SUMMARY:Gathering Wands: Walk and Carving Workshop with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Centred on Harri Harrison’s sculptural Wands series in the group exhibition The House at IMT Gallery\, this workshop invites a shared evening of wandering\, foraging and making. \nThe workshop begins with a twilight walk through Victoria Park\, led by multimedia artist Harri Harrison. Moving along desire paths\, the group will allow themselves to wander off the obvious routes\, gathering found natural materials along the way. These paths offer a subtle\, gentle form of resistance\, a space for slower attention and observation. \nReturning to IMT Gallery\, we will gather our foraged materials and create our own wands using a combination of carving and binding techniques. The session concludes with a guided meditation and meditative drawing exercise. Together we will explore what it means to hold found natural materials\, noticing how our focus shifts between objects\, ourselves\, and the connections they hold.  \nNo previous experience needed\, and natural materials and tools will be provided. Feel free to bring your preferred drawing materials and any found items you would like to work with\, such as stones\, sticks\, shells\, dried flowers\, wood\, or string for binding. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking\, as paths may be slightly muddy. If you have any questions or specific access needs\, please feel free to get in touch. \nAbout Harri Harrison: \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities.  \nHarri has over 13 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nGathering Wands is open to all — wanderers\, makers\, quiet explorers\, and anyone curious to slow down\, attend to the everyday\, hold attention\, and reflect through making.  \nSpaces are limited. Reserve your place for an evening of quiet attention.

SUMMARY:and we walk: A Silent Meditative Walk with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Connect deeply with urban surroundings through silence\, mantra\, and light projections on a gentle dusk walk along the Regent’s Canal. \nYou are warmly invited to join artist Harri Harrison for and we walk\, a silent\, meditative journey at twilight from IMT Gallery through Broadway Market\, towards Victoria Park. Experience the city anew\, guided by quiet reflection and illuminated mantras that transform everyday urban spaces into opportunities to witness and reflect upon personal journeys and the spaces we inhabit. \nAs we walk\, Harri’s personal mantras will softly illuminate local landmarks and ordinary city furnishings\, encouraging us to reconsider and reconnect with our shared urban environment. These ephemeral projections stem from Harri’s ongoing body of work\, repeat after me\, created using handheld text projectors and cyanotype prints. Harri’s toolbox of grounding mantras invite us to explore deeper connections with one another\, the natural world\, and our evolving concept of ‘home’. \nWe will begin our evening at IMT Gallery with a grounding meditation and herbal tea\, listening deeply to the heart of Bethnal Green\, before stepping out to witness the city through fresh eyes. The walk covers approximately 3 km along the canal towpath. Please reach out if you have any questions or specific access needs. \nThis workshop offers a welcoming space to meet new people\, enjoy gentle exercise\, and encourage conversations around home\, communities\, and the environment. We invite you to slow down and connect with overlooked local spaces and create personal mantras for personal growth. All welcome\, no experience necessary. \nAbout Harri Harrison \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. SUMMARY:Rendlesham
DESCRIPTION:A coach trip from London to Rendlesham Forest with audio commentary\, pub lunch and full guided tour of the mysterious 1980 UFO sightings. \n\n\n\n\nReturn trip on a luxury coach from London (pick-up and drop-off near Stratford Station)\n\n\n\nFull audio narrative of the Rendlesham Forest incident by the writers of The Thin Veil of London and Bluebird\n\n\n\nPub lunch\n\n\n\nGuided walk around Rendlesham Forest by Robert Kingham\, presenter of Pagan London\n\n\n\n\nThe truth may never be known about the incidents that took place in Rendlesham Forest in December 1980. They have since begun to drift into the mists of folklore\, and the mythological fog of war\, and have been described as ‘Britain’s Roswell’. \n\n\n\nBut something truly unusual did happen. A large number of United States Air Force personnel from the nearby twin bases at RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters witnessed phenomena that none of them have ever been able to explain. The official memo spoke of ‘unexplained lights’ – UFOs was too emotive a term – but\, as later emerged\, there was much more to it than that. \n\n\n\nEither\, around fifty military personnel in command of a nuclear-armed airbase suffered a series of hallucinations. Or: in those woods\, they saw something. \n\n\n\nWe have created an experience that takes you on a trip from London to the silent beauty of the Suffolk woods\, from the present day to the height of the Cold War\, from the everyday to the uncanny. Whether you want to believe\, or you are resolutely sceptical\, within the remarkable events we find a story of our own fears and compulsions.

