it his failure to make his own choices?  His escapism and wanderlust?  Or\, inspired by the books he so avidly reads\, falling head over heels for the unattainable Christabel? \nWhatever\, he’s reached the point where drastic measures are called for.  What else can he do but burn everything down? \nBased on H.G. Wells’ comedy of manners\, this is an evening of tragicomic\, tuneful teasing about the lives of the petit bourgeoisie. \nFor everyone who knows what it is to have a dream come to nothing. \nThe production is presented as a staged performance\, conducted by the composer\, directed by Stuart Barker\, with piano reduction of the full score. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Eight Days
DESCRIPTION:1st February 1587. Mary\, Queen of Scots\, after twenty years of captivity\, still remains imprisoned in Fotheringhay castle.\nUnbeknownst to her\, Queen Elizabeth I – her own cousin – has signed her death warrant. \nShe has only eight days left to live. \nHaunted by her past and still protesting her innocence\, in these final eight days Mary is confronted by the consequences of her decisions\, grappling with her inner demons whilst remaining devoted to her faith. \nAs she braces herself for death\, Mary\, still a queen\, deliberately sows the seeds for her own enduring legacy as martyr and icon. \nIn her end was truly her beginning. \nCombining mesmerising and evocative music by Louis Mander and a powerful and moving libretto by Louisa Petaï\, Eight Days is a one-woman opera which draws upon contemporary historical accounts and uses Mary’s own words above all. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:The Lure of... : September
DESCRIPTION:Join the team behind the independent investigative news outlet Byline Times for an entertaining evening of challenging discussion to help us understand the unprecedented times we are living in  – and why they are happening – with those with an inside track. \nThere’s no shortage of strong opinions in Britain today – what’s missing is good-faith debate. Too much of our national conversation has become performative. It seems designed to inflame rather than illuminate. \nThat’s why Byline Times launched our series of ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ events at the Cockpit in 2025. These interactive discussions have sparked genuinely unexpected and illuminating moments. \nAt a time when many of Britain’s most powerful media proprietors remain distant and unseen\, Byline Times does the opposite: we step out from behind the editorial line and into the room. \nHosted by Byline Times Editor-in-Chief Hardeep Matharu and Co-Founder Peter Jukes\, plus a wide-ranging variety of guest authors\, campaigners and thought leaders. Previous guests have included: broadcaster and academic Bonnie Greer\, journalist and activist Femi Oluwole\, novelist Jake Arnott\, Camerados founder Maff Potts\, XR and Humanity Project co-founder Clare Farrell\, author and Women’s Equality Party co-founder Catherine Mayer\, Conservative commentator Albie Amankona\, investigative journalist and author Nafeez Ahmed\, Asylum Speakers founder Jaz O’Hara\, author and broadcaster John Sweeney and many many more… \nIn addition to current affairs\, there’s also laughter\, readings\, music\, poetry – there’s even been dancing and a good old sing song round the old Joanna – every night is different! \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Krapp's Last Tape
DESCRIPTION:Peter Marinker\, known for his extensive work on BBC Radio\, his many audiobook recordings\, and his long association with Samuel Beckett’s publisher John Calder\, performs Krapp’s Last Tape. \nAt 84 and recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s\, Marinker brings decades of experience performing Beckett’s work as he returns to one of the playwright’s most demanding solo roles – with the function of memory in relation to selfhood at the heart of the production. \nIn Krapp’s Last Tape\, Beckett’s one-act monologue written in 1958\, the audience meets a man marking his birthday alone\, while listening to and reflecting on recordings he has made each year on that day. We hear a recording Krapp made at the age of 39 and within it\, his reflections on tapes made in earlier years\, as he makes what we are told is his last tape. \nThis new production will use reel-to reel recordings made by Peter the last time he played Krapp in 1983. Live in-ear prompts\, where needed\, will run alongside the play\, highlighting the relationship between memory and remembering\, cognition and re-cognition. \nFollowing his recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis\, the decision to return to Krapp’s Last Tape at this stage in his life has been a deeply personal one\, allowing Peter to bring his lived experience to Beckett’s exploration of memory and ageing\, intellect\, and intuition. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:In Her Defence - London Musical Theatre
