SUMMARY:Acid's Reign
DESCRIPTION:Starring Ru Paul’s Drag Race star Scarlett Harlett\, Acid’s Reign (Pleasance Theatre\, 5 Feb–1 March) interrogates the climate crisis through a queer lens in a drag cabaret musical. The Climate Queens are ready to fight for their future with the help of a little drag magic\, but the hot-headed\, cold-hearted Alex Acid has other ideas. Fuelled by desperation\, greed and a good dollop of corporate interest\, when Acid feels their voice is drowned out\, is it easier to just light a fuse and watch the world burn? Acid’s Reign is a new musical queering and querying the climate discourse\, exploring the stories we tell about the climate crisis and the compromises we make to tell them. Further casting includes Gigi Zahir (Crayola) who recently opened for Chappell Roan at O2 Academy Brixton\, Joshua Oakes-Rogers returning to the London stage after touring as Melman in the UK stage production Madagascar\, drag king Jamie Fuxx\, and Musical Comedy Awards finalist Ash Weir.

SUMMARY:Wall To Wall Prince
DESCRIPTION:A unique celebration of the music of Prince. Drawing on his incredible catalogue of songs this show pays homage to perhaps the most influential artist of his generation. \nFeaturing David McAlmont and Imaani \nWith Musical Direction from Artist in Residence\, Janette Mason\, whose unique interpretations of Prince\, Bowie and many more have been receiving rave reviews. For example… \n“The flame-haired Janette Mason\, musical director\, took ownership of the set. In addition to being a rousing keyboardist\, Mason boasts formidable skill as a composer\, producer\, and arranger– toying with the arrangements and sometimes entirely reinventing them. She has the uncanny knack of undoing a song by its seams and reconceptualising it with brazen originality. \nIndeed\, Mason was not afraid to take fan-favourites and render them almost unrecognisable. The song I was least looking forward to\, the karaoke staple ‘Kiss’\, was a standout performance thanks to Mason’s slowed-down jazz arrangement\, transporting the audience to the 1950s. Moreover\, ‘Little Red Corvette’ became a country mid-tempo and ‘Raspberry Beret’ a celebratory reggae joint – renamed ‘Guyana Beret’. ‘When Doves Cry’ was also given the bassline unusually absent from the original recording. As singer David McAlmont described\, Mason doesn’t arrange songs\, she ‘de-ranges’ them.” \n \nDavid McAlmont \nDavid  is possibly one of the greatest singers this country has produced. He has collaborated with everyone from Bond composer David Arnold to Michael Nyman\, Paul Weller and most famously with Bernard Butler\, producing the hit single \nImaani \nGracing stages across the world Imaani’s live career is impressive. She has performed on television\, in the studio\, and live with artists including Nile Rodgers\, Chaka Khan\, Maceo Parker\, Philip Bailey\, Jimmy Cliff\, UB40\, Gloria Gaynor\, Incognito\, Betty Wright\, Omar\, Mica Paris\, Stephen Marley\, Julian Marley\, Leon Ware and Aswad. \n“One of the most wonderful and memorable voices…” Bluey \n  \nBand Line-Up: \nBass – Simon Little \nDrums Nico Py \nSax – Andy Ross \nGuitar – Dave Ital

SUMMARY:Tamar Broadbent: Plus One
DESCRIPTION:A brand-new cabaret from Stiles & Drewe award-winning singer-songwriter Tamar Broadbent (BBC Radio4\, Boom Chicago) about fertility\, fainting and the unforgiving feat of having to give up wine for nine months. \nWith songs like Judgy Baby\, Don’t Get All My Bad Stuff and The Man with the Motile Sperm… Plus One is set to be a show filled with what Tamar’s audiences have grown to love: honest stories\, lyrical laughs and a suitable dose of outrageousness. Join Tamar on the piano for an evening of melodic musings about the very normal and very insane experience of having a baby. As she contemplates her greatest fear (childbirth… followed closely by flesh-eating bacteria) and tries to prepare in ways other than just Googling tiny wellies\, Tamar wonders how on earth you go about making a human when you’re not a totally qualified one yourself. \nPhoto credit: Steve Ullathorne \n★★★★ ‘Boasting an original comic voice\, assured musicianship\, and a beguiling onstage presence\, she’s a genuine triple threat.’– Fest. \n★★★★ ‘The next big thing’-One4Review.\n\n★★★★ ‘Brings the house down’-Skinny. \n\n★★★★ ‘A fantastic\, hilarious gem’-Musical Theatre Review

We believe that music can build bridges and start conversations. \nFor our workshops we invite participants from partner charities to develop their skills as storytellers led by an experienced facilitator and in collaboration with our musicians. Work created here can be presented in the concerts. \n“By the end of each performance an intimate energy lingers in the air. There is a sense that the boundary between performer and audience has been dissolved… everyone in the room has been witness to something unique and transformative.” – Peter\, audience member \nPromoted by NW Live Arts. \nSupported by Arts Council England. Also supported by Cockayne Grants for the Arts\, a donor advised fund held at The London Community Foundation.
