Bernardi’s will serve modern Italian dishes alongside summer beverages\, whilst Basque grill Lurra will be cooking its renowned beef pintxo on its BBQ. London’s top vegetarian restaurant\, The Gate\, will prepare a selection of dishes to celebrate its 30th birthday\, and complementary Corsican pizza slices will be served up at SANDY’s. Philglas & Swiggot will be selling wine\, there will be plenty of drink options at The Grazing Goat pop-up bar and Zetter Townhouse will serve cocktails and mocktails from its eccentric lounge bar\, Seymour’s Parlour whilst sharing the story of wicked Uncle Seymour. \nFor the first time\, the Street Party will welcome restaurants from nearby Chiltern Street Blandford Street and Dorset Street\, where Clarette will host ‘female wine-tales’ with tastings of wines produced solely by female producers and served by Head Sommelier Natalia Kozlowska. Ravinder Bhogal’s Jikoni will serve delicious and flavourful light bites throughout the evening. \nFor one night only\, the much-loved boutiques on the street will also be offering special promotions; London Grace will be hosting a ticketed manicure event with drinks and beauty talks. SUMMARY:ANIMAL FARM - Outdoor Theatre for Older Children (11+) and Adults
DESCRIPTION:“All animals are equal\, but some animals are more equal than others.”\nThe second presentation in our spectacular Summer Season of Outdoor Theatre is a new adaptation of George Orwell’s masterful satire of totalitarianism. \nFirst published in 1945\, Orwell’s stunning allegory of the corruption of the perfect society tells the story of the animals of Manor Farm. Inspired by visionary pig Old Major\, their dream of a new\, self-managed system is quickly soured by the innate greed of those who take power – in this case\, the pig Napoleon and his sycophantic sidekick Squealer. Only Snowball\, the idealistic pig who led the Rebellion\, appears to cling to Old Major’s dream\, but his rivals have other ideas… \nTold with the clarity of a fairytale but exploring dark themes and comic exaggeration\, our production is faithful to the original book – with a few twists\, of course! Expect powerful physical theatre performances\, stylised designs and costumes\, original music by Paul Tornbohm\, and occasional audience participation. This highly imaginative show will take you on a journey into the dark heart of man – and pig! \nPlease note that due to its themes\, this production is not suitable for young children. However\, those aged 11+ are very welcome\, though parental guidance is advised. \nOur summer shows are always top-rated\, so we advise early booking to avoid disappointment. Tickets may be purchased in advance online or at Kirkdale Bookshop in person. Any remaining seats will be available at the door 30 mins before the show start time.

SUMMARY:Around the World in 80 Days - Outdoor Theatre - Sydenham
DESCRIPTION:London 1872. Phileas Fogg is a stickler for timekeeping\, so when members of his gentlemen’s club wager that he cannot travel around the world in just 80 days\, he sets out to prove them wrong. \nAccompanied by his faithful French manservant Passepartout – in reality\, a young\, female inventor in disguise! – Fogg must traverse numerous exotic locales if he is to win the bet. All the while\, he is pursued by the very dogged detective Inspector Fix… \nThis promenade production will take you on a global quest to multiple locations – so be prepared to move throughout the show. Featuring fantastical steampunk stylings\, plus original musical numbers by Paul Tornbohm – performed with a live accompaniment by New Orleans jazz band Red Hot & Blue – this promises to be Spontaneous Productions’ biggest and boldest show yet! \nYou are very welcome to bring a blanket to sit on\, though we discourage bringing picnics and buggies as you will be asked to move regularly (you are very welcome to picnic in the park before or after the show!) Folding chairs can be provided for those who need them and ask those seated to sit near the back.

