DESCRIPTION:Rihab Azar on oud\, Dudley Phillips on acoustic bass and Ant Romero on percussion.\n\n\n\nI like to warmly invite you to my trio’s London debut concert as part of Embark: Festival of journeys\, stories and migrations. We will play a selection of our favourite tunes from the Middle East and North Africa. \n\n\n\nThe concert will be opened by Yugal Gurung – A dreamy singer-songwriter fusing folk-pop with rousing Nepalese vocals. \n\n\n\nDoors 6:30pm\, Starts 7pm\, Finishes 9:30pm \n\n\n\nTicketed evening concert with one interval – seated. \n\n\n\nRIHAB AZAR \n\n\n\nSyrian oud virtuoso Rihab Azar was born to a musical family in the Syrian city Homs. Her father made her first oud and started teaching her when she was seven. In 2014\, She became the first woman oudist to perform\, accompanied by the Syrian National Orchestra for Arabic Music. \n\n\n\nIn 2016 Arts Council England recognised her as a musician of “Exceptional Promise”\, which allowed her to continue her professional pursuit in the UK under the “Migrant Talent” scheme. \n\n\n\nRihab has toured internationally since 2008 and has had memorable collaborations with Cantata Dramatica\, London Sinfonietta\, The Third Orchestra\, Stile Antico and soon will be touring with Theatre of the Voices\, DK. She has performed at iconic spaces in the UK and abroad\, such as the Royal Opera House\, Barbican Centre\, Southbank Centre and Wigmore Hall. In addition\, Rihab has been increasingly writing original music for solo oud and various interdisciplinary contexts combining visual arts\, storytelling\, theatre and radio. \n\n\n\nThe Trio Can be Booked for Performances at Your Event from Music for London
