SUMMARY:Longing for Belonging - Film Screening and Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Do you feel modern life is isolating? \nAre you interested in knowing what living in a thriving community looks like? \nThen come meet film-maker and author Helen iles who has travelled the world with the same questions\, and hear what she’s found out along the way. \nCurious about the human mechanisms which support communities to thrive\, Helen spends time with residents of intentional communities and co-housing projects. On her journey\, she encounters the Australian Aboriginal way of dadirri\, which speaks of a practice of deep listening – to land\, to ourselves and to each other. \nShe will also be reading from her new book “Hiraeth” about her journey through communities on opposite sides of the planet from Wales to Melbourne to Spain and reflects on the path in front of her as well as the path behind. \nShe will be available afterwards for a discussion and Q&A. \nThis is a pre-launch of Hiraeth which will not be available till 2020. You will be able to purchase a copy on the night and have it signed by Helen. The book is currently still in production\, more information will be available soon. We’re a social group interested in finding out more about communal living (whatever form that comes in) who also want to meet like-minded people. \nThis month the topic for discussion is “Why are we interested in living differently”.
