DESCRIPTION:Join us for a playwriting course for writers and theatre-makers ready to start on a brand-new play or to develop a current piece. Learn to understand your characters and develop your world. You’ll come away with practical next steps for your latest theatre idea. \nThis is a full week of intensive training – work with industry professionals from SCRUM Theatre – award-winning director and writer Tristan-Flynn Aiduenu alongside winner of the Tony Craze Award\, Somebody Jones. This five-day playwriting intensive will help you kick-start and develop your next piece of theatre. The course is an opportunity to develop a play in the world of sci-fi\, horror\, fantasy or magical realism. We can’t wait to welcome you aboard. \nThis intensive is for: \n\nWriters and theatre-makers ready to start work on a brand-new play.\nWriters and theatre-makers who want to bring an existing piece/ideas into the room to work on and develop further.\nWriters and theatre-makers who are interested in exploring fantasy\, horror\, sci-fi and magical realism.\nActors\, devisers and companies are also very welcome.\n\nWhat to expect across the week: \n\nDay 1: Understanding the world\nDay 2: Understanding the characters\nDay 3: Understanding the story arcs\nDay 4: Dramaturgy work on your scene\nDay 5: An afternoon reading of scenes within the group\, with questions and feedback from Tristan and Somebody\n\nWhat you’ll come away with: \n\nA world bible to keep building your play – and to be able to write your story across other mediums (screen\, radio and beyond).\nA host of reading material to further expand your delve into Speculative Fiction.\nA brand-new scene from your play.\nThe experience of hearing your words read aloud by fellow creatives.\nPractical next steps to keep developing your work after the week ends.\n\nLed by award-winning director and writer Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu (Deep Azure\, For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy\, Pig Heart Boy) and award-winning playwright and dramaturg Somebody Jones (winner of the Tony Craze Award\, finalist for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting)\, this five-day playwriting intensive will help you kick-start and develop your next piece of theatre.
