DESCRIPTION:To celebrate International Women’s Day\, soprano Nardus Williams\, lutenist Elizabeth Kenny and classicist and historian Mary Beard present a programme exploring the theme of ‘Women and Power’. This relationship is addressed through an interweaving of music for voice and lute\, with discussion on topics ranging from Sappho to women’s solidarity. \nThe programme includes music by Barbara Strozzi\, Francesca Caccini and Claudia Sessa\, with poetry from Nossis to Carol Ann Duffy\, and features a new setting of the Eurydice myth as a rebuttal or ‘anti-lament’\, by Master of the King’s Music Errollyn Wallen. \n£5 tickets for Under 35s available.

Come to the stunning venue of Grand Junction this January for a jolly knees-up as we celebrate Scotland’s favourite son\, Robert Burns. Don the tartan and tam o’shanters\, and let’s get that floor shaking! \nOur very own house band\, the Ceilidh Liberation Front\, will provide the soundtrack to the afternoon. \nWith the Ceilidh Liberation Front\, you can expect London’s most radical & colourful live band\, subverting the lore of Ceilidh with their energetic folk dance regime. They breathe vigour and vitality into the traditional ceilidh whilst honouring its roots and traditions. \n  \nDress code: Grand Junction has a strict no-heels policy for this event. Other than that there is no dress code\, kilted and un-kilted are all welcome. Come as splendid as you like!