SUMMARY:Drury Lane – guided walk in London
DESCRIPTION:A guided walk larded with street theatre\, songs and pub stops\, exploring the rich history of one of London’s most colourful quarters. \nDrury Lane is a guided walking tour from Minimum Labyrinth. \nRobert Kingham (presenter of Pagan London) explores the rich cultural history of one of London’s most colourful\, creative and dangerous quarters. Squalor\, crime\, politics and plague provide the scenery for a teeming cast of rakes and poets\, actors and gamblers\, playwrights and pickpockets\, Freemasons and highwaymen\, engravers and compositors\, gunpowder plotters and pornographers\, butchers and beadles\, judges and jail-breakers\, suffragettes and whores\, in a story that stretches from Anglo-Saxon settlers on the shores of the Thames to the starched pomp of the British Empire. \nWe promise you a bawdy\, boozy bacchanal\, bursting with everything you have come to expect from master storytellers Minimum Labyrinth: obscure factlets\, dramatic sweeps of history\, dark mysteriousness\, musical protrusions and theatrical surprises. \nStarting locations vary due to opening times\, so we will email you two days before\, but it will always be in a pub or café near the north end of Drury Lane. We will make two further stops for a drink along the route\, and end at a fourth pub in the same area.

SUMMARY:Women and Walking: Wanderers and Psychogeographical Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:Women walk. Kerri Andrews discusses her book\, ‘Wanderers’\, about ten women who have found walking essential to their sense of themselves. Sonia Overall takes the path of the lone woman walker\, seeking out ‘thin places’ where past and present collide and where new ways of living might begin. \nWanderers: Walking Women \nKerri Andrews discusses her book\, Wanderers\, about ten women over the past three hundred years who have found walking essential to their sense of themselves\, as people and as writers. Wanderers trace their footsteps from eighteenth-century parson’s daughter Elizabeth Carter – who desired nothing more than to be taken for a vagabond in the wilds of southern England – to modern walker-writers such as Nan Shepherd and Cheryl Strayed. For each\, walking was integral\, whether it was rambling for miles across the Highlands\, like Sarah Stoddart Hazlitt\, or pacing novels into being\, as Virginia Woolf did around Bloomsbury.Offering a beguiling view of the history of walking\, Wanderers guides us through the different ways of seeing – of being – articulated by these ten path-finding women. \nKerri is Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Edge Hill University. She writes about literary history\, particularly untold or forgotten histories\, and has published widely on women’s writing. Her book\, Wanderers: A History of Wanderers: A History of Women Walking\, is published by Reaktion Books. Kerri is also one of the leaders of Women In The Hills\, an Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project aimed at exploring the factors enabling and inhibiting women’s access to upland landscapes. The project brings together people from all areas of walking\, mountaineering\, land access\, and management to drive change in women’s access and experiences. \nPsychogeographical Pilgrimage – Seeking Thin Places \nSonia Overall takes to the old pilgrim roads\, navigating a route from Canterbury to Walsingham via London and her hometown of Ely. Vivid in her evocation of a landscape of ancient chapels\, ruined farms\, and suburban follies\, Overall’s secular pilgrimage elevates the ordinary\, collecting roadside objects – feathers\, a bingo card\, a worn penny – as relics. Facing injury and interruption\, she takes the path of the lone woman walker\, seeking out ‘thin places’ where past and present collide and where new ways of living might begin. \nSonia Overall is a writer\, psychogeographer\, and Senior Lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University\, where she runs the MA in Creative Writing. Her publications include the novels A Likeness and The Realm of Shells\, and the poetry collection The Art of Walking. She is the founder of the Women Who Walk network of walking artists and academics and an occasional musician\, mummer\, and puppeteer. Her book Heavy Time is out from Penning in the Margins. She is the leader of the #DistanceDrift Sunday morning lockdown (and beyond) walks.

SUMMARY:Guided Walks London - The Unburied Corner of London
DESCRIPTION:Guided Walks London – The Unburied Corner of London\nA guided walk to uncover the layers of history that lie beneath the Museum of London. \nThe Unburied Corner of London is Minimum Labyrinth’s second new guided walking tour for 2021. \nWhen the Museum of London moves to its new home in Smithfield\, the existing 1970s Museum building on London Wall will be redeveloped. In June 2021\, Contemporary Art Society\, on behalf of the Corporation of London\, commissioned Robert Kingham (presenter of Pagan London) to lead a new walk delving into its layers of history. The walk does not go into the Museum itself\, but rather around and under it: and the stories\, buildings\, archaeology\, and people whose lives it has touched are every bit as rich and effusive as the collections within. \nOn this two-and-a-half-hour walk\, you will encounter the lost alleys of Barnaby Rudge\, the Infirmary for the Relief of the Poor Afflicted with Diseases of the Rectum\, modernist dreamers\, the brimstone doctrine of the Aldersgate meeting houses. \nIncluded in the guided walk would be learning about the sieges of London\, the well-water that cures drunkenness\, the biggest fire between 1666 and 1940\, the hermit of Cripplegate\, and the oldest Jewish cemetery in England.
