Trained under the guidance of Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE\, Jasdeep has mastered the gayaki ang technique\, a lyrical style that imitates the human voice\, giving his playing a unique expressive depth. \nIn recognition of his outstanding contributions\, Degun was awarded the Songlines Best Newcomer Award\, an Asian Achievers Award\, and made history as the first sitar player and British-Asian musician to win the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist award. \nSigned to Real World Records\, Jasdeep’s latest album Jogkauns was his first purely Indian classical album. Recorded with tabla player Harkiret Bahra\, Jogkauns offers a deeply immersive listening experience\, rooted in the Imdad-Khani gharana — the North Indian classical tradition in which Degun has trained. \nThe album is structured as a traditional Indian classical concert\, presenting the entirety of the music within a single raag — Raag Jogkauns\, a relatively modern evening raag that combines the moods of Raag Jog and Raag Malkauns. DESCRIPTION:Having grown up in the small Latvian town of Dobele\, Kristine and Margarita Balanas moved to the UK in their teens. Since studying together at the Royal Academy of Music in London\, they have performed together at New York’s Carnegie Hall\, the Sydney Opera House\, Berlin Philharmonie\, and London’s Royal Albert Hall\, Barbican\, and Royal Festival Hall. \nThis performance\, their first since signing a record deal with Decca Classics\, is an intimate exploration of duet repertoire for violin and cello. Taking place in Newington Green’s iconic working people’s club The Mildmay Club\, the programme centres around compositions by Maurice Ravel and fellow Latvian Peteris Vasks\, complimented by new arrangements of George Frideric Handel and Antonio Vivaldi made specially for The Balanas Sisters. \nRavel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello features at the heart of the evening. Written in memoriam of Claude Debussy\, it finds common aesthetic ground with Vasks’ Castillo Interior\, a meditative and spiritual piece inspired by the writings of St Teresa of Ávila. It’s a journey of discovery that mirrors the sisters’ own path in music\, a theme of personal reflection which links together all the music in the programme at this one-off London show.

Haraya means “imagination” or “vision” in Tagalog. Haraya won Grand Prize at the Manchester Amateur Choir Competition in 2020\,  1st prizes at the North Wales Choir Festival (Pop and Mixed Choir categories) in 2022\, and the Peter Carpenter Cup in Bournemouth in May 2025.  Having different professions and backgrounds with singers mostly nurses and staff from the NHS/healthcare sector (BARTS Health\, UCLH\, Chelsea and Westminster\, Kings College Hospital\, Luton and Dunstable\, and Cromwell Hospital) and other members from social care\, hospitality and finance sectors\, the members are unified through their shared passion for singing and musical excellence.

Attar’s work tells the story of the world’s birds who gather in search of their sovereign\, the Simorgh. Their journey unfolds as a metaphor for the human soul’s quest for knowledge\, unity\, and ultimately annihilation in the divine. \nUsing a harmonious presentation of music\, verse\, and celestial motions of Sama’\, MTO Zendeh Delan invites participants to witness this allegory in living form. This will be presented in a new manner that has never been exhibited by the ensemble previously. \n\n\n\n\nAudiences will be immersed in: \n\nMusic: A rich tapestry of Persian compositions woven with Western classical and modern rhythms.\nPoetry: Eloquent recitations of Attar’s timeless allegory\, exploring themes of bewilderment\, truth\, and unity.\nSama’: A deeply moving presentation of the sacred practice\, symbolising spiritual ascent and the soul’s union with the divine.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCultural Resonance and Universal Appeal \nAs with all MTO Zendeh Delan presentations\, this concert transcends language and culture. The ensemble’s artistry connects directly with the heart\, evoking a sense of spiritual connection and leaving a lasting impression on the audience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Ensemble \nMTO Zendeh Delan\, meaning “awakened hearts\,” is the music and Sama’ ensemble of the students of MTO Shahmaghsoudi\, School of Islamic Sufism®. Since their debut at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2014\, the ensemble has presented internationally in prestigious venues across Europe\, North America\, and Asia seamlessly blending Sufi traditions with contemporary artistic expression. The group also participates in artistic\, cultural\, and interfaith events. MTO Zendeh Delas also shares their creativity at charity events in order to give back to the community. Each presentation reflects the essence of Sufism: the remembrance of the divine through love\, poetry\, and music.

SUMMARY:CHRISTMAS CLASSICS at Covent Garden
DESCRIPTION:Join HARAYA CHOIR as we warm up the atmosphere and bring yuletide cheer this holiday season. Haraya Choir presents: Christmas Classics – A Festive Concert Tour. With 4 shows coming up on the 6th\, 12th\, 14th and the 20th of December in various churches / venues across London\, we aim to celebrate a “Holly Jolly” Christmas celebration through music and community building. Three of these shows are organised for the benefit of The Sacred Heart Church (Kilburn)\, St. Pius X Church (Ladbroke Grove) and St. Dominic’s Priory (Southampton Road) to aid in their repairs and upkeep. \nHaraya Choir is a British – Filipino Chorale based in London and was officially formed in 2017 in a sold out debut concert at St. Peter’s Church in Notting Hill. Haraya means “imagination” or “vision” in Tagalog. Haraya won Grand Prize at the Manchester Amateur Choir Competition in 2020\,  1st prizes at the North Wales Choir Festival (Pop and Mixed Choir categories) in 2022\, and the Peter Carpenter Cup in Bournemouth in May 2025.  Having different professions and backgrounds with singers mostly nurses and staff from the NHS/healthcare sector (BARTS Health\, UCLH\, Chelsea and Westminster\, Kings College Hospital\, Luton and Dunstable\, and Cromwell Hospital) and other members from social care\, hospitality and finance sectors\, the members are unified through their shared passion for singing and musical excellence.

SUMMARY:Quartet for the End of Time
DESCRIPTION:Olivier Messian’s visceral Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time) was written in a German prisoner-of-war camp in 1941. The first performance was given on found\, borrowed and broken instruments for an audience of prisoners\, but the piece has since become one of the most celebrated works of the 20th century. \nPerformed by Ensemble Mi (Anthony Friend\, clarinet; Agata Daraškaitė\, violin; Peteris Sokolovskis\, cello; James Cheung\, piano)\, Quatuor pour la fin du temps will be followed by an improvised reflection by Jon Hopkins\, Leo Abrahams\, and Maddie Ashman.