SUMMARY:Big Summer Kick-Off
DESCRIPTION:Quins to Kick-Off Summer at Twickenham for crucial Premiership clash \nDefending Premiership Champions Harlequins host new festival-themed club rugby event on May 21 at Twickenham Stadium \nSummer vibes\, brilliant rugby\, music and entertainment are coming to Twickenham Stadium on May 21! Harlequins have launched a new event at Twickenham Stadium to start this summer\, building on the unprecedented demand for tickets to see Harlequins play. Every league match at The Stoop is sold out for the English champions this season. \nThe Gallagher Premiership tie between Harlequins and Gloucester Rugby on Saturday\, May 21 will be played at Twickenham Stadium\, 15:00 kick-off. The match is the penultimate round of the season\, and with both sides battling for places in the coveted top four play-off spots\, the game could be crucial.\nThe event themed the ‘Big Summer Kick-Off’ will feature festival-themed entertainment and activities across the day\, including a significant headline entertainment act. \nThe famous player ‘walkover’ will again enable local supporters to roar the team from The Stoop to Twickenham stadium. They will also get to welcome the return of the 2012 Premiership winning team\, ten years to the day of their famous triumph at Twickenham stadium.\nThere will also be the opportunity for local community rugby clubs and schools to get involved and play on the pitch at The Stoop\, Craneford Way and Twickenham Stadium on the day. \nHarlequins CEO Laurie Dalrymple said: “We can’t wait to get back to Twickenham and play in front of our supporters and community again – it has undoubtedly proved a happy hunting ground for us recently\, and the advantage we get from being roared on by a packed house of Quins supporters cannot be underestimated. We have won 8 of our 11 matches at Twickenham in the last ten years and lost just once.\n“We have sold out every one of our Home Gallagher Premiership matches this season\, and we wanted to give the maximum number of supporters the chance to come along to see the match.” \nThe event will be themed as a summer festival with various activities for families and adults across the day – from The Stoop stadium to the Twickenham West Fan Village and then inside the stadium bowl. The West Fan Village will offer a great festival atmosphere of craft beers\, BBQ\, live entertainment and fun for families\, with the fairground rides all included in the price. \nDalrymple added: “We have learnt a great deal from 13 years of Big Game events at Twickenham\, and we hope to bring the best bit of a high-profile rugby match and entertainment for all the family to this fixture. It will certainly feel very different to our winter fixture\, and the ability to enjoy the afternoon sunshine and bring friends and family to Twickenham for such good value is an opportunity we know our supporters will be keen to enjoy after so many fans have missed out on tickets to The Stoop this season.” \nThe Club note that the event day is outside the regular season for the Allianz Premier 15s\, and at this point\, it is not clear if Harlequins Women will be playing. However\, should Harlequins qualify with Home advantage for the Semi-Finals of the league\, we intend to work with all relevant stakeholders to review if the match could be switched to Twickenham stadium. \nTickets are available on Harlequins’ official website and range from £19.50 for Junior tickets and £29.50 for Adults.\nFor more information and purchase of tickets\, please visit: https://www.eticketing.co.uk/harlequins \nTimings\n08:00 Community activity at The Stoop and Craneford way\n12:00 Twickenham gates open\n13:45 Men’s team walk over\n14:25 Main act performance\n15:00 Harlequins v Gloucester KO\n16:35 Full Time – Entertainment on West Fan Village Stage

SUMMARY:Velvet Society – المجتمع المخملي: Power and Glamour in 90s Damascus\, Syria
