SUMMARY:Laugh to Keep the Lights on!
DESCRIPTION:Ever since Sunday Assembly was founded – by two comedians – our three tenets have included Live Better and Wonder More. (We’ll get to the other tenet later.) Comedy nights are great for both: the uplift of shared laughter and the marvel of well-crafted comedy. \nOur host is James Ross\, whose Quantum Leopard comedy nights have won awards for showcasing stand-up that doesn’t punch down. He’s put together a fabulous line-up for us: \n\nMark Thomas: Mark’s been performing comedy on stage and screen for over 35 years. He mixes theatre\, journalism and the odd bout of performance art\nBen Pope: From Cambridge Footlights to Edinburgh Fringe to London clubs\, Ben’s been called ‘one of the best storytellers in comedy’\nJamie Mykaela: A comedy-cabaret artist who’s been described as ‘bawdy\, brassy\, vulnerable and intense’\, with performances fuelled by 12 years of opera training\nAlex Franklin: Acclaimed in 2024 for being ‘winningly weird’\, Alex’s performances have blended musical comedy\, science and the joy of being trans\n\nHow much will it cost you to take in all that incredible talent? Just £15\, or £10 if you’re on a low income or precariously employed. We must be having a laugh. (Did we already say that?) \nHere are the details for this non-Sunday spectacular: \nEvery penny will go to Sunday Assembly London\, at a time when we really need it to ensure we have a future. So while you’re laughing to keep our lights on\, you’ll be upholding our other tenet: Help Often. And we’ll be so grateful to you. \nAll line ups subject to change.\nTickets are non refundable.

SUMMARY:Marcus Brigstocke - Vitruvian Mango
DESCRIPTION:What are men for? Most heavy things can be lifted by machines and most problems can be solved by computers and most puddles can be crossed without us gallantly draping our capes over them – so are we fellas of any use at all? \nAward winning MAN Marcus Brigstocke thinks we might still serve some useful function. SUMMARY:"Adam"\, Resolution Festival 2025
DESCRIPTION:Adam is a self-choreographed solo by Harry Theadora Foster\, being performed as part of a triple bill at Resolution Festival.  \nA body learns he’s alive. A child learns his favourite dance. An adult learns who he might have been.  \nA story of discovery culminates in a conversation between these beings across one body.   \nWhat would they tell each other if given the chance? \nIn a spellbinding journey of memory\, trickery and identity\, Harry Theadora Foster connects characters to their own past\, present and future selves. Adam is a testament to the fact that the act of ‘remembering’ is itself an act of imagination- and a tool to help us reimagine who we are now.  \nHarry Theadora Foster (he/him) is a dance artist based in London. Drawing from autobiographical experiences and his practice as a poet\, storytelling is central to his work\, focused on capturing and exploring human experiences.  \nHe has been a dancer with Akram Khan Company since 2022. A graduate of Rambert School\, he has also worked with companies such as Casson and Friends\, Richard Chappell Dance\, James Cousins Company\, and Richard Alston. His work has been staged in the UK at Lilian Bayliss Theatre Sadlers Wells\, Linbury Theatre Royal Opera House\, Anya Linden Studio Theatre\, The Playground Theatre\, and The Point\, Eastleigh.

SUMMARY:MASO SCHISM
DESCRIPTION:When does catharsis become self-harm? Where do we draw the line? \nBest friends Katie and Anastasia have shared everything since childhood — from scraping their knees as children to getting their first tattoos as teenagers. Now\, as adults\, each woman has a relationship with pain the other doesn’t understand. \nSet in a neon-lit world of firing synapses and stinging flesh\, MASO SCHISM grapples with the complexity of female masochism by inviting the audience into a playground of pain. This surrealist piece of physical theatre incorporates elements of performance art to experiment with real pain and explore the limits of bodily autonomy.

SUMMARY:384 Days
DESCRIPTION:384 Days is a one-woman\, tragic comedy. Set in a mental health unit\, it follows Molly O’Riordan\, an aspiring magician\, over the course of a 24-hour psychological evaluation. \nDuring these 24 hours\, Molly works on a trick that will change the face of magic forever\, whilst trying to persuade her psychiatrists that she’s fit for release. But\, in doing so\, she’s forced to confront a number of bitter truths about herself\, her father\, and the life that’s waiting for her back home – truths she’s tirelessly tried to detach herself from. \n384 Days is a bold and brave account of grief and endurance. It speaks to the absurdity of our coping mechanisms in the face of trauma\, and the relentless perseverance of the human spirit. \nUltimately\, it’s a tale of finding meaning\, connection\, joy\, and hope against all the odds.