DESCRIPTION:In Her Defence\, an original British musical comedy written by Harrison Cranfield\, will make its debut at Camden Fringe this August. Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1987\, the production follows Donna\, a fiery single mother whose life is turned upside down when she discovers her husband’s affair\, only to find herself caught in the middle of a chaotic custody battle. \nAs gossip spreads through her close-knit neighbourhood faster than the morning post\, Donna must navigate solicitors\, awkward encounters\, unexpected allies and the challenge of rebuilding her life while protecting the people she loves most. Alongside a sharp-tongued best friend and a very questionable postman\, Donna discovers that finding her voice may be the most important battle of all. \nBlending laugh-out-loud comedy with genuine emotional warmth\, In Her Defence captures the spirit of 1980s Britain through colourful characters\, sharp dialogue and an original score full of wit and heart. The musical explores themes of resilience\, friendship\, family and standing up for yourself when the world expects you to stay silent. \nSpeaking about the production\, writer Harrison Cranfield said: \n“I wanted to create a musical that feels unmistakably British: funny\, heartfelt and rooted in characters audiences can recognise and connect with. At its core\, In Her Defence is about finding strength in difficult circumstances and discovering that your voice matters\, even when everything around you is trying to drown it out.” \nPacked with memorable musical numbers\, eccentric personalities and plenty of 1980s charm\, In Her Defence promises a lively and entertaining theatrical experience. The show combines the energy of a classic British comedy with the emotional depth of a story about self-discovery and resilience\, offering audiences both laughter and heart. \nThe production is particularly suited to audiences who enjoy original British musical theatre\, character-led comedy and stories that celebrate strong female voices. Its blend of humour\, warmth and recognisable social dynamics makes it an appealing addition to the Camden Fringe programme.

SUMMARY:Eyes See Song
DESCRIPTION:Six friends. Three secrets. One yearning hope. We enter a tangled web of love\, loyalty\, shame\, and survival\, as six women discover their world isn’t what it seems. Beneath the surface of six “ordinary” lives lie stories of reproductive health struggles\, sexual violence\, and addiction — stories so familiar they could belong to us\, our friends\, our mothers. As their masks fall away\, we’re invited to recognise our own hidden truths\, tucked deep in our bodies and away from those we love most. \nThese women call us into their circle — into song\, dance\, movement\, breathwork\, and collective release\, as they fight to loosen trauma’s grip on the body. With irresistible energy and magnetic charm\, Matty\, Lala\, Laure\, Wrinkles\, Z\, and Chlo remind us healing is never a solo act. It’s messy\, communal\, vulnerable\, and profoundly human.\nIn an age when isolation is becoming the norm and intimacy outsourced to screens\, Eyes See Song insists we return to each other\, loudly\, joyfully\, in full-bodied presence. It’s two parts a warm hug from your favourite aunt\, one part your best friends shaking you into your senses\, and three parts what your nervous system has been craving. For lovers of music\, movement and fearless storytelling\, ready to face the shadows and dance in the light; Join us! We’re holding space for you. \n“Unfurling and celebrating the dimensions of women through blending spoken word\, song and movement to honour layered experiences. ***”\n— Sheleina Somani\, Everything Theatre

SUMMARY:Sunrise for the Blind
DESCRIPTION:Six years after a sold out run in the then ‘Tristan Bates Theatre’\, Lee Lomas is bringing back his 5 star play Sunrise for the Blind. If the play was relevant in 2019 it’s perhaps even more relevant now with the rise of right wing politics\, major push backs against immigration and thousands taking to the streets to fly the English flag – is there a more poignant time for this play to be resurrected? \nA raw\, naturalistic portrayal of life in a bleak North Manchester town centre\, the play explores cycles of poverty\, racism\, and young adulthood. It follows a group of youths and families as their lives intersect around gossip\, forbidden relationships\, and a tragic escalation of tensions leading to violence. The story delves into lost potential\, generational frustration\, and the suffocating nature of small-town life. \nSunrise for the Blind pulls no punches\, a familiar theme of writer\, Lee Lomas\, it promises to be an eye opening experience with plenty of light to balance out the shade. \nWriter: Lee Lomas\nDirector: Andrew Darren Elkins\nProducer: Hülya Corty \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Motopia
