Being hands on in important issues such as exploring female masculinity\, stereotypes and cultural projections of Chinese/Asian identity with interdisciplinary performance\, moving image and experimental sound pieces makes up his work. \nBe immersed in the performance of a world that explores ancient mythological and contemporary queer longing. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy Chinatown through the digital eyes. Download the app and tour around Chinatown and see Chinatown like you have never seen it before. The Chinese Art Now and artist Donald Shek has prepared a fun experience for you. From digital sculptures\, video installations to artist tour. \nGet to know Chinatown more on the unique digitized tour.  Interesting happenings will be explained. Donald will share the layered histories of the area\, the Chinese community and the Chinese diaspora\, exploring the themes of identity\, cultural symbolism and myth. \nThe tour takes audience members through each of the digital installations from the early beginnings of the creation myth in Chinese mythology to the present day. Augmented Chinatown will bring new light to these stories and their links to other cultures such as the Tower of Babel\, Prometheus and the Elysian Fields. \n  \nThe tour will be accessible via an iPhone app\, available to download here – https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/augmented-chinatown/id1445009007?mt=8 \nDue to the size of the app (587mb) it is recommend that you download the app on WIFI prior to joining the tour. SUMMARY:CAN Festival 2019 - Lao Can Impression 老殘印象
DESCRIPTION:Let the rhythm take you to another world. Through an ancient culture that have lived through this time. The Concert Theatre and CAN present a re-imagining of the concert form\, interweaving music by Debussy with a classic Chinese tale\, ‘The Travels of Lao Can’ (老殘遊記). \nAll the way from Taiwan\, the production team is based on Lao Can Impression to explore the cultural exchange between east and west by combining Chinese and western approaches to music and drama. \nBe entertained as the performers fuse beautiful culture and modernization into their pieces. Watch as the musicians highlight the eastern influences in Debussy’s music while two actors tell Liu’s story about westernization in China. \n \nThe piece is directed and written by An-Ting Chang (Artistic Director of Concert Theatre and Chinese Arts Now)\, with the devisers and performers Hsu Hua-Chien and Chi-I Chang\, three concert musicians\, Li-Chi Chiang (piano)\, Yun-Ju Chen (flute) and Jen-Hsin Kung (cello) and scenography by Wang Jing. \nFeaturing music by Debussy including La mer\, Images\, Cello Sonata. \nCAN Festival’s 2019 music programme is generously supported by The Fenton Arts Trust. \nTickets £13/ 11 – BOOK TICKETS \n