DESCRIPTION:With Velvet Society\, we strive to empower Syrian women and culture: it is an exhibition displaying the creative acts of survival in fashion and fabric of two Syrian women\, civil engineer Raghad Mardini and Artist Heba Al-Akkad. The exhibition is in conjunction with Refugee Week. We have also organised a series of interactive events that will complement the exhibition\, including two workshops\, one artist-led tour of the exhibition\, one live panel and one webinar.\n. \n\n\n\nAbout The Exhibition\n\n\n\n\nLitehouse Gallery is honoured to present Velvet Society\, an exhibition displaying the creative acts of survival in fashion and fabric of two Syrian women\, civil engineer Raghad Mardini and artist Heba Al-Akkad. The 90s fashion collection of Mardini\, emanating from the wealthy and powerful class of the self-styled “velvet society” prominent in 90s Syria\, will be juxtaposed with a range of vibrant artworks made in fabric and fibre by Heba Al-Akkad. A powerful dialogue will be established between these collections\, to expose a Damascus of the 90s dominated by complexes of glamour and power\, at once joyful yet troubled\, wielded both by and against the women in question.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe exhibition centres itself around the stories of these two Syrian Muslim women. From differing backgrounds\, they\, as refugees from the Syrian uprising\, struck up a friendship founded on a mutual interest in creativity within visual arts. Viewers will bear witness to their testimonies of liberation from religious and patriarchal violence. Photographs\, art objects and items of fashion are displayed to invigorate a commentary on feminism\, female freedom and Syrian history\, linked by the medium of textiles.\n\n\n\n\n\nProf. Janis Jefferies\, Emeritus Professor at Goldsmiths University\, has explained the salience of clothes in this exhibition:\n\n\n\n\nClothing carries powerful signs of non-verbal communication. It covers us\, it represents individual identities that can be played with\, disrupted and challenge what we do in our everyday lives\, both physically and sexually. If we are displaced or exiled from our homes or driven out by war\, what we wear changes. In this exhibition we see how two Muslim women become friends. They connect through art\, through their different relationship with material; a veil is worn\, designer labels are displayed. Photographs act as documents; new objects are made.\n\n\n\n\nBy bringing these stories to UK audiences in a seductive yet forceful exhibition\, fashion devotees and art lovers alike will explore the political nature of clothing\, how it shapes the representation of women in fashion\, society and art. Beliefs about Middle Eastern women will be challenged and a broader and richer recent Syrian history will emerge.\n\n\n\n\n\nHeba Al-Akkad was born in Damascus in 1981. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University 2006. She now lives and works in Gothenburg\, Sweden\, where she has been able to escape the cycle of familial violence and abuse that she suffered since girlhood. She has had solo shows across Europe and the Middle East. Litehouse Gallery has commissioned work from Al-Akkad on themes of self-identity and dress.\n\n\n\n\n\nRaghad Mardini\, on the other hand\, found herself inducted into the “velvet society”\, a figurative term for a class involved in high business and power in Syria during the 90s. Photographs from Mardini’s archive will give visual evidence of the velvet society\, which\, after many years of negotiating its excesses and its alienating demands\, she finally decided to reject. These photographs will be shown alongside a fashion collection supplied by western designers including Dior\, Versace\, Mugler\, Chanel\, Galliano\, YSL\, Alaia as well as Syrian designer Nicola Khoury\, all of which Mardini wore during her time within the velvet society. The exhibition will not just highlight the vibrancy of those times and the relentless glamour demanded in the velvet society\, but will look deeper into how female sexuality was weaponised in the game of politics and money.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an exhibition about how\, in 90s Damascus\, fabric dazzled\, lured\, sheltered\, bound\, concealed\, and\, as time wore on\, changed.\n\n.\n\n\n\n\nProgramme of Events\n\n\n\n\nAlongside the exhibition\, we are organising a series of events ranging from workshops and live panels. Many Syrian artists who had fled to Lebanon were unable to continue their practice due to trauma and financial hardship. At ARA\, for a month\, they had bed\, board\, space\, freedom\, and all the materials needed to enable them to make art again. ARA also curated exhibitions and performances worldwide.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nEmail info@litehousegallery.co.uk\n\n\n\n\n\nWebsite www.litehousegallery.co.uk\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline Shop www.litehousegalleryshop.co.uk/\n\n\n\n\n\nPhone +44 7833 700 984\n\n.