DESCRIPTION:“Once upon a time\, there was a forest\, where the sun and the wind and the people ran through the trees with free abandon. Welcome to Motopia!” \nA new piece of writing\, ‘Motopia’ is a musical choose-your-own adventure play where the choices of the protagonist are placed in the audience’s hands as they navigate their way through The Forest. Imagine the Fighting Fantasy books come to life\, or as a ‘New Stuff’ audience member put it\, “D&D the Musical.”\nJoin Pip as they navigate increasingly complex choices\, and the excitement\, loss and responsibility that free-will (or lack thereof) brings\, leading them to question “What do you do when you don’t know what to do?” \nThe world of Motopia is explored through a fairytale lens of childlike wonder\, with a cast of five actor-musicians\, original music and eccentric characters threaded throughout. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Darling\, I think I'm Turning Into A Chicken
DESCRIPTION:Butterfly Eye Productions’ new totally absurd and slightly horrific Extravaganza comes to Camden Fringe after its premiere at Upstairs at the Gatehouse this July.\nBorn out of lived experiences\, this darkly comedic play about generational trauma and transformation\, ‘Darling\, I think I’m turning into a Chicken’ explores what happens when loss becomes the air a family breathes. \nFlorence has everything she’s ever wanted: a fiancée\, a thriving career\, and a perfect home. But when she starts to grow feathers\, her carefully constructed life begins to unravel. As the transformation worsens—and threatens to kill her—Florence discovers she’s not alone: her estranged family are changing too. To survive\, she must confront the past she’s spent a lifetime avoiding. \nAn imaginative\, physical and text-led exploration of how illness is not only biological\, but emotional\, social and generational\, asking what it takes to break cycles of inheritance—and whether healing is ever truly possible. \nWritten and Directed by India Rose Olsen\nMusic & Lyrics by Michael Fristot & Tess McLee \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Journey to Nutopia: People’s Emergency Briefing – Climate Action Special
DESCRIPTION:Journey to Nutopia returns for a one-off screening and panel. \nA lot’s happened since we launched Journey to Nutopia back in 2018. Our founding motto – ‘refuting the inevitability of global dystopia’ isn’t getting any easier\, but that’s all the more reason to look for the places in our doom-flooded news environment where The Work is happening – especially around the climate crisis. \nThe first Journey to Nutopia was a three-day programme of talks\, spoken word and acid house music as part of Birmingham’s Lunar Festival in 2018. Authors\, activists\, artists\, academics\, psychedelic researchers\, poets and acid house DJs came together to boost ‘positive future narratives that refute the inevitability of a global dystopia’. It was a celebration of the DIY aesthetic\, connectivity\, community\, touching grass\, joy as resistance – all that good stuff which we will need to draw on as our weather\, our politics\, and our shared ‘reality’ becomes fractured\, wilder and more unpredictable. \nWe are taking part in the countrywide screening initiative for the People’s Emergency Briefing documentary – a film that lays out the facts of Where We Are\, but also the next steps we can take together to get our governments to grasp this crispy old nettle and bring more urgency to mitigating the incoming mass extinction event of our age. The briefing is currently being shown all across the UK – from church halls to trade union meetings. It brings together the science and national implications in one compelling film\, designed for communities to watch together with their MP and other local decision makers to see the same evidence – on the record – as those briefed in Westminster. The film will be followed by what we are pretty confident will be a lively panel discussion about what WE can do beyond the Bag-for-Life of it all\, to be part of the solution/surviving what comes next and not just hopeless witnesses to the distraction and destruction of the natural world happening on our screens and increasingly in our lived experience. \nConfirmed panel guests include: \nDeborah Curtis – The Great Imagining\nSarah Corbett – The Craftivist Collective\nJami – London School of Solar Punk \nThere’s no time to waste. As the film shows\, we have made some progress since the XR protests and Net Zero promises but we need to accelarate not take our foot off the proverbial gas. It’s time to come together\, raise our voices and demand our governments take the kind of bold action required to make lasting change. But it’s not just about them; it’s also about us! It’s also time to bring a bit of 21st century\, solar punk\, craftivist\, DIY\, Make it Make Sense energy into proceedings… \nJoin us! \nCo-hosted by Richard Norris & Michelle Olley. \nDate: Sunday 24th August\, 7pm – Live at The Cockpit\nTickets: Pay what you can – £3 / £5 / £10\nWebsite: https://www.thecockpit.org.uk/show/journey_to_nutopia_3

SUMMARY:Church Street Goes Wild
