SUMMARY:Boston Kickout 30th Anniversary 4K restoration screening and Q&A
DESCRIPTION:The new 4K restoration of ‘90s Brit classic Boston Kickout is set for a special 30th Anniversary Screening at Picturehouse Central on 20 October followed by a Q&A with the director and cast. \nIt’s time to kick out the jams as seminal ‘90s British classic Boston Kickout is back in a brand-new\, stunning 4K edition\, painstakingly restored under the supervision of the director himself\, Paul Hills. To celebrate its 30th Anniversary\, the film will receive a special one-night-only screening and a fantastic home release. \nBoston Kickout – the award-winning autobiographical feature from renowned director Paul Hills – features a young cast of great British talent including John Simm\, Marc Warren\, Andrew Lincoln and Emer McCourt\, who have all gone on to stellar careers as internationally acclaimed stars\, and if that’s not enough to pique your interest\, there’s an awe-inspiring ‘90s soundtrack featuring some of the biggest and best bands around: The Stones Roses\, Primal Scream and Oasis. \nMaking its World Premiere in October 1995\, the film went on to receive worldwide acclaim on its general release across the globe\, garnering awards galore and now\, 30 years on\, the film will receive a special one-night-only screening and Q&A at London’s Picturehouse Central on 20 October 2025. \nThis will be followed by a barnstorming new Limited Edition 4K/Blu-ray Box Set on 3 November 2025\, courtesy of Bluebell Films. The set comes complete with a slew of special features\, including new director’s commentary\, a never-before-seen short film by Paul Hills\, a film poster\, postcards and more. Please see the full list below. The film will also be available on digital from 27 October and standard DVD and Blu-ray on 17 November. \nIn the ‘80s\, Phil’s father upped and moved the family from an inner-city slum to Stevenage\, in the hope of a brighter future. Now it’s the early ‘90s and that dream has crumbled. Phil (Simm) and his friends have left school and find themselves falling into a bewildering world of unemployment\, violence and drug abuse. \nThen\, Ted (Andrew Lincoln) disappears\, Steve (Richard Hanson) is trying to live up to his parents’ expectations with a proper job and loved-up Matt (Nathan Valente) gets engaged\, leaving Phil out on a limb. \nAlienated from his friends and unhappy with his life\, Phil gets involved with Steve’s wrongun’ brother Robert (Marc Warren)\, a dangerously incompetent villain who is forever planning his one ‘big job’ that’ll change his fortunes. \nNow he’s trapped between two worlds – the criminal and the banal. When his cousin Shona (Emer McCourt) turns up\, it gives Phil the kick up the butt he needs. It’s time to make big changes\, but on the horizon\, there are momentous decisions to make… \nIt’s Boston Kickout or bust in this bangin’ British thriller that takes you back to the ‘90s for a rite of passage thrill ride.

SUMMARY:Threads That Tie Us: An Oshwal Odyssey
DESCRIPTION:Threads That Tie Us: An Oshwal Odyssey is a documentary that traces the 2\,500 year long journey of the Halari Oshwals\, a small community from India who have since dispersed around the world. In this film\, driven by a deep connection to her roots\, Bindu Shah navigates the scattered diaspora throughout Canada\, India\, Kenya\, and the United Kingdom. Each emigrant of the community becomes a storyteller\, creating microcosms of Halari Oshwal life. Ideas of faith\, spirituality\, and business-centric lifestyles intersect in this global story. Yet\, against the backdrop of globalization\, the film delicately raises questions that resonate with universal themes of dying languages and cultural heritage. This documentary asks whether this community can persevere amid geographical distances and age-old rules. As an exploration of identity\, communal history\, and sacred pacts\, this documentary seeks to find out at what lengths this community can go to sustain their unity.

DESCRIPTION:Threads That Tie Us: An Oshwal Odyssey is a documentary that traces the 2\,500-year-long journey of the Halari Oshwals\, a small community from India who have since dispersed around the world. In this film\, driven by a deep connection to her roots\, Bindu Shah navigates the scattered diaspora throughout Canada\, India\, Kenya\, and the United Kingdom. Each emigrant of the community becomes a storyteller\, creating microcosms of Halari Oshwal’s life. This global story intersects ideas of faith\, spirituality\, and business-centric lifestyles. Yet\, against the backdrop of globalization\, the film delicately raises questions that resonate with universal themes of dying languages and cultural heritage. This documentary asks whether this community can persevere amid geographical distances and age-old rules. As an exploration of identity\, communal history\, and sacred pacts\, this documentary seeks to determine what lengths this community can go to sustain their unity.

SUMMARY:The Last Race
DESCRIPTION:A gripping drama telling the true story of Czech skiing pioneers Hanc and Vrbata\, German athlete Emmerich Rath and one fateful race that took place in the Krkonose mountains in 1913. Although Hanc promised his pregnant wife never to race again\, he can’t resist the opportunity to beat the Germans in the first-ever Czech-German cross-country race and joins the competition. When the sun is replaced by a blizzard\, the race turns into a battle for survival\, and true friendship is tested. Using historical records to reconstruct the race\, the film sets straight events that have been reinterpreted by the political ideologies of the past\, creating a captivating thriller set against a backdrop of beautiful mountain panoramas where national rivalries are set aside in a race to save a fellow human life. \nFollowed by Q&A with director TOMÁŠ HODAN \nThe movie is part of the 26th Made in Prague Festival organised by Czech Centre London. The popular multi-genre festival is back again for its 26th edition. Representing one of the oldest national celebrations of European culture in the UK\, the festival presents an exciting programme covering film\, music\, science\, visual art and literature in various venues across London and beyond. Take your pick and immerse yourself in Czech culture this fall.