\n\n\n\n\n\nQuick-links www.linktr.ee/litehousegallery\n\n\n\n\n\nInstagram www.instagram.com/litehousegallery\n\n\n\n\n\nFacebook www.facebook.com/litehousegallery\n\n\n\n\n\nTwitter www.twitter.com/Litehousegalery\n\n.\n\n\n\n\nExhibition Information\n\n\n\n\n.\n\nExhibition\n\n\n\n\n\nVelvet Society – المجتمع المخملي: Power and Glamour in 90s Damascus\n\n\n\n\n\n.\n\nPresented by\n\n\n\n\n\nLitehouse Gallery\n\n\n\n\n\nwww.litehousegallery.co.uk\n\n\n\n\n\n.\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\nP21 Gallery (Kings Cross)\n\n\n\n\n\n21-27 Chalton Street\, London NW1 1JD\, UK\n\n\n\n\n\nwww.p21.gallery\n\n\n\n\n\n.\n\nDates\n\n\n\n\n\n23rd June – 23rd July\n\n\n\n\n\n.\n\nOpening Hours\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, Thursday & Friday: 12 – 6pm\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday: 12 – 8pm\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday: 12 – 4pm\n\n\n\n\n\n.\n\nEntry is free. No appointment necessary. SUMMARY:Ghana Party in the Park
DESCRIPTION:The world is now coming to Africa!” proclaimed the Guardian in a recent article on the global popularity of Africa’s most exciting cultural export: Afrobeats. Beyond the music\, demand for African food is also skyrocketing worldwide. For those looking for an authentic African experience\, London’s Ghana Party in the Park Festival is just the ticket! Dance to afrobeats\, feast on traditional cuisines and admire spectacular Ghanaian costumes\, all for as little as £20! \n\n\n\nHeld in Enfield’s Trent Park\, the annual outdoor festival will be attended by a crowd of 10\,000\, making it the world’s biggest Ghanian event outside of Ghana\, attracting overseas visitors from Europe\, the USA\, Canada and of course\, Ghana itself. \n\n\n\nAfrobeats has become one of the most beloved music genres across the globe\, with artists such as US superstar Drake and British grime artist Dave featuring on chart-topping afrobeat anthems. Whilst organisers remain tight-lipped about this year’s music line-up until the official announcement in June\, the event guarantees big names and fresh sounds\, with Mr Eazi\, Tion Wayne\, and Chip having graced the Ghana Party in the Park stage in recent years. \n\n\n\nAnd\, of course\, no Ghanaian festival would be complete without food. Lots of it! From Jollof and suya to bofro and sobolo\, Ghana Party in the Park promises the very best in West African cuisine\, on top of which\, the UK’s leading World Food brand Tropical Sun will be sampling their delicious snacks and drinks at their stand. Our recommendation: Tropical Sun’s world-famous Coconut Peanuts\, which are quickly becoming one of the most popular snacks in West Africa! \n\n\n\nTickets are priced from £20 and are available from the usual outlets\, including Shoobs and Eventbrite. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, including line-up announcements\, visit the Ghana Party in the Park website – www.gpitp.com

SUMMARY:CONFLUENCE PRESENTS SAYTEK LIVE
DESCRIPTION:BOOK NOW: https://ra.co/events/1549562 \n\n\n\nCONFLUENCE PRESENTS SAYTEK (LIVE) \n\n\n\nBASING HOUSE \n\n\n\nFRIDAY 12th AUGUST ’22 \n\n\n\n20:00 – 04:00 \n\n\n\nAfter our last event in Space 289 – Colonies have now become CONFLUENCE. A coming and flowing of togetherness\, where all the ravers of East London will congregate and blow the roof off the 300-capacity Basing House. \n\n\n\nUK artist\, Saytek (aka Joseph Keevill) has gathered some serious momentum over the last few years\, becoming one of the electronic music scene’s most in-demand live acts. With House and techno pioneers such as Carl Cox\, Kevin Saunderson\, Darren Emerson\, Steve Lawler\, Danny Rampling\, Dr Motte\, and MR.C not only singing his praises but also hitting him up for tracks & albums to release and booking him to perform live at their events. Saytek has garnered acclaim the world over with his improvised live shows that see him using a myriad of kits\, including analogue synths\, sequencers and drum machines\, alongside cutting-edge digital technology to perform a unique blend of deep & hypnotic techno\, acid and house that is forward-thinking yet not forgetting influences from Detroit or the UK’s and Europe’s fiercely inventive 90’s electronic movement. \n\n\n\nWith the brand new open-top terrace\, we have even more DJs and four to-the-floor bangers for the evening. Curated by special guests Nico & Dean. You don’t want to miss out on this exclusive night in such an intimate space in the heart of East London. \n\n\n\nBOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW.
