SUMMARY:The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady in Song
DESCRIPTION:Acapella folk group Brooomdasher celebrate the 150th birthday of former Chelsea resident and Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady author Edith Holden with a poignant and entertaining folk musical at Keats Library Garden\, Keats Grove\, London on Saturday 3 July at 2 pm. \nThe show features classic folk songs as Broomdasher take the audience on a musical journey through Edith’s year\, captured in her extraordinary 1906 diary. Critics called it: “Traditional Folk meets Edwardian Eco-Warrior. Fantastic!”; “Inspired Harmonies”; “Superbly Engaging and Heartwarming” “Brilliantly Entertaining” https://youtu.be/_KNJonIVJ8g. \nThe book was a worldwide phenomenon when published in 1977\, Edith’s illustrations and words creating an exhilarating journey through the seasons. Millions of homes still have kitchenware\, soft furnishings\, porcelain\, diaries\, albums\, and notelets featuring pictures from the diary. \nBroomdasher met at Cecil Sharp House\, and all their recordings are in the British Museum’s National Sound Archive as “an outstanding example of grassroots traditional folk music today”. \nSadly\, Edith died following her passion for nature and the countryside. She drowned in a backwater of the Thames when she fell in a while\, reaching out to pluck chestnut buds overhanging the water\, aged 49 in 1920. \nhttp://www.broomdasher.com\nProceeds to the Hampstead School of Art and Keats Community Library. Tickets are £10 from the Library and online at WeGotTickets.\nFor Further Information Contact: John Palmer at 07881 738029 or broomdasher@btinternet.com
