DESCRIPTION:Multi-award-winning opera star Fatma Said performs music inspired by tango and jazz in railway station-turned club\, OSLO Hackney. \n\n\n\nFatma’s show will draw on material from her latest genre-defying release\, Kaleidoscope\, with a programme focusing on tango-inspired music and jazz. She will be accompanied by bandoneon legend Julian Rowlands and award-winning composer and pianist Harry Baker. \n\n\n\nThe Egyptian soprano blazed onto the classical scene with her multi-award-winning debut on Warner Classics\, El Nour\, honoured with two Awards apiece from Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine in 2021. \n\n\n\nHer latest release\, Kaleidoscope\, boasted a cross-cultural and genre-defying programme and showcased Said’s passion for dance. The album featured works from opera\, operetta\, film and pop\, sung in no less than six languages – French\, German\, English\, Spanish\, Italian and Arabic. It was awarded a Presto Music Award 2022 earlier this month.

DESCRIPTION:Tango Taster! \n\n\n\nSaturday 1 October 2022 \n\n\n\nTime 2pm – 5pm \n\n\n\nA three hour workshop for absolute or recent beginners \n\n\n\nThis is the ideal (and really fun) way to start or consolidate learning Argentine tango\, focusing on the basic steps and good technique from the outset. \n\n\n\nNo partner required.. You don’t need special dance shoes for the workshop but please wear something supportive with a smooth non-stick sole (such as leather or plastic but not trainers\, chunky boots or rubber soled footwear) as you’ll be pivoting on the ball of your foot and sliding the foot along the floor. With clothing\, just wear something comfortable and casual that you can move about in.
