SUMMARY:Gathering Wands: Walk and Carving Workshop with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Centred on Harri Harrison’s sculptural Wands series in the group exhibition The House at IMT Gallery\, this workshop invites a shared evening of wandering\, foraging and making. \nThe workshop begins with a twilight walk through Victoria Park\, led by multimedia artist Harri Harrison. Moving along desire paths\, the group will allow themselves to wander off the obvious routes\, gathering found natural materials along the way. These paths offer a subtle\, gentle form of resistance\, a space for slower attention and observation. \nReturning to IMT Gallery\, we will gather our foraged materials and create our own wands using a combination of carving and binding techniques. The session concludes with a guided meditation and meditative drawing exercise. Together we will explore what it means to hold found natural materials\, noticing how our focus shifts between objects\, ourselves\, and the connections they hold.  \nNo previous experience needed\, and natural materials and tools will be provided. Feel free to bring your preferred drawing materials and any found items you would like to work with\, such as stones\, sticks\, shells\, dried flowers\, wood\, or string for binding. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking\, as paths may be slightly muddy. If you have any questions or specific access needs\, please feel free to get in touch. \nAbout Harri Harrison: \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities.  \nHarri has over 13 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nGathering Wands is open to all — wanderers\, makers\, quiet explorers\, and anyone curious to slow down\, attend to the everyday\, hold attention\, and reflect through making.  \nSpaces are limited. Reserve your place for an evening of quiet attention.

SUMMARY:Singing With Nightingales: Family
DESCRIPTION:Bring your kids to the woods of Sussex for a beautiful afternoon of nature connection. \n\n\n\nThis May\, join the Nest Collective team for games\, music and folklore by the fireside and a trek into the nightingales’ habitat to hear their incredible song. \n\n\n\nSpend the afternoon ambling through the bluebells of stunning ancient woodland as your host beguiles you with folklore and bird knowledge. Enjoy an afternoon of exploration and playfulness in nature with your whole family. \n\n\n\nWe will gather by the fireside for drinks and snacks before venturing into the woods once more to discover the rare nightingales’ habitat. Once there\, we’ll gather gently close by and listen to their unmistakable courtship song. \n\n\n\nJoin us this May for a rare and thrilling journey in the springtime woodlands of Sussex. \n\n\n\nPlease see the ticketing for price options. Under 2s get free entry. \n\n\n\nPlease note that this event is for parents or guardians and their children. \n\n\n\nThe Nightingale \n\n\n\nIn this modern age\, with biodiversity in decline and habitats being eroded\, the Nightingale has become representative of all that we have to lose. \n\n\n\nThe Nightingale is a small\, brown\, unremarkable-looking bird\, but it possesses one of nature’s finest singing voices. The bird winters in Africa but spends April to July mating and nesting in Europe and the Middle East. Worldwide\, the population is healthy\, but the numbers visiting England have declined so sharply that it is now on the UK’s Red List of species of the greatest conservation concern.

SUMMARY:Right Of Way @ VAULT Festival
DESCRIPTION:‘I don’t remember where I am when I decide to walk. Maybe the idea creeps up on me over time – born somewhere within me the first time I saw the sea. \n\n\n\nLike osmosis\, the thought it soaks into my skin and lies in wait until I cry it out as a single teardrop. Glistening\, shimmering\, and whole – it falls out of my subconscious and into my knowledge. \n\n\n\nThe know\, the knowing\, that I need to walk.’ \n\n\n\nRIGHT OF WAY is a response to writer Beth Bowden’s experience of becoming a Young Carer. It follows a young woman walking the South West Coast path\, documenting her journey of 100+ miles in the face of grief & exhaustion. It is a reflection on bodies\, chronic illness\, loss and joy. Using innovative multimedia projection and exploring natural materials and movement\, this new play aims to kickstart conversations about disability and chronic illness. \n\n\n\nDATES \n\n\n\n21st – 24th February\, 20:00 \n\n\n\n25th – 26th February\, 19:30 \n\n\n\n26th February\, 16:40 \n\n\n\nLOCATION \n\n\n\nThe Cage\, The Vaults\, Leake Street\, London SE1 7NN \n\n\n\nTICKETS \n\n\n\nTickets available from £13.50 via https://vaultfestival.com/performances/right-of-way/