DESCRIPTION:Imagine if nature reclaimed the triangle on Church Street! Come and join local theatre makers and artists to create a world where Church Street goes wild across August. \nWe’re taking part in Westminster City Council’s Inside Out outdoor arts festival this summer. The festival showcases fun and unique cultural events across the city and best of all\, events are free for everybody to enjoy! \nFor the first three Sundays in August\, The Cockpit will be hosting creative making days outside in the triangle on Church Street. They are for everyone of any age to come together and build a temporary art installation\, using arts and crafts to make plants\, animals and fungi. Each Sunday it will grow and take up more of the space and then be cleared away at the end of the day. On the fourth Sunday\, this will culminate in a short physical theatre performance that will take place in the community made art installation on the triangle. \n  \nFor more details click HERE

SUMMARY:The Boy in the Ocean
DESCRIPTION:The Boy in the Ocean is a raw and intimate new play exploring the aftermath of sexual assault through fragmented memory\, movement\, and storytelling. Performed primarily as a one-person piece\, with a movement ensemble in support\, the play follows a young man as he attempts to make sense of his memories and navigate what comes after trauma. \nBlending naturalistic dialogue with physical theatre\, the piece moves between past and present\, reflecting the often disjointed reality of memory and healing. \nDeveloped from personal experience and taking inspiration from other true stories\, the play approaches difficult subject matter with honesty\, contributing to conversations around male experiences of sexual assault that are often underrepresented on stage. \nContent warnings: Themes of sexual assault\, trauma\, and strong language.

SUMMARY:Dance Again
DESCRIPTION:Dance Again follows Noa through one night at a music festival — a psychedelic celebration of love and unity that collapses into a massacre. \nThe play explores an unfolding terror attack from the perspective of a brain under the influence of mind-expanding drugs. Told through the distorted lens of LSD and guided by a live DJ who sculpts the atmosphere in real time\, the play oscillates between ecstatic peaks and traumatic episodes\, fracturing Noa’s reality until she can no longer tell trip from truth. All while confronting the vanishing of her partner\, her friends\, the very idea the dance floor represents. \nWhat follows is a reckoning with irreversible loss and the question of whether joy can ever be reclaimed. \nBased on real events\, Dance Again is a love letter to rave and festival culture\, and a confrontation with terror choosing it as battlefield — a memorial\, a rave\, and a refusal. \nHow can you dance again? \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Dünyada
DESCRIPTION:“I’m not from here.” \nA man arrives with a suitcase\, a camera\, and a voice that seems sad somehow. \nHe speaks of homeland\, parents\, lost loves\, strange customs… the narrative unravels into a mosaic of unfinished thoughts and philosophical detours; A microphone picks up his distorted speech; A camera captures his eyes\, lips\, old photos\, debris\, and you… too. Images appear behind him\, what it means to be seen? \nThis August\, internationally acclaimed actor and director Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu brings his visceral\, high-intensity solo performance Dünyada to Camden Fringe. Reimagining Will Eno’s celebrated monologue Title and Deed\, the production arrives in London fresh from Istanbul’s underground theatre scene\, offering an evocative exploration of migration\, identity drift\, and the fragile necessity of being witnessed in a digital age. \nDünyada\, meaning “in the world”\, is a formally adventurous solo theatre that tears the fabric of one-person play through cinematic camera work\, visual extension and sound design. Nuroğlu performs a dual role as both actor and live cinematographer\, walking the thin line between the mundane duties of keeping things going and the emotional disorder of remembering (like all of us). In a raw\, technical struggle\, he manages lighting and soundscapes in real-time\, creating a parallax between his physical body and his digital ghost. The production transforms the audience from mere spectators into active material\, as the camera turns to film the watchers\, projecting their silent presence into the heart of the monologue. \nIntimate\, funny\, unsettling\, and deeply\, deeply human. \nDünyada. A salute to the progress in life\, to being here\, now\, right now. On stage. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Where Are We Going With This? - The Cockpit
DESCRIPTION:Why would two strangers sitting on a bench at 2am just start talking? \nThis touching debut follows two students and their struggles to open up to one another\, exploring the awkward comedy and profound intimacy that can occur in those one-off conversations with a stranger. They flirt\, fight\, and fumble along a tightrope walk of social norms and personal boundaries\, discussing their outlook on the future\, their mental health struggles\, and\, eventually\, why they ended up on a bench in the middle of the night. \nHe is a quick-witted and jovial pessimist.